Dru really loves baking; he can make everything from cookies to red velvet cake. He's good at it and enjoys doing it.
Gru told him he should do it professionally, but he refuses to give up on his attempts to be a villain (because that would be admitting his father was right when he constantly told him he was never good for anything).
His father never hit him, but he was emotionally and psychologically abusive to him at least once a week throughout his life. This caused him severe insecurity, depression and social anxiety; that's why he started acting cheerful and happy all the time to prevent people from knowing his true personality.
His father kissed him on the mouth and caressed him under his clothes until one day he sexually abused him. It only happened once, but he remembers it every day, and sometimes he feels every kiss and every caress again like red ants under his skin.
He never mentioned this to anyone, not even his butler (his only friend), although he never knew if the man was aware of it.
The reason he wears so many clothes even in summer is because he can't stand being touched: the mere touch of a hand feels like acid.
Dru told Gru that his elderly father died after a long illness, but actually he killed him by suffocating him with a pillow while crying and screaming 'rapist!!' over and over again.
One night, his father took him on a major heist so he could learn through real-world experience, but Scarlett Overkill and him have the same idea at the same time, and a very violent fight broke out; Scarlett was practically wiping the floor with him, and he asked Dru to take the laser gun and shoot her, but the boy could never pull the trigger. Scarlet won the fight and kept the loot.
*The next day, his father started the pig farm as a front for his real villainous business. He took Dru by the hand, led him to the slaughterhouse and forced him to kill a pig and made him eat its meat. After that day Dru became addicted to sweets and completely obsessed with the Balthazar Bratt Show.

* Dru realmente ama la pastelería, el puede hacer de todo, desde galletas hasta un red velvet, es muy bueno y disfruta haciéndolo.
*Gru le dijo que deberia dedicarse a eso profesionalmente, pero él se niega a desistir en sus intentos de ser un villano (porque eso sería admitir que su padre tenía razón cuando le decía constantemente que nunca sirvió para nada)
* su padre jamás lo golpeó, pero era emocional y psicológicamente violento con él al menos una vez a la semana durante toda su vida. Eso le provocó una severa inseguridad , depresion y ansiedad social que no le permite ser él mismo con nadie excepto su mayordomo.
* Su padre lo besaba en la boca y lo acariciaba debajo de la ropa hasta que un día abusó sexualmente de él. Solo sucedió una vez, pero él lo recuerda cada dia, y a veces puede volver a sentir cada beso y cada caricia en su piel como si fuera ácido.
* Nunca comentó esto con nadie, ni siquiera con su mayordomo (su único amigo) , aunque nunca supo si el hombre sabía que esto sucedió.
* La razón por la que usa tanta ropa, aun en verano, es porque no soporta que lo toquen: el simple roce de una mano se siente como hormigas rojas debajo de su piel.
* Dru le dijo a Gru que su anciano padre murió luego de una larga enfermedad, pero en realidad él lo mató asfixiandolo con la almohada mientras lloraba y gritaba 'violador!!' una y otra vez.
* Una noche su padre lo llevó a un importante atraco para que aprendiera de la experiencia real, pero el destino quiso que él y Scarlett Overkill tuvieran la misma idea al mismo tiempo y se desarrolló una pelea muy violenta; ella prácticamente estaba barriendo el piso con él, y él le pidió a Dru que tome el arma laser y le dispare pero el niño no pudo apretar el gatillo. Scarlett ganó la pelea y se quedó con el botín.
* Al dia siguiente su padre inició la granja porcina como tapadera para su verdadero negocio malvado. Tomó a Dru de la mano, lo llevó al matadero y lo obligó a matar un cerdo y a comerse su carne. Al día siguiente Dru se volvió adicto a los dulces y se obsesionó totalmente con el programa de Balthazar Bratt.
