imagine you're a vampire that was alive in ancient rome and you've never made a vampire companion. you were never sure if a mortal would be strong enough for the blood. but then you finally meet one that you desperately want to make immortal and her aunt is like no. your name is mael btw

"You are back." he said timidly, not at all sure how to navigate how he felt about this wisdom. "Is Jesse with you?" the question was perhaps too direct. Too blunt. Too transparent of a confession of thought.

"Yes, I've been away far too long. Will you forgive me?" It was better to address the extended period than to ignore it. Force the focus away from the question she knew would follow. "Is that all you seek?" There was a tease at the bluntness of his question of his demand. "No, Jesse is not with me at the moment. You may remain as long as you desire to await her return."
He let out a low grunt at that first question of forgiveness, not yet capable of deciding on that. It had not even crossed his mind such a thing would even be necessary to consider. What a hassle.
"She will return, then?" he pushed on, neither accepting nor declining the invitation. In truth, he would do better to accept it, the state of his garments obviously in need of replacements and his vagabond spirit in need of that anker she had once been for him. He always functioned better in the world when in worldly company.
"I assure you she will return but I cannot say how long we must both wait. Waiting with company will be better." Removing a blanket that had been dragged over he shoulders she wrapped it around him in a silent plea to remove the garments that were beyond repair. "Mekare is away it is just I for now." A further push for him to remain and anchor himself to someone for a time. Fingers combed through his hair petting him as well ws loosening any knots that formed.
As usual, he did not get the hint and just let her put the blanket on him. He assumed he was to hold it in place, so it would not slip off of his shoulders.
Never having any place to be, he considered the offer seriously. To have her dedicated attention could both be verwhelming or healing, was his experience. He realised it would be best if he had the conversation with her that had been pestering him for the past few decades, but he was not quite ready to open up that swamp. Best to just stay in her company. Then the topic would surely arise on its own or by him not being able to keep his thoughts behind lock and key.
He gave a curt nod, while she pulled a twig from his hair. "I'll stay." he confirmed, looking down at her from his giant height.
Jesse would have found amusement in the way Maharet could not rely on Mael to understand what she was wishing without directly speaking her intentions. "You must be uncomfortable wearing clothing tarnish as it is. Remove it." She wished to be more gentle with her words but there risked the need to repeat her request several times. His mind open and yielding to her but she would not prey until he was ready.
"Would you join me in bathing? You appear to be needing some tending."
He looked at her for the longest time. It had been a while since someone had told him what to do and it took a moment to register what she was saying. Then he looked down at the clothes he had been wearing for at least a couple of months, not having been into contact with any mirrors in that long stretch of time. Perhaps they were ready for replacement.
The invitation for a bath was not uncommon between them either, but many of such things were ritualistic processes to Mael and so the necessary precautions would have to be checked off first. "Do you have herbs? Incense?" he asked seriously, as if bathing could not commense without it, while he started taking his battered cowboy boots off.

"There are few I never met, and if I haven't then there is likely a good reason for it. Perhaps Mael's maker. That elusive creature they call Avicus. I would simply love to see how a fiend such as the druid could have sprung from one who is so renowned for his tranquility."

The rain had not stopped the ancient from leaving his modest, forest dwelling. It was a soft winter and the cold did not affect him in his small, nightly tasks.
When he returned and stepped onto the porch to find the note attached to the door, he almost tore it in half while retrieving it, the rain having soaked it completely. Feeling apprehensive over the idea of someone even being able to find him here, the man looked around, in case he would spot someone, but when he found nothing and no one, he pushed his hood down and moved inside.
He prepared a small fire in the makeshift fire place, hung his cloak to dry and place the wet wad close to the heat for it to dry too. He placed his aquired materials where he needed them and after a few minutes, turned to the fire place and looked at the now dry folded piece of paper. It took him more than a minute to decide he felt he needed to know what was written, if still readable.Â
Mael picked it back up and folded open the now crispy paper, reading the message. Again, he looked outside of his window in case he spotted this person, but again, nothing could be seen. Who was this Gremt and how did he know his name. Surely, if the person wished for conversation, they would be back later. And so Mael went around his business, waiting for this person to return.
spiritusgremt: He was completely expecting to be told to turn around and so when Mael left the door open as an invitation Gremt grinned like a child at christmas; wiping it away quickly before it could be seen. Everything inside of the small shelter was so fascinating to him, he had so many questions but resolved to to take it slow. He didnât want to mess up this opportunity. The bird feeding itâs young at the window was particularly endearing.âAh, it was my guess that you never knew the name. Teskhamen has been a close friend of mine for hundreds of yearsâŚâ He closed the door behind him and stepped closer to the fire, looking at it but watching Mael in a secretive way he was skilled at. â⌠you knew him as the God of the Grove.â
Mael, although having pulled up the chair, remained standing, his big, white hand still resting on the back of it. Hundreds of years⌠so this man, that was definitely not a mortal, was old like Pandora and him.
The rest of what Gremt said, evoked a feeling of scorn in Mael, as any stranger would that talked so brazenly about his past.
âYour friend lies.â he stated instantly and resolutely. âThe god of our grove died by fire. I have seen it with my own two eyes.â It was what had set his own path into motion and for this stranger to spew this nonsense under his roof was outragious.
âWellâŚ. with all due respect, and I assure you there is much respect, you are mistaken. As my companion tells it the druids were too shocked and concerned with chasing Marius that no one noticed him crawl from the fire. He used the earth to stop the burning, his centuries of patience and meditation allowed for him to mentally detach from the pain long enough to get awayâŚâ he paused with a somehow caring wince, âI can show you what he showed me through the mind if youâd allow it,â he suggested gently.
Mael observed the stranger as if he was a mad man and actually looked quite appaled that this Gremt would speak of events so long ago, far beyond his knowledge.
âI do not allow it.â he spoke with words matching his expression. âWhy have you come?â
What would you do if you were mortal again for a day?
âI would spend some time in the sun.â he answered simply.

MOONLIGHT. Â what is your museâs ideal date? where / who with / etc? Â //It really differs with whom and in what kind of fase he is. When he is socialising, like his years with Maharet and her guests, he would go with the modern ideas and would not mind going to see a film or something like that. But in his more secluded periods, the only thing he really wants, is to be in nature. So a long walk would be perfectly fine.

//Mael shows affection by being nice to you. Take it or leave it. HAHA! No, but seriously, he is not a very sensual or sexual being. He needs to trust someone 200%.The rare occasions in which he was truly intimate with someone in his immortal life (aka Avicus. The list is that short.), itâs very ritualistic. It will be slow and weâre talking about hours here, before even some garments would come off. No talking. No haste or heated passion. The other needs to be on the same wavelength as he is, where every touch and/or move is completely, spiritually guided.
