Happy birthday to our Alnwick Hero, OLIVER and Sheffield Villain, CLAIRE! We wish you the best on your special day!
Love, Your friends at Crystathereum!
The air had stopped flowing for a moment, the stagnant smell almost fading.   Something was coming, he could feel it. The ground beneath his feet had began to rumble. A tighter grip was forced on his sword, waiting to be used against the vile creature holding the Quartier. What would be of her once rescued? The nameless soldier remembered the Qater Quartierâs orders, and her gift of health âa potion to be given to her friend to speed her recovery should the gods be kind and protected her for whatever she was forced to. Hope had forced the lady of Myrefall to ask for the help of a stranger and trust him with this difficult task, and the Warrior of Light was not to fail.
              Not again.
The grotto had turned to be a formidable fortress to hide more than just a kidnapped Quartier, Light had to admit the smart tactic behind this terrible event. Should the person holding Joyce against her will dominated the earth other than the wind, this could turn into an easy grave for anyone, yet not for the Warrior of Light. No, he couldnât let Joyce down again. A burning sensation he had never before fueled his steps, making his hands ache to end this and return normality to Sheffield. Oh, he had heard what has happened in Sheffield while he searched for Joyce. And that usurper that now sat on the Quartierâs throne will meet his blade, and his blood will clean the dirt he had thrown onto Sheffield, he wiâ
All in a sudden, the wind had taken speed, had taken shape, yellow gushes of the element threatening to cut all that opposed him. The warrior came to a fast stop and raised his shield even higher, defending the lady behind him by pushing her exactly behind him. Never had he faced the element as during that moment, forcing the warrior to bend knees with all the strength in his body to remain standing. Regardless of his form, the knight had to step back, all while keeping his shield high and his sword arm battling yellow daggers that threatened to slice them open with quick and short sweeps.   Only then, he saw her. The so-called empress of wind: raging blonde locks of hair spread free for the wind to manipulate like blades ready to kill, eyes as sharp as any dagger he had ever wielded. The Warrior of Light regained his footing, focus now driven towards his enemy.
All sounds had faded. All scents had vanished. No thirst, no heat, nothing.        He had now to get his companion closer to the Quartier, deliver the healing potion, while he dealt with this fiend.            He had to kill the empress of wind.
A low rumble pulled the archerâs attention away from the caverns, a continuous thundering that soon began to shake the earth beneath her feet. The whistling wind grew quiet, the rattling of rock and earth becoming louder and louder around them. She took a single step back, only for the earth at their feet to explode with a resounding boom. The winds enveloped the duo into a sudden yet powerful storm, gusts whipping dust and rock and slicing grass and nearby flora as the air surrounding them took a tangible shape. Long flowing tendrils of gold formed within the growing maelstrom, miles and miles of it swirling around a coalescing frame and sharpening under the gusts. Another rumble, and the golden tendrils lashed outward, striking anything and everything within reach.
As the tendrils struck, the archer was pushed back, metal ringing in her ears. She glanced up to see the warrior standing in front of her, shield held high as the tendrils slammed onto the surface. The force of the strikes, as well as gusts of the surging winds was enough to push the two back, feet sliding across dirt and patches of grass in earthen cracks. The archer braced herself behind the warrior, knees bent and feet planting into the earth to keep her steady. The assault of the tendrils continued, with some of them snaking past the protective shield to attack the duo head on. While the warrior knocked them back with his sword, Maria pulled her arrow away from the string to knock the tendrils back with the handle of her bow. Another gust of wind blew, sharper this time, forcing her to look up to see the eye of the veritable storm raging within the caverns.Â
Hovering above them was the Empress of Wind; the fiend who kept the citizens of Alnwick in perpetual fear and held the Earth Quartier in her deadly clutches. Eyes that were initially wide in astonishment from the sudden assault soon narrowed with distrust upon regarding the fiend. She appeared much more monstrous as compared to their first meeting in the townâs square, but the murderous intent radiating off her remained just as tangible as it was all those months ago. The winds whipped under the fiendâs touch, golden tresses flaring out like mythical snakes eager to strike again, eyes sharp and gleaming with mounting adrenaline and pure abhorrence for the ones who dared to enter her domain. Yet the archer refused to relent under her might, not with another innocent life still hanging in the balance. The Quartierâs presence remained in the back of her thoughts,  yet it weakened with every passing moment they stood with the fiend. If they did not hurry and reach herâŚ
She shook her head at the thought, steeling herself for the upcoming battle. Maria had yet to forgive the fiend of the strain placed on the heroes back home thanks to her decree, and with this recent attack on the Earth Quartierâs life, she could not allow the fiend to continue the havoc wrought. The archer drew her bow once more upon following the warriorâs footsteps, arrow nocked and aimed at the self-proclaimed Empress. Whatever the fiend had in store next, they would be ready for it.
   â 風ăćăă â
Their reactions were immediate, just as her initial strike was; whips of golden tresses slashing at their arms and throats and cheeks, any exposed skin they could reach to coax the blood out of the bodies of her enemies -- the sight of even a wayward droplet of scarlet on shining armor had her amber hues fixated, ruby lips pulling into a tight smile upon otherwise angelic features.
There was always something to be said about the initial tease, whether it was in battle or the bedroom.
Upon the sight of locks of mauve, however, that darted about in her maelstrom, the aforementioned narrowed harshly, lamia slits spitting daggers. Of course -- of course that little cockroach would scuttle her way into her affairs once again.
Pulling her hair back with a sharp whip of her neck, the Empress appeared to push off the air at her feet in a jump, landing effortlessly upon the top of the mouth of the cavern, glaring down at her adversaries.
âItâs about time, wouldnât you say? And here I was thinking Iâd have to babysit the little corpse forever.â A slim brow arched, crimson tiers spreading into porcelain grin, as slender arms crossed about each other before her waist. âAbandoning your towns on the day of their destruction -- how heroic of you.â
Yet as she spoke, alterations to her plan shot arrows through her mind. She couldnât very well let the Quartier die, lest she become another Goddess -- and she would certainly earn Romulusâ ire for a mistake of that magnitude. Unless, of course, he had a counter to such a predicament -- but she couldnât assume that... Ah, she had been sequestered for so long that her ability to make sound judgment was unclear...
Falling back into a sneer, she directed her sights to the arrow pointed at her. The woman would be easy to dispose of, yet far more agile than the man -- likely, the man would attempt battle while the woman attempted rescue; to do otherwise would be foolish.
What other option was there but to exterminate the purple pest?
How To Care For - Barbariccia's Wonderful Hair. Gaining the favour of a powerful Archfiend is a difficult and dangerous endeavour, but one of the easiest and most straightforwards method in doing so with this wind goddess is in treating her and her hair like one. Purchase the finest hairbrush possible; Eblanese if possible, not one of those cheap Troian knockoffs and approach cautiously. If Barbariccia agrees, brush. Carefully. And don't pull, ever.

**Pulling of the hair may or may not result in any of the following:
Missing limbs
Removed limbs (not the same as missing as you can see she is dangling them in front of you -- you know exactly where they are)
A vacation in the dungeon
Hanging by toes off the side of the Tower of Zot
If you experience any of these symptoms, donât bothering talking to your doctor, because youâre probably already dead and thereâs nothing he can do for you anyway.

Understand that she is a beautiful flower full of poison and if you touch it or smell it or breathe on it, she will eat you limb for limb and never even tell you how tasty you are.
Treat her like a beautiful flower, but also donât. Find a happy medium between pure adoration & reverence, and absolute fear for you life.
Brush her hair often. If youâre not doing anything -- wrong. Youâre brushing her hair.
Groom yourself everywhere. Your body doesnât belong to you -- it belongs to her, and she wants it the way she likes it.

Urgency was the regent on each of his steps.
After his companion started rushing towards an unknown path, the Warrior followed. Swift long steps of metal echoed through the forest, yet he did not cared about being silent. If what his companion said was true, the empress would be hidden in a place where no sound would be heard regardless of its origins. The only thing to worry would be hidden creatures waiting for an ambush.
Yet no evil creature with ill intentions would be  problem for the man clad in armor. His mind was focused in one thing only, and his sword would swipe away any obstacle with ease, his shield would bash anything on his way with the crushing force of earth itself. Time was of essence. The Warrior of Light kept pushing forward, wondering how this woman had received such visions from the quartier herself. Was she from Sheffield, too? Light could not recall seeing her before, yet something about her assured him she could be trusted. After all, nobody else knew where to find Joyce. Were this to be a trapâŚ
No time to think of such developments. The woman had no proper armor to protect herself, and bow and arrow could be easily defended against with his shield. The nameless soldier now wondered if such companion would add more weight to the fight, and prayed to the crystals and the light that touched all thatâs good that she knew more ways to defend herself. Joyceâs life depended on it.
Forest slowly began to dissipate, and what once was green turned gray, the roads now covered in rocks of various shapes and sizes. The nameless soldier immediately made sense of his surroundings, growing aware of the resources around them should they be needed once Joyce was rescued. This grottoâs location was well hidden, and he could only scoff to himself as to how genius such location was for the purpose it was currently being used. This Empress of Wind wasnât stupid. Which made her a formidable foe already. He hoped the empress wouldnât disappoint when the time to fight arrived.
A shake of hands summoned sword and shield to the warriorâs hands, now stepping in front of the woman as they made their way inside the grotto.Â
âStay behind my shield, my ladyâ, the only words he would share until they found the quartier.
The sudden appearance of the warriorâs weapons brought a short flash of astonishment upon her countenance, never seeing such a skill before. She had wondered exactly where he kept his weapons, especially after taking notice of the armor he wore. It was a handy talent, she admitted to herself. He must have wanted to wait for the right moment to summon It was here Maria realized how much more prepared for battle than she actually was. While he carried a formidable sword and shield with him, as well as wore armor to protect himself, all she had was her bow, her quiver, and the clothes she hastily threw on before sprinting out of Alnwick on the urgency of her latest vision. She would be fine, she quickly assured herself upon watching the grottoâs entrance. She was a chosen hero for her city. She still had her impeccable skills in archery, and she was fairly quick on her feet. If the worst-case scenario came, she had a fire spell and a cure spell at her disposal. The only thing she prayed for was that with their combined set of skills, the two could defeat the wind empress and rescue the Earth Quartier.
Assuming that they would not draw the powerful ire of the wind fiend in the midst of battle.Â
The response from the warrior brought her out of her thoughts, which helped steel her resolve once again. Now was not the time to cast doubt or allow anxiety to have the upper hand. They now had a mission to complete, and it could not be done with disquiet fogging oneâs judgment and focus. Plus she did not want to give the self-proclaimed empress the satisfaction of faltering before her again. At his advice, she nodded in assent and stood close to the warrior, her bow drawn and readied as the two entered the grotto. The still silence of the outdoors followed them into the cavernous space; the only sounds that echoed within was the sound of their footsteps against the damp ground. Her gaze remained vigilant as they moved ahead, not only in keeping an eye out for the wind empress, but also on her visions as they unfolded in the back of her mind. The fear the missing Quartier exuded from her thoughts became much more tangible, sheer anxiety squeezing the archerâs heart upon seeing exactly where the young woman was being step. They were almost thereâŚ
The temperature dropped around them as the path winded deeper into the grotto. The path dropped off into an open area, where a few smaller tunnels branched off. Sunlight filtered from small holes peeking from the ceiling above, and instead of the distant dripping of water reverberating through the surrounding area, the whistling of wind echoed around them in a steady, yet foreboding note.Â
âSheâs close by,â the archer spoke up, her voice quiet as she stepped forward and gestured to the paths. âI can sense her fearâŚsheâs being hid in one of those tunnels.â
   â 風ăćăă â
âYouâre about to be rescued, dearest.â
A sharp exhale from the woman was all she received in response, perhaps the slightest twitch at her available eye, the corner of her gaping mouth. She hadnât breathed through her nose in days, always slackjaw like a caveman -- look at what the Quartier was reduced to: a sickening, bruised fruit, caked with dried blood and various fluid, ropes tied around her wrist and not even attached to anything -- what energy did she have to move anyway? She remembered the day she had done so, kneeling beside the girl, snipping every strand of rope until she was free, unbound save for her sheer exhaustion.
She was the only thing keeping her within the grottoâs walls, in the Empressâ grip. And the Empress was the only one keeping her alive.
âLet them come.â Standing straight, she turned at the waist to view the opening of the cavern, that splintered light that filtered through as if seeking the captured youth. She had known nothing but darkness for weeks upon weeks -- should she be saved, should the Goddess be beaten, there was no way she could return to her duties.
Barbariccia had made certain to break her beyond repair.
âI will give them a proper welcome.â
Striding forward, she made her way closer and closer to the entrance, knowing those heroes would be on the other side. Who exactly they were made no difference, nor how well prepared they thought they were for the imminent encounter -- she would bury them on her doorstep, make a picket fence from their bleached bones. Let their flesh be her doormat, their blood water her garden, their heads decorate the top of lamp posts.
She would have a veritable scenic, murderous paradise of an abode.
One hundred feet, and she narrowed her eyes, darting forward, gaining momentum; miles of golden hair whipped behind her, curling about her form until it encased her in a tornado just as she burst forth from the grotto, into view of her adversaries. The resounding BOOM shook the path under their feet, the wind cutting at the ground and grass around them -- and she wasted none of her precious time. The heroes would likely attack the moment they saw her, so she would have to strike before either of them even made eye contact.
Her hair uncoiled in a cutting blade, slicing at the ground and anyone near her; once free, one arm swept from one side of her form to the other, sending a billowing wave of wind at her opponents. Only after the blow had been thrown did she see the forms of her enemies: an armored man and a woman wearing little more than leather clothes -- well, she knew who would be the first to fall.
thunderfooted:
   â 風ăćăă â
âReaffirm my presence? As if those simple heaps of manure and engine oil have gotten anywhere close to forgetting me.â The voice of the Empress was smooth, satin on skin, cold to the touch and luxuriously sweeping. A sheer fabric was draped about her shoulders, fluttering against her ankles as she steps, one foot crossing before the other until, finally, she settled her weight on one side, slipping a hand to her hip.
A small sigh escaped her lips, and she dipped low, knees bending until one arm lay across her lower thighs, the opposite elbow crooked to allow her hand to cup her cheek, fingers lazily stroking the perfect, even skin.
âWhat do you think, Joyce, darling? Think they miss me?â
The Quartierâs face was unrecognizable, her former power seen only in the glimmer of her eye. Her eyepatch had been torn off by the Empress nearly upon arrival -- strip her of whatever pride and protection she has and sheâll break far more easily. Now, that useless eye was swollen and purple -- a far better look if she said so herself.
Yet no answer was given; just a lift of her eyes to meet the goddessâ, a glimmer of life kept alive by the Crystal Shard tied above her, just out of reach.
Amber hues narrowed, ruby lips falling into a sneer. âWell. Weâll see soon, wonât we?â
Her free hand fell to the ground, palm pressing hard into the rock, fingers splayed wide and evenly. With a tremor, the earth cracked beneath her touch, the scar spreading as if in search of something, making its way to the cavern entrance and beyond, all the way through the fields and forests to the town square of Alnwick.
Only then did the planet shake once more, far more violently. Townspeople stopped where they stood, holding their arms out to either side to steady themselves, glancing at one another in concern; precious little peons, unaware of their impending doom.
Oh, they would know. They would know when the fountains and statues and pots in the center of town cracked and split apart on the ground, when the earth caved into itself and left a gaping hole for hellspawn to rise -- a towering creature of fire and fury, lionâs face and dragonâs legs and demonâs wings and snakeâs tail. Let it burn whatever it touched and rain brimstone down on the mortals that didnât respect her.
   She would never be forgotten.
Let Romulus be pleased with her continued servitude.
â Hey, you, come âere! I got something to show you! Itâs to die for!â
   â 風ăćăă â
âIs that so? I must say I am quite fond of fatal surprises.â
âUhm excuse me, could you tell me where the nearest PokĂŠcenter is?â
   â 風ăćăă â
    âPokĂŠcenter? I donât follow.â

Barbariccia heard about the heat wave, too.

She held the first shift, and how fitting was it that she would ring in the event with a volcanic heat. A masseuse -- what a sweet little title, feigning innocence for something far more lewd; silken hands on skin sprinkled with sweat and oil, involuntary moans released as muscles were forcibly and expertly relaxed; and in such a town where clothing was not high on the list of priorities...
Oh, it was just splendid -- and perfect for what she had in mind.
There was enough room for all sorts of mischief in this week-long getaway, and she wouldnât waste a moment.
Fingernails gleamed with fleckled ruby, gripping the curtain that separated the room from the hallway and pulling it sharply to one side, exposing herself for her customerâs viewing pleasure: her lithe, Goddessâ figure, svelte and smooth -- never was there a lack of allure in the sway of her hips, the gleam of her sunset skin; she was all curves, an undulating snake in both body and golden tresses coiling and twiling behind her with the slightest edge to their movements ( do they have a mind of their own? oh, and what shall they do to you while her hands are otherwise occupied? )
    âGood afternoon, stranger.â
Her voice was caramelized sugar, succulent honey dripping from lips of sanguine carmine ( her tone was the melody, her tongue the deft and practiced instrument ).
Legs, slender and stretching for miles, bending at the knee, crossing ankles in a demure show, stepped forward into the room, stopping just at the side of the subjectâs table, nude save for a white towel draped over their hips. Toying with peripherals, she appeared to stay just out of their fullest vision, only a hint of her ethereal presence -- could it be called a tease?
    âNow...â
Palms of even skin smoothed up the slope of her customerâs back, reaching toward their shoulders, bending her own body at the waist until her sparingly-covered breasts grazed the flesh.
    â...What can I do for you today?â
Breezy;Â Hey hey villains! If anybody is looking to get some Crystal Shards, Barbie is down to help! She's already got one and is currently using it for something other than training, but she's available for double teaming some poor rebel! If you'd like to steal shit or get your shit stolen, let me know~!
