Me when I see that Hussie's lil discord art post for new class symbols described the Witch/Sylph and Maid/Heir pairing as being between a "More Active" and "Less Active" of a pair As well as even Though all the Black Class Symbols denoted Active Classes, and the White Symbols denoted Passive Classes, there is a New Active/Passive related indicator for the classes that denotes a sort of secondary active/passive concept in the wheels of the symbols having either Outward Facing or Inward Facing spokes Most Black Symbols are also aligned with having Outward Facing Spokes, except for Sylph's which face inward like a passive class Most White Symbols have Inward Facing spokes, except for Maid's which face outwards instead And these two are the only unique cases like that I'm think that Does sort of start to justify Sylph and Maid occupying these unique positions where they are Directly in the middle of the active passive spectrum, and I think kinda justifies that idea I had where the active passive spectrum technically has an overlap in the very middle Sylph is a class that is Technically on the very very bottom rung of the Passive scale, and is so far removed from the class that Embodies Passivity, that it technically flips over into Active. It's Inward facing, the class verb IS likely still the structure we're used to using for Passive classes, which is Invites X Inside, outward energy going in, but because of it's position on the scale it's technically Active, denoted by the black paint Maid then is the class that is Technically on the very very bottom rung of the Active scale, and is so far removed from the class that Embodies Activity, that it technically flips over into Passive. It's outward facing, energy from inside spread out around, and the class verb is supported by that because it is one of the "Does X" variants. Not Inviting, but Expanding, but because of it's position on the scale, it's technically Passive, denoted by the White paint. I love that the Symbols of the classes are very much a typical weapon or object associated with the pairs as well, feels very RPG This is what Hussie described them as
witch/sylph: witch hat
prince/bard: scepter
thief/rogue: dagger
knight/page: sword
mage/seer: eye staff
maid/heir: abstract wavy shape, denoting malleability (it's basically John's hood)
lord/muse: skull on pike
and tbh, I think what the most fascinating thing about this is, is that pairs of classes have Obviously related symbols a Dagger and a Sword are both Blades A Witch's Hat or a Hood are both Hats A Scepter and a Staff are both well, Staves Witch/Sylph + Maid/Heir Prince/Bard + Mage/Seer Knight/Page + Thief/Rogue What that possibly says about inversion pairs, who knows Yet, but it's definitely interesting to consider
as even though we had the class pairings before, i did conceptualize that the new inversion pairs that Witch/Sylph and Maid/Heir created was Mage invert Sylph and Heir Invert Prince But if you just take the symbols as is, the inversion pairs would be the following: Witch invert Heir Sylph invert Maid Prince invert Seer Bard invert Mage Thief invert Page Knight invert Rogue of all the inversion pairings that i didn't expect to stay so stable across all the new lore drops over time, i didn't think it would have been the Knight/Page/Thief/Rogue square lmao solid as a rock that one
