Happy pride to Teddy “she was my best friend” Altman
Happy pride to the hot Eleanor Roosevelt incident!!
Adventure time taught us to never judge a book by its cover. Unless the funky wizard horse lizard man is really dogging on you for it, then you absolutely judge a book by its cover, because the book is probably a quest trap.
This pride month let’s not forget the queer elders who came before us!
-Janis Joplin (never formally came out but was in serious relationships with both men and women)
-Labi Siffre (I don’t know his exact sexuality but he made music about his queer love and joy that was nuanced and subtle enough that it could be out there freely in his time)
-Marsha P. Johnson (as well as every trans woman who was out there defending our rights. We owe our building blocks -or rather building bricks- of rights to trans women and lesbians and anyone who is transphobic or lesbophobic this month I hope the ghost of Leslie gore mistakes you for that girl Judy she always sang about and gets her revenge)
-Leslie Gore (was never able to come out in her youth though she is/was a lesbian. Her music, while probably not always being solely written for her as is lots of music, has a certain quality to it that feels like a queer woman trying to break free and I love her with my whole soul. I mean ‘it’s my party’ and ‘Judys turn to cry’ both feel like she picked one man she was willing to be with as a closeted lesbian and some girl was trying to take him. And ‘I wish I were a Boy’ is pretty self explanatory if you listen to it.)
-Keith Haring (His art about the AIDS crisis is so culturally important and we need not forget how he kept making art until he couldn’t anymore)
-Harvey Milk (first openly gay man in California to be in office)
-Alan Turing (gay mathematician who was a very big part in the inception of computers. He was as I recall, an atheist which is understandable given his scientific and technological pursuits. I love Alana Turing so much.)
-Rosie O’Donnell (actor. She stood up for our rights and this countries equality and did what she could to be a voice and a decent person. She left the US to live in Ireland I think last year? In light of how bad everything was getting here. She couldn’t stay here especially because if I remember correctly a lot of US people didn’t want her here, which is unfortunate because she’s from what I’ve seen, lovely.)
-Freddie Mercury (Singer, musician. He had his problems as many musicians of his era did. A notable thing about him is that he hid that he had AIDS from everyone including his band mates, until it got too processed and he had to tell them. He lived his final years with his beloved partner until the end.)
-Brandi Carlile (musician, activist. She’s awesome and I don’t have a ton to say I just love her. Such a joy.)
-Jane Addams (she was a woman who played a huge role in providing care, training, education and legal aid to immigrant communities. She received a Nobel peace prize and is noted to have had a relationship with a woman named Mary Rozet Smith, as discovered through a series of love letters)
-Sally Ride (astronaut and one of my inspirations. The first queer woman in space and the first American woman in space. Obama even gave her the Medal of Freedom posthumously for how she inspired young girls to achieve their dreams.)
-Hulleah Tsinhnahjinnie (a two-spirit photographer who depicts native women, families, and I looked it up and her artwork also was centered around responses to colonialist histories.)
Watched S2 of AGGGTM and it only strengthened my Pip is autistic headcanon/coded thing.
Minimal-no spoilers but maybe spoilers I write as I think as I assume we all do mostly.
This season showed (in my opinion) a very very strong example of an autistic person who’s obsessiveness drives them too far to the point of breaking down/spiralling/losing control.
She loses control in probably most if you not all of the different meanings of the phrase. She loses it personally by pushing away people around her out of her hatred for certain characters and their connections to the people her friends have chosen to hang around. She loses control when she can’t stop what happens to certain people at the end because she’s gone too far. She loses control when she makes promises and then cant keep them despite how hard she tried. She loses control when she keeps choosing to ignore everyone and leave places because her brain has decided she needs to despite people telling her she can’t leave (this is severely out of character and stems from her obsession consuming her).
Also, the way she needs to seek justice. This is also related to her obsessions, but what I think is so interesting is the way that she’s so keen on seeking justice that it gets to a point where she’s not even only trying to straighten out the truth, she’s trying to prove innocence and truth where it doesn’t exist. She gets it in her head so strictly that something can’t be true or real or a person can’t be nice, that she refuses to stop until it’s proven.
Everything this season leads to her doing things that aren’t like herself to the utmost extreme. Season one she was just kind of not like herself and doing things she wouldn’t do, but season 2 she just doesn’t care anymore. She almost wants the obsession to consume her so that she doesn’t have to be reeled back to her normal calm life because it’s going to be physically, emotionally, and mentally difficult and draining to go back and handle the fallout.
I also thought it was interesting that she’s depicted as also having clear obvious PTSD now. Like, I expected her to be traumatized but she so evidently has PTSD. More than anything else, the autism coding, anything, this is the most clear cut because it’s deliberately shown and highlighted and the scenes are shot the way people shoot a character having a PTSD moment.
I’m sorry but no one is going to get me to like Hazbin Hotel or helluva boss (queue the “then don’t watch it”)
Aside from the personal ties/people who traumatized me who were obsessed with vivzipop in the very early Hazbin days, that would make me want to scream into a pillow if I ever heard “inside of every demon is a rainbow” again (which I’m trying very hard to keep separate from my main reasons for not watching bc I feel they should be for me personally),
I can’t help but notice that (and I’m not talking about the younger viewers or new fans who simply don’t know the history bc they got into a show and its current fandom and didn’t dig deeper bc they didn’t know they could or should)
There’s some people who will just ignore allegations either because Vivzi said they weren’t true (which, there’s nuance to be had there in the bigger scope of that for people in general, but sometimes people lie to look better or protect themselves, and it would make sense that someone looking to have their shows as a stepping stone into a bigger career, wouldn’t want allegations, true or not. Something to think about I think.) or because when they looked into it what they found pointed to it possibly not being true, and they latched on.
Maybe it’s because it’s easier to just let themselves enjoy things and that’s understandable, but doing it here or there or even once as an exception bc “well I really like this thing!” “But this art style is so good!!” “But these characters!”
It’s really reminiscent (and I’m being very broad with this in the sense of the topic correlations not matching perfectly so stick with me) of how everyone said “Colleen Hoovers books are derived from real people’s personal trauma, including someone her son dated!” And everyone who likes her movies and books, ignored that bc “ultimate love story!! So cute! They’re so perfect!”
And it kind of feels like no one would care even if these allegations/pure facts of Vivzi were more well known based on this- not formula but, experience (??) of people putting trendy, cool, or even what I’m going to call “perceived niche but is really just popular bc of how many people post about, it and how niche it is” things above how people are irl. It’s the same thing with people not letting go of Harry Potter despite JK Rowling being transphobic. If it’s their story and their little world that is beloved to them, they can’t let it go because comfort outweighs morality.
And to be clear I’m speaking about the zoophilia art (which, it doesn’t matter “how bad” it might’ve looked or not looked, it’s zoophilia regardless of that or her age at the time or anything), the transphobia towards mascs and trans men that she basically scooted past without apologizing, there’s allegations of her following an anti-Semitic account on this very website/app, acephobia, poor treatment of people working on these projects who, as part of an animation team spend hours upon hours doing work only to be treated like crap (and given the stated favoritism by others to other in this work environment, is is to hard to believe that some people have statements and others say things were fine?) , and let’s not forget that Vivzi and Vivzi’s fans excuse bad behavior with regards to her age at the time, or her mental state at the time. You would say someone gets absolved of bad things simply because their mental health was bad when they did it? Is that how people heal by getting excused of their actions that they did during a poor mental health time period? That’s on par with “but he’s 15 he can’t be held accountable for assaulting that girl!” And it sickens me. (And yes that example is extreme. That’s the point.)
If you want to k ow what kind of Dip and Pip fan I was in HS, we had meme day at school and so I dressed as early years dan, (Y’know his classic grey cardigan with that Howell shirt) complete with an H&M shirt I think I thrifted, that looked a lot like his Howell shirt stylistically, and I did my hair swoopy to match the emo fringe, and I put cat whiskers on my face, and I posted about it on tik tok and got like 15,000 and 11,000 likes respectively on my two videos, but it’s because everyone was commenting “the grease” and ant emojis (this was when “the ants 🐜” was a meme)
because I have bad eczema and have to put medication on my head and arms so it looked like I had greasy hair, but I didn’t say that so of course in my comments I was fighting for my life telling everyone my hair was wet because I have thick hair and had showered that morning (true but it had definitely dried by then), and a few people did comment defending that point when others were like “ew no it would already be dry”
and I was so embarrassed and I felt so bad that I told everyone who asked at school that my meme was the “oh shit, a rat!” Meme but I was the rat🙃. (My economics teacher asked me and I just refused to answer out of pure embarrassment)
As someone with ADHD who does in fact need something in my hands while I focus on tv, it always irks me when people who choose to be on their phones during a TV show they chose to watch try to put down or idk why I want to say “snuff the flame” but do that with peoples genuine deep analyses and thought and ideas about said show, simply because those ideas don’t fit the trendy opinion, or their idea of who someone has to be because any other way is uncomfortable for them for various reasons, such as it breaks their comfort bubble for how far these characters could go or who they are, or it prevents them from relating to the character for sexuality, gender, or mental illness/neurodivergentness reasons.
And yes this is about Grey’s Anatomy.
Can we talk about how Brad probably only fought Patrick so that he could be close to him again, even if it might be for the last time. Yes he was trying to save face and cover up in front of his buddies and the school, but tackling him and fighting him was the only way for Brad to be close to and have his hands on and his body near Patrick again. So despite how he probably hated it inside, that’s why he enticed him. That’s why he lured him back hoping for a further altercation. Patrick had walked away, but Brad wasn’t done, he wasn’t ready for him to walk away just yet. To let go of him. So he called him that slur and said it even more clearly so that Patrick had to punch him. Brad would take fighting Patrick over not having Patrick at all. And as shitty as that is it cements how deep his love is despite what happened to him and despite how deeply in the closet he has to be. It’s especially clear with how he thanks Charlie for stopping his “friends” when Charlie steps in and has clearly blacked out and punched them all. And this is even more clear in the book beyond the movie, which I was referring to originally, because obviously books have more narrative writing.
Why do I feel like them not being able to get the moment Phil’s mii caught feelings on camera is a metaphor or some sort of symbol for how the fans don’t need to be privy to every private moment and thing.
Like, I’m definitley putting/looking too much into this, but it’s kind of like the universe giving another moment that’s just for them (I mean they did reenact it but Y’know).
If you don’t want spoilers for a tv show that’s been over for years, don’t go online and look under the tags of that show and then subsequently get upset that you were spoiled. (Especially if the post you saw is old too like??)
And I get that sometimes you can look up specific tags for specific seasons, but people who talk generally about certain characters or certain timelines or arcs or plot points, tag multiple seasons because it’s relevant.
I love how Gina spent so much time defending Maddox and then their one heart to heart had nothing to do with that at all.
So for context, I have a lot of Cassette tapes that were passed down to me, and some are ones that were obviously stuff recorded off the radio, and so for years I’ve been trying to listen to them (there’s not a lot of radio recorded ones, I just have a lot of CD’s, Vinyl, and Cassettes along with my iPods and streaming of course so deciding to put in a cassette or sit down with a chosen vinyl or whatever sometimes feels time consuming and not as easy as the same seven songs on my phone playlist)
Anyway so I was just playing one and, this should be easier to find btw, I just found the song that Pit-bull sampled for Hotel Room Service! I don’t know what the name is bc again this cassette recording didn’t record the radio host saying the song name but I’m determined to find it so someone please lmk! (Ignore that I’m using a Jensen I’m working on fixing my old Panasonics and Walkman’s that I have!)
Remember when everyone was prepared for DnP to get married in 2022 because of that fan song?
Jeff what are you doing
I just spoiled myself on the survivor finale.
Take this as advice not to be on your phone while watching tv. (I just wanted to see the survivor IG stories because in my head they were probably posting as the episode is happening. But I forget the opposite coast plays it earlier. in terms of our time it’s the same time for them just not the same moment. That’s how time zones work. Anyway)
