feb 12 — so. tired.

i am so exhausted i can't even make a post, this photo is of me currently studying for my bioethics midterm 😞

also at my school "midterm" literally just means exam so we end up having around 3/4 midterms in every (traditional) class each semester and then a final, and the first round of exams has just begun 😔

feb. 10 — bronchitis (AGAIN)

the most important thing you need to know about college is not school or like how to cook (at all), but HOW TO STAY HEALTHY!!!! the dorms are a germmy cesspool, you breathe in the wrong hallway and boom— pneumonia. i am not very good at it clearly because this is my second run in with bronchitis, the first being a terrible 2-3 month struggle, but taking your vitamins, CLEANING YOUR ROOM, staying fully stocked on emergen C and making sure to go outside/eat healthy are all important factors in upkeeping your general health!

feb. 6 — new apple pencil!

i finally ordered a new apple pencil so i can use my ipad to take notes again! i love using my ipad for textbook notes bc it keeps me more organized and makes studying sooo much easier. i still like to take lecture notes in my notebook though, because i can use it for brainstorming thoughts and kind of just brain dumping.

Blurb Journal Post (Feb. 5, 2020)

Okay so, I declared a biochemistry minor today which is exciting and terrifying at the same time. I am actually interested in chemistry and need things like biochem & ochem (organic chem!) for the MCAT (medical school admittance exam), but it's a LOT of hard math.

I planned out my courses I'll be needing to take and when to take them to help wrap my head around it (i would HIGHLY recommend this for all college students of all majors/minors/certificates it's so helpful and keeps you focused) and it really put things into perspective for me.

One of the requirements for my minor is biochemical physical chemistry, which is just basically physical chemistry for biochemists (aka an easier version of phys chem), and the prereqs for that course are calculus 2 AND physics 2. I wasn't planning on taking anything more than an algebra based physics class and calc 1... but I guess why not challenge myself to see how much I can handle!?

I'm also going to have to go all the way up to OChem 2 w/ lab, when I was originally just going to do 1. And it's not that I'm not excited? about that because I would love to be able to really master the foundations of oganic chemistry and calc and physics, but I also wanted to become fluent in spanish and spend a summer in Spain or Chile and be an executive member in my sorority and go on hiking throughout the rockies. It just feels like there's so many things and so little time!

However, right now my priority is to continue exploring my premed track and just go with the flow. The most important thing I've learned so far in my first year of college is that you can't plan out your whole life-- so many things don't go as planned. This doesn't mean you shouldn't make plans, but more that you can't think of everything as concrete and allow yourself some wiggle room to grow. I guess I'm saying that you have to be welcome to change! It's so easy to stay rigid because you want to feel in control of your life, but you are always in control! It sounds absolutely crazy and maybe a little insensitive to those who are facing hardships, but everything in life can only affect you in the way that you perceive it. Change your perception and try to think positively about everything (even when you find out you have to take physical chemistry, lol).

This blurb journal is a way for me to get my thoughts out because I see this blog as a destresser and an organizational tool for my thoughts, soo take from it what you want (more proof that you're in control of your perception of life ;)). I'd also recommend doing this if you're scatterbrained like I am!! It's super nice and can be pretty useful when you're trying to reflect.

feb. 5 — dance practice & biochemistry minor!?

don't be fooled-- i have the bachelor open in the window behind this spreadsheet 👀

tonight was my very first dance practice for this big greek life dance competition we have in april, and even though i was dancing for 3 hours i had a BLAST!! if you have the opportunity to learn a dance for some reason, do it.

i also declared my biochem minor today! it's a lot to handle, but i'm going to explore it and see if i can really get through physics 2. we will find out in 2022 lol

feb. 3 — first chem exam

i got an 80! not bad, not my best-- but i'm happy with it :) also if you zoom in you can see my bachelor bracket hehe (i started on week 3 that's why it's missing some weeks). it's important to RELAX after working all day, i have some work due tomorrow but some things you just have to save for the morning

feb. 2 — super bowl sunday!!

started the morning out with a hike on a stair master trail... needless to say my legs are sore. also, my fitness tracker spread is off on the days haha, saturday was the 1st. but it's close enough lol.

jan 27 — genetics is harder than you'd think

i'm having a really rough time grasping the basics of genetics currently. i understand everything from the textbook and lecture, but then for some reason on all my quizzes and other assignments i keep getting everything wrong! and it's completely different than what i learn from the book. kinda stressed

on a more positive note however, i got appointed to be the colligate alumnae relations chairwoman in my sorority! i'm super excited about it and i went to my first PR department (section i work under) meeting today and it was wonderful!! i have so many ideas i can't wait

i've finally finished moving in to my new dorm room! like decorating and everything, i even have a fully stocked snack drawer hehe. just applied for a job at target today... hopefully they get back to me soon! unfortunately if i have a job i'd have to miss pilates some weeks :( but money is a little more important haha

also, i have so many pictures i just haven't posted! let me know if y'all would want to see them now or if i should just save them for future journal posts..

i've moved in to a new dorm room! hopefully know i can finally get back in my routine, this past week has been so stressful. i don't have a lot of fun photos since i've just been busy, but here's a photo of my desk i took to send to my mom lol.

jan 20 — it's been a long week

hello! i haven't posted recently because 1. my tumblr wasn't working? but 2. i've been couch surfing for the last week because of some roommate problems i'm havin... but shit happens and we're making it thru! if you want i'll even make a post about what's in my hobo pack hehehe.

also, as far as pilates is concerned, class no. 2 was amazing and even though it's really hard i feel like i already have abs! highly recommend :)
