Q: Will it be a digital-only zine?
A: YES! The Hansry Fluff Zine will be released on https://hansryfluffzine.itch.io/ for free! There will be two files: one for the zine itself and one for digital merch such as profile pictures and emotes. The intended release date will be announced soon!
Q: Is there a certain rating limit for works? Will this be a SFW zine?
A: The Hansry Fluff Zine will allow art rated Mature or lower. We’re using AO3’s definition of Mature: "The content contains adult themes (sex, violence, etc.) that aren't as graphic as explicit-rated content." The definition of Explicit reads, “The content contains explicit adult themes, such as detailed sex scenes, graphic violence, etc.”
Our reasons for not allowing Explicit art are solely for Moderation purposes – we don’t want you to feel like we’re yucking your yum!
Some of the Moderation difficulties with allowing Explicit art that guided this decision include: the consent of everyone in the Discord; determining whether a specific kink/act counts as “fluff”; and avoiding potential discourse about headcanons. This is, under no circumstance, a morally-driven decision; we love all kinds of art! Thank you for your understanding :]
Q: What’s the definition for each of the artist types?
Page Artist: will make an A4 page-sized piece of art!
Spread Artist: will make a piece of art the size of two A4 pages – imagine an open magazine!
Comics Artist: will make several A4 pages of a finished comic, no more than 4 pages!
Spot Artist: The Hansry Fluff Zine will include illustrated fanfiction! These illustrations will be done by “Spot Artists”, a type of Zine Contributor. Writing Contributors will decide with the Writing Moderators what ideas they will be writing about. After fanfiction pieces are set to be written, a Spot Artist will get to choose which fic(s) they would like to illustrate! Spot Art will be expected to either be around half an A4 page in size, interleaved at some point with the fanfiction, AND/OR Spot Art can be several small drawings, sprinkled in with the writing!
All final submissions should be in .PNG format! Zine Artists may use any media they like, so long as the final product is a still image!
Merch Artists have a lot of artistic freedom.
Desktop Wallpapers, Phone Wallpapers, a Calendar (Keep in mind that a calendar is a huge undertaking, and collaborations with other artists within the zine may be necessary), Emotes, Profile Pictures, and Coloring Sheets!
All final submissions should be in .PNG format! Merch Artists may use any media they like, so long as the final product is a still image! All of these should be at least 300DPI!
The vast majority of writing in the Hansry Fluff Zine will be traditional fanfiction. Depending on a few variables, nonfiction and poetry MAY be included. All pieces of writing will be between 1,000 and 9,000 words.
As with all contributions for the Hansry Fluff Zine, pieces must be focused on Hansry and have a general mood of fluff. Fiction pieces should have a sense of narrative satisfaction by the end of the story. WIP pieces will be reviewed regularly at deadlines over the course of the zine's progress, and proofread by the Writing Mods. Don’t worry - constructive criticism is NOT mandatory, though it can be given upon request! Nobody will be forced to write something they don’t want to. <3
Q: Is this just for KCD2, or KCD1 as well?
A: The Hansry Fluff Zine will cover every piece of media to do with Hans Capon and Henry of Skalitz!
Q: For the Contributor Application, is it okay if I have Art/Writing examples that aren't about KCD?
A: Yes! Art/Writing examples in the Contributor Application do not have to be KCD-related.
Q: Can I be more than one type of Contributor?
A: Yes! However, the Moderation team would prefer for all Contributors to complete one project at a time.
Once a Contributor has finished their first addition to the zine, they may show examples of Art/Writing/Merch for their next intended role, and suggest ideas for what they want to create. This is because there may not be room for everybody to contribute more than once, as the zine could get too long to manage otherwise!
