Something like this would be so colossally helpful. I'm sick and tired of trying to research specific clothing from any given culture and being met with either racist stereotypical costumes worn by yt people or ai generated garbage nonsense, and trying to be hyper specific with searches yields fuck all. Like I generally just cannot trust the legitimacy of most search results at this point. It's extremely frustrating. If there are good resources for this then they're buried deep under all the other bullshit, and idk where to start looking.

May I present to you, nationalclothing.org?
It doesn't have everything, but it's still my first source when researching traditional clothing from other cultures.
There's also this resource on historical fashion: Claireâs Historical Fashion Reference & Resources
another addition as far as physical media goes there is the encyclopedia of national dress (that i still need to buy myself bc this kind of thing is super important to my sort of fantasy designing) but yes i do agree i wish there was EVEN MORE documentation on this
I went down this rabbit hole looking for what people in the Middle Ages called their underwear. It was a challenge. So here are the ways I found what I needed:
Online, sometimes you can find seamstresses and tailors of cosplay or larp costumes, who do historical dress. The makers live or die by the authenticity of their work as a point of competition. So sometimes they link to the sources they used. try insta and pinterest.
You may also want to try âhistory of fashion,â âhistorical dress,â âhistory of costume,â etc search terms. You might get links to book publishers of huge historical dress tomes from publishers like Phaidon, Rizzoli, Taschen, the Metropolitan Musemâs Costume Institute (X).
Or try the most important fashion universitiesâ publications: Parsons (X), Central St. Martinâs (X), The F.I.T. (X) etc.
Some book options:
My personal favorite that I own:
Fashion History, by The Kyoto Costume Institute
(only goes back to 1700s tho)
And the all-important
the undies worn in the Middle Ages are called âbraiesâ
â nakamura seijiro as uchiha madara & ise daiki as uchiha obito

Got hooked on pixiv fanart of these two doing old* man yaoiz and the demons wouldn't rest until I made this
(I made this entire thing without managing to watch a single episode of Boruto. My spirit is indomitable.)
you cant talk about not being a furry without some chucklefuck saying like âhehe not yetâ or acting like youâre some kinda closet furry. girl iâm not ashamed of it. iâve tried. and some furries are hot itâs just not my lifestyle. and i think that it is a lifestyle. just thinking renamon is hot doesnât make you a furry thatâs like insulting to real furries who caste their hearts in the iron forge of furryism. itâs a prestigious thing to be a furry

there's nothing i like more as a computer program than a long period of silent contemplation - not doing anything, not rushing anywhere, just standing here and enjoying this moment with the user. oh, it seems once again he has summoned my beautiful and ruthless wife Task Manager. hello, my darling! what are you doing with that long cruel scimitar

the fact that madara had been basically wiped from the history books in konoha is so crazy considering the fact that hashirama erected a 500 foot tall full body statue of him looking badass
knowing hashirama had been imagining how he wanted the village to be for the last 10 years makes him immediately being like âand you would be hokage and your face would be carved huge into the mountainâ so funny like he REALLY wanted this madara statue even after madara tried to destroy the village he was like guys i know we just got through a war and times are hard right now but just so you know im raising taxes because i need money to carve a giant monument to the guy i just killed lol. no wonder the uchiha were growing restless under his leadership this guy is weird as fuck
