So this all started with a request for non-angst Cophine from someone I followed. So I flew in a drabble while anon. People seemed to like it. So I shed my student-card and put on a pair of fairy wings. I am now the Magical Anon Fairy.
When the Carmilla cast is going to be at TIFF doing a live reading and a Q&A, THE ONE DAY that you aren't in Toronto because you're too busy out of town celebrating your stupid sister's birthday.
Just kidding sis, I love you.
Not really tho, because Kaitlyn Alexander and Natasha Negovanlis...
And Sharon Belle.
And Elise Bauman.
And who can forget the amazing Annie Briggs?
I fucking hate you sister.
(Why do you need birthdays anyways?)
The room felt empty, it had felt empty ever since the fight but now? Now it felt truly and completely empty. There was no feel of LaFontaine anywhere, hell after Perry's cleaning spree, there wasn't even the smell of LaFontaine on Perry's pillows... The moment that Perry had realized she had cleaned the one thing that might never smell like LaFontaine again (she didn't know how this whole disappearance thing was going to work out) she had had a screaming/crying fit that didn't go away until Carmilla broke into LaFontaine's dorm room to steal their pillow just so Perry would shut up. Perry had stopped screaming, but the crying didn't subside until exhaustion took the curly redhead.
Back to Me.
There was a skipped heartbeat, just one, before Perry was throwing herself at LaFontaine, who held her like they didn't know what to make of the situation. The girl just held tighter to her LaFontaine, and had to remind herself several times that others were in the room, to keep from dropping thankful kisses all over the cropped redhead's face. It wasn't until LaFontaine had not remembered going anywhere that Perry took a step back, fear crossing her features.
Susan part I.
She found LaFontaine in a compromising position with one of the experimental freshmen when she came back to the room after checking on the pasta she was making (Fettucine Alfredo, LaFontaine's absolute favourite.) Perry had known that LaFontaine was changing, little by little, and while it had terrified her... It was still her LaFontaine and she would never again let LaFontaine's behaviour change her feelings for the redhead. It was only when she found LaFontaine practically shoving their tongue down the freshman's throat, that Perry snapped and everything fell apart.
Susan part II.
"LaFontaine!" Perry had screamed, glaring daggers at the freshman until the young girl had gotten the picture loud and clear to leave. She had considered skewering the poor girl on her way out, but instead turned to face her bestfriend, hurt displayed prominently on her pale features. "How could you?" She asked, even though deep down she knew she didn't have the right... She didn't own LaFontaine. There was something in LaFontaine's eyes though as they explained "It was fun?" That made Perry see red. "Now, look, LaFontaine if you-" "Susan." Perry froze and felt her heart grow icy cold in her chest. "What did you say?" "My names Susan, Lola, stop calling me by my last name... it sounds weird." There was a strangled sound from the curly redhead as her entire world crashed down around her.
Fierce Determination.
"You!" Perry screamed as she faced Will in the final battle. There were vampires and students alike, all locked in battle and in any other circumstance, Perry would've ran and hid. But this was not any other circumstance. She had a score to settle, and scared or not, she needed to settle it. "You're the one who took my LaFontaine! You took them away from me, changed them! What gives you the right to take a piece of my heart, huh? You stupid gross vampire?!" Perry had screeched as she flew into a rage at the boy vampire she hadn't liked from the start, and almost at once, both sides of the battle stopped to watch the fiesty, if slightly crazy, redhead beat the centuries old lad with an old broom handle.
Back to Me, Redux.
"Perry?" There was a soft voice calling out that brought Perry back to the land of the living, just in time to complain about how hard she had hit her head when she fell. The redhead could feel a few drops of blood on the back of her skull, damn vampires threw hard, but her focus was jarred by the voice calling her name. Blinking her eyes open, she was met with a pair of terrified and concerned, very familiar ones looking back at her. "Su-susan?" Perry choked out, before the automatic response. "LaFontaine!" And Perry let out a happy scream as she flung herself off of the ground (albeit that move hurt a lot) at LaFontaine, throwing her arms around them and sobbing into their neck. "You're back! You're back! Oh god, I missed you!" Perry whimpered as LaFontaine instantly started trying to reassure her, and Perry knew that the piece of her heart that was missing, was back safe and sound.
The moment where Kaitlyn Alexander writes you back.
I think I just died, and woke up my entire household with the amazed shouts I wrote as I stared at the fact that she messaged me back about the drabble I sent her. Is this real life? Am I dreaming? Am I dead right now?
You wake up in the morning very cold and slightly grumpy, for a few moments the world is extremely foggy and you have no idea where you are. As you peer over the edge of the bed and find a very large pile of empty wrappers, accompanied by a long pale hand dangled over the top of your face, it hits you.
"Carmilla..." You groan a little, grabbing the hand and pulling at it, the lump it's attached to hisses at you and whimpers as you try waking it up. "Carm... We did it again!" You complain with another groan as the pounding in your head gets louder, the memory of just how much candy you had lingers in your head and you grumble a little.
The brunette vampire still doesn't move, you know this from experience, that's why you stick her in the top bunk, because she doesn't move around in her sleep. She doesn't move an inch until waking up, and that's when she flails, grumbles and falls out of bed, and that's why you put her up there. Because it's absolutely hilarious watching that happen, and also it wakes her up perfectly.
Almost like clockwork, she shoots straight out of bed when the words finally register in her head, and she flips straight out of your eldest son's bed and crashes onto the floor. "Agh!" She cries out, and you laugh as you help her, up, your feet landing in some gooey chocolate left sitting on the wrapper. There's a moment of squick as you grumble and complain, not wanting to be too loud incase the kids are still asleep.
You honestly have no idea what time it is. Neither does Carmilla.
"How, LaF? How do we do this every damn Halloween!" She says as she steps over the piles to you, and you guys survey the damage, this year you think you might have eaten almost all the kids candy. Oh joy! You'll have to go out and get them more candy today, that'll be fun with the sugar hangover you're sporting right now.
You just shrug and pick a wrapper off of Carmilla's shoulder, it's time to face the music. The two of you take eachother's arm and pull yourselves out of the boy's room, noting a lack of breakfast-y smells. It's either extremely early or extremely late, and you don't know which is worse.
Carmilla takes the lead down the stairs and as she reaches the bottom, you trailing behind, you hear her murmur. "Oh, morning, sweetheart!" You can hear the words "Oh Shit" that are unsaid, and you freeze because if Laura's downstairs waiting for Carm, you can be sure Perry is waiting for you. You brush past the vampire and wait for the inevitable as you descend the stairs.
And you're right,
Perry is waiting and she is CLEARLY not happy. You take in a deep gulp of air and you can already feel the disappointment in her eyes, you are in some serious trouble. "LaFontaine, baby... That was the children's candy." You just nod your head and groan, the stomache ache is killing you, and the guilt is just driving the dagger in further.
You can tell Carmilla is feeling the same way too from the way she can barely meet Laura's gaze. Both wive's are angry beyond hell, but not entirely, because they're used to the atrocity that is you and Carmilla on Halloween Candy. In fact they are so used to it, that's why they pile all four kids into you and Perry's king-sized bed with them and just let you and her go nuts in the boys room.
Just, they're not too happy with the fact that you didn't leave any for the children. And that's why you feel so darn guilty about it.
"I'll buy them some more when me and Carmilla go out and get the both of you flowers for putting up with us..." Carmilla's eyes go wide and she snaps her head to look at you, realizing how brilliant your plan is and she nods furiously, unable to meet Laura's eye again.
Perry and Laura just share a smirk as the both of them lean in and kiss you and Carmilla lightly on the lips, a sure sign that you're forgiven. Carmilla lingers a moment to kiss Laura fully, holding her tightly to her, just needing to know she's been forgiven, even though she already knows she is. They've been through too much for Laura to leave.
While Carmilla gets all the comfort she needs from her beloved, you're bending down and taking Perry's large stomache in your hands, kissing it gently, right above the belly button, whispering your apologies to the baby inside. Perry just smiles that smile of hers and you light up a little.
As the two of you leave, all four kids swarm you with hugs and requests, them piling into their other parents like they haven't seen you in forever (to be fair, it HAS been a few hours that you were in the sugar coma) and you catch some of the conversation thrown at you.
"Mama, I want a new pair of vampire teeth just like yours!" (That's Anastasia, the sweet six year old absolutely obsessed with her Mama and the fact that even as Mommy gets older, Mama still looks the same.)
"Auntie Carmilla, can we get red koolaid so we can look like vampires, too? I want some vampire fangs too! Oh, and a cloak! It's on sale because it's after Halloween." (Your seven year old is such a talker, but he too has inherited your love of the weird, and his cousin's love of her Mama."
"LaFontaineee... Can I has a Kittycat?" (Emmy means KitKat, but the look on Carmilla's face as you enthusiasticly tell her she can have Snowball is worth making the mix up.)
"My Fonny, you wonts really give her my Snowsnow, would you?" (Your own J.P.'s heartbreak makes it a little less worth the mix up, and you have to comfort him that you aren't giving away his cat.)
Yeah... All in all, costumes and candy-eating aside, having the kids all together made one heck of a Halloween.
It's been close to two years since you were able to take your kids out trick-or-treating and dammit to hell, you are more than excited. You are so excited that you plan a full themed costume and map out exactly where you're going and how long it'll take. You've got Lola's mom handing out candy at the house, and for the first time in a while, Perry's actually coming with the three of you. You had insisted, with her swollen stomache, she looks perfect to be Mario. A costume that had gotten plenty of grumbling before she finally agreed on it, on the promise that she get to "ride Yoshi" later.
You're dressed as Yoshi of course. And you had agreed to that promise eagerly.
The kids are dressed up as Princess Peach (your oldest son loves her the most) and Toad for the little boy. Perry had fussed a little bit, she's still getting used to the idea of letting Thomas be whoever he wants to be, but after last year's Halloween had consisted of him in the hospital with a lung infection and his younger brother being pawned off on the "Aunts" while you drove back and forth for over a week, checking on the little guy, and making sure that she took care of herself at the big guy's bedside, both you and her just want a Halloween that they'll both enjoy. So Princess Peach was fine with her in the end.
Getting ready is more than a little hectic, what with Perry grumbling over the mustache and you reminding her that just because she's pregnant doesn't mean she can get away with costume bending... Which ends up a failed reminder as you veto the mustache when she flashes you a pout that you're sure if your soon-to-be daughter inherits, you're doomed. The boys are a little easier to get ready though, Thomas practically jumps into his costume the moment he's finished eating and instead paces beside you as you try to fit his four year old brother into Toad.
The process takes nearly an hour as the Kindergartner goes from having to pee, to not being warm enough, to being to warm, to having to pee again and finally deciding that he wanted to change his shirt even though nobody will end up seeing it. By the time, you've gotten his costume zipped up, there's a knock on the door and your two bestfriend's are here.
Perry answers the door and your heart sinks a little as Daisy and just plain old Carmilla enter the room. "Where's your costume?!" You ask in a huff, having spent hours trying to convince the brunette that matching costumes were the way to go. The kids run in as well and your heart sinks even further. They aren't dressed as Toadette and Boo.
"I tried, Laf, I did!" Laura promises, nudging Carmilla with her elbow and the brunette looks guilty for almost a second before looking over at you and shrugging her shoulders.
She just smirks a little before gesturing down at herself. "I decided to go as a vampire?" You groan, Perry groans, Laura just facepalms and all four kids burst out into hysterical laughter.
It takes almost another hour to sort out the costumes, and at first you're a little disappointed because you worked so hard on this Mario theme that not going like it just makes you a little sad inside. Instead of your amazing Mario theme, you wind up with Supergirl and Wonderwoman (Thomas opting to change from Princess Peach into the Amazonian Superhero, in order to match his precious Anastasia), a tiny zombie version of Emmeline which kind of cheers you up a little, your tiny one James Patrick digs up his Ninja Turtle costume from last year, Carmilla doesn't change into anything more than a vampire, and Laura's opted into being "vampire bait" which really just consisted of her changing back into her normal clothes and you drawing two little red marks on her neck and writing Vampire Bait on her shirt.
You don't change out of Yoshi, having put too much time into the costume, and as your leaving, a very pregnant Mario catches your eye and smiles at you before mouthing something about keeping your promise, a sight that both makes you blush bright red and swells your heart even more because she hated the Mario costume but knew how much you loved it.
As the eight of you leave the house, and 'Leonardo' takes your hand with a smile and a loud "Where too first, my Fonny?" as he curls into your side. You decide it's going to be a very good Halloween.
So... on Ressurection. Am I the only one that doesn't ship Maggie and Marty, and instead ships Maggie and Elaine? Like seriously, I go back and rewatch scenes and Maggie's intense worry for her bestfriend makes me feels.
Imagine someone who only has one tally mark, a black tally mark identical to the one their significant other has, only to wake up one morning to find that their black tally mark has scarred overnight and their partner won't answer their calls.
When Claudia told S.J. that this was going to be the best Mother's Day of his life, he hadn't quite believed her. The mother's day before his Mama had died had easily been one of the greatest holidays the young boy had ever experienced, he had been only three and a half and it had been the first holiday that his Mom, Dad and him had ever spent together.
It wasn't that his Mom and Dad didn't get along, which they did, his Dad loved him and his mother... just he was always so busy, that he didn't really get a chance to spend time with them. Plus, he wasn't even supposed to be an involved Dad, S.J. was literally created because his Mom had wanted a child and thought her brother's gay bestfriend would be a perfect candidate. So Steve was not much more than a sperm donor, at least, not until his Momma had gotten sick, then he had gotten involved quickly.
The day had been a mix of sad and happy, S.J. cuddled in between his Mommy's frail but warm body and his Father's big tough chest as they watched home videos of S.J. growing up. Things that Steve hadn't experienced first hand, so it was almost kind of magical seeing him smile at all the little similarities between him and his son. The day had ended with some take-out and board games in his Momma's bedroom.
His Mother had died a month and a half later, and every holiday since consisted of him living with his Grandmother (his Dad's mother) up until his Dad had died and he had been sent to live at the Warehouse so he could get to know his Dad better from the people who had been his friends.
No, no holiday he had ever had since then had topped the first one he had gotten to spend with both his Dad and Mom... However, this one was certainly looking up to fulfill that special spot of best holiday ever.
And it was all thanks to Claudia.
They started the day off in the most unorthodox method ever, something that Leena would've killed Claudia for doing if she knew (S.J. promised not to tell, he knew the consequences). They started the day off with icecream for breakfast and Steven James Jinks Jr. had never felt more deliciously naughty for doing so. Claudia was through and through a bad influence though, but a bad influence in the greatest way, so they had both gotten a triple scoop banana split with fudge and caramel sauce shortly before ten am had even hit.
Far from being the first and only patrons in the icecream joint, they were certainly the loudest, as Claudia excitedly mapped out their plans for the day, chocolate sauce drizzled across her face and S.J. staring at her both in amazement and without trying to laugh. They had barely made it halfway through their sundaes before Claudia was talking about pizza for lunch and chili-cheese dogs for dinner.
"Okay!" S.J.'s only available response was before reaching across the table with a napkin and wiping the chocolate sauce off her face, an action that earned him a stare from her then a laugh.
"Aren't I supposed to do that to you?"
He shrugged in response and laughed before they were finishing their icecream and hightailing it out of there, a list of things Claudia wanted them to do, tucked into her pocket as she dragged S.J. down the main street and to their next task. The only look that S.J. had on his face was a huge smile as his hand was tightly held by the redhead as she carted him into the movie theatre.
It wasn't until nearly the end of the day that they ran into someone they knew, one of the ladies from S.J, Abigail and Grace's school, spending time with her own daughter and son. Claudia didn't know the woman too well, Leena was afterall the person who brought all three kids to school on most days while their parents were working hard, she had only really seen her at one of the schools functions (a family day function that she had to take S.J. home from when he was told by some kids that he had no family so he couldn't be there) and didn't particularly like the nasty woman or her snot-nosed children.
"Oh, Steven! I didn't know you'd be here, I thought the festivities today were strictly mother's and their children?" She had said in a loud, happy voice, her surprise trying to be taken as more sweet and inquisitive than the harsh stab to his parentless nature that Claudia heard and S.J. obviously felt as her children sneered at him.
S.J. faltered and hid into Claudia's side for a second, lost at what he should say in response, it was one thing to hear it from her children, but from her... he wasn't allowed to talk back to an adult.
Claudia on the other hand was. "He's here with a Mother, I'm his honorary Mom for the day and he's having just a great time so..." She left her sentence a little open-ended for the woman to get that she needed to scram and go spend time with her own children instead of bugging Claudia's kidlet.
The woman didn't seem to get it, S.J. only retreating further into Claudia's hip as she smiled an overtly fake smile and responded. "Aw so sweet, a little charity work then? You must be from one of the organizations? I'm Clarissa, he goes to school with my children." She held out her hand.
There was a lift of Claudia's eyebrow as she stared at that hand like it had offended her entirely, and she was just opening her mouth to say something when she felt the little hand squeeze her leg and looked down at the boy she was supposed to be focusing on. His eyes wide and scared and sad. So she swallowed her pride, smiled just as fakely, but didn't take the hand. "We best get going..." She retorted, her tone less than friendly before grabbing S.J's hand and taking him out of there. Shaking in anger as she heard the snicker's from the ladies children as they walked away.
"What a bitch..." She finally breathed out.
That earned her a small. "Complete bitch." From the peanut gallery beside her, Claudia letting out a laugh so enthusiastically that she forgot to tell him not to cuss, as her and S.J. ran off to the next carnival ride.
Leena waited up in the kitchen for Claudia, even after all the others had returned home and put their kids to bed. It had been an overall good Mother's day for everyone in the B&B and she was just waiting to see if that happiness had extended to the two most important members of her little family. So when the door had came to a creaking open, Leena jumped to her feet and all but ran to see how the two were.
"Hey! How was i-" She was shushed by a tired but happy looking Claudia, struggling to carry a completely knocked out S.J. who had a peaceful look on his little sleeping face. "Shit... Lemme get the door."
Leena helped Claudia with the heavy seven year old boy all the way to the stairs before deciding they wouldn't be able to get him up them and leaving him on the comfy couch, wrapped in Abigail's favourite blanket and Claudia's sweater, in front of the slowly dying fire. Claudia huffed in exhaustion as Leena lead them to her favourite chair and sunk down into it, pulling her bestfriend in beside her and grabbing a blanket to cover them both in.
"How did it go?" She asked softly, as she and Claudia had moved slowly into a more comfortable position, their bodies entwined with eachother, Claudia's head resting on Leena's shoulder. She could feel Claudia smile before she heard her speak, and that only warmed Leena's heart a little.
Claudia whispered, not wanting to wake S.J. up. "It was fantastic... A few bumps in the road from some snotty woman who pretty much told S.J. he couldn't be at the carnival cause he had no Mom." Leena gasped a little, pulling up from the chair like she was going to find the woman herself, before Claudia wrapped her arms around the brunette woman's torso and pulled her back onto the chair. "Relax... S.J. took it as well as a seven year old could, besides we had fun regardless... He told me that was..."
Claudia squeaked, losing her wording and as Leena looked over at her, she could see the tears starting to prick in her eyes. "He told me that was the most fun he's had since his Daddy died..." Leena just nodded softly, brushing the hair from Claudia's eyes as they snuggled in tighter, completely committed to not leaving the chair tonight.
"Plus... Me and him let the air out of her tires as we were leaving, she'll have to walk home with her bitchy children... Huzzah!"
"It's going to be alright, darling..." Helena spoke softly, her support showing but her reassurance not exactly hitting the mark. Fingers curled around Myka's hand, Helena's other hand was planted in the brunette's curly locks, stroking them softly as Vanessa spread the ultrasound jelly around Myka's barely pregnant belly. "If there's anything, we caught it in time."
Vanessa looked up at Myka with a warm smile as she grabbed the second half of the ultrasound machine. She nodded in response to Helena's comment about catching it in time, as she placed the ball end over Myka's stomache and began to move it along slowly, trying to find a decent picture of the baby. "Don't you worry Myka, it's natural for women to cramp a little and bleed." She caught Helena's eye and kept her mouth shut as the Victorian woman stared at her with such an intensity that she really hoped she was right that Myka didn't have to worry.
Myka just nodded her head softly, remaining quiet as a mouse as she watched the screen with an intensity not unlike her wives. She knew that bleeding was normal, she had read up about it, but she hadn't bled when she was pregnant with Abigail or Amelia. Myka had insisted on this pregnancy, that she finally be allowed to do fieldwork, the distance memory of Amelia leaving her with mounds of paperwork, a painful reminder. Naturally, all the paperwork in the world would've seemed like a sweet escape the moment she had felt a searing pain across her stomache and disappeared to the washroom only to find rather a large amount of blood in her underwear. Myka panicked and had demanded Artie bring Vanessa from her vacation to the B&B immediately.
Vanessa smiled and pointed to the screen when she found a decent picture of the baby. "There we go!" She exclaimed, checking the looks of everything, not much to really decipher, it looked like a baby formed appropriately for how many months Myka was. If anything it was just a tiny bit small, and it seemed to be... "A girl! You two are having a third daughter!" Helena beamed brightly and leaned down to kiss Myka on the lips for a second, an action that wasn't returned if only because of the small whisper coming from the agent.
"I haven't heard a heartbeat, where is it Vanessa?"
Vanessa paused for a second, her equipment being advanced enough to double as a doppler. She froze and was flustered as she moved the doppler just a little around, the only sounds filling the room was the normal whooshing of the machine. Helena exchanged a glance with Vanessa, and the grim look on both of their faces, sold the idea to Myka and she began to shake her head back and forth, fear and emotion playing out.
"You told me we would've found anything in time... You said it was going to be alright!" She exploded, looking at H.G. with the kind of rage in her eyes that the older woman knew all to well. It was the kind of rage that was born simply from pain. "Where is the goddamn heartbeat?" Myka repeated, tears filling her eyes, the only thing keeping her from bursting into tears was to cuss and yell as loud and angrily as she could.
The room was silent for another few minutes as Myka just stared at the screen, a realization slowly coming over her and absolutely destroying her hopes and dreams with that moment. How were they going to tell the girls? How were they going to tell the others? Claudia had been so excited about the possibility that Caylah would have a little future boyfriend or girlfriend. How was she going to tell herself every morning that it had all happened for a reason... Maybe she was too old, or not in good enough health? Maybe she had already had two blessings and she was greedy for wanting more.
Thump-thump, thump-thump!
In an instant all was well again, and the three ladies could breathe again. The thought in Myka's mind not far from a "God that was a close one" and a promise never to let anything happen again where her small bump's fate would be uncertain.
Author's Note: I know it isn't Mother's Day, but this is the only full one-shot I have for Warehouse 13 that I don't care if it's not majorly betaed. Inspired by sam-jj94's want for more Bering and Wells, as well as Claudia x Leena. :) Thanks again for reading, hun.
Claudia Donavan absolutely loved holidays, no matter which one it was, everything from Christmas to Halloween to even Arbor Day had her just that tiny bit happier. Holidays were the time for families and after waiting so long to just have a family, she was determined to spend all of her future holiday's with that family.
All except for one.
Mother's day, the day where Mother's and their children celebrated being together and the day where Claudia disappeared into her room for the entire day to lament the fact that she didn't have a Mother. At first Mother's days weren't terrible, I mean, she had all of her friends that either didn't speak to their Mother's or didn't have Mother's as well. But then H.G. and Myka had their own children and Mother's day took on a whole new meaning for them.
Still she had always had Pete to pull her out of it for a while, his Mother was usually busy. This Mother's day in particular though saw Pete taking his daughter AND his Mother out for a special Mother/Grandmother day extravaganza (the first in the nearly 8 years since his daughter was born.) Myka and Helena were taking Abigail and baby Amelia to meet Myka's parents for the first time and even Leena was busy with Mrs. Frederic, who the young woman had gotten suspiciously close to in the past few years.
Claudia was left all alone... Except for one other person who was unfortunately just as parentless as her.
-------------
It was the morning of Mother's Day and Claudia was preparing her food for the day in the wee hours of the morning, hoping to escape the hassle as Pete left with Gracie and H.G. left with the girls to meet up with Myka and her parents. The only person in the kitchen was her as she made sandwiches and fixed snacks and drinks, something to keep her mind off of things as she perfected the new upgrade to her Farnsworth. That was when she heard the telltale footsteps of Leena, before a voice startled her from her job slicing cheese.
"Really, Claudia? Picnic in your room, today..." Claudia just shrugged her shoulders as she let Leena into the fridge so she could grab whatever she wanted and leave. She hated talking about her feelings about this day with any of them, let alone Leena, the intuitive brat.
"You know the drill, girl... I'm all up to party with you all on every day, but this one."
Leena sighed as she got out the peanut butter and handed it to Claudia, knowing the girl's food preferences like they were her own. In a way, she guessed they were, whatever foods Claudia enjoyed, Leena tried her hand at eating them too. "You aren't alone today though, I mean every other Mother's day before this, you were... Now you have S.J. and he's every bit as Motherless as you are."
Claudia's heart sank. How could she have forgotten about Steve's son.
The very son she had promised Steve she would take care of when he was gone. Steven James Jinks Junior didn't have a Mother either, nor a Father anymore and at only seven years old, he didn't know what to do on his Mother's days unlike her who had perfected the rhythm. He was all alone too and she had forgotten about him, although she guess she had supposed that the others would take care of him today... They probably guessed that she would though.
"I need to find him."
Leena looked up from where she was getting the oranges so Claudia could finish her orange-peanutbutter snack only to find Claudia already hightailing it out of the kitchen. "In his room!" She called out before finishing the snack herself and saving it for later in case Claudia still wanted it.

SJ was just barely waking up to the morning sun coming through his window when he was pounced on by a very excited and very loud Claudia who was completely dressed unlike barely ten minutes ago when she had been all set to spend the day in her pajamas sulking away like a lost puppy. "Wake up, buddy! Daylight is burning and we have stuff to do!"
Steve Jr. was confused as he glanced at the clock, then the calendar and then back to her. He hadn't expected to do much but lie in bed today, and he had heard things from Abigail that Claudia was going to do pretty much the same thing all day. He had expected that he would run into her maybe once or twice as he escaped to the kitchen for a sandwich and even thought that he might bring her one too just in case, but he certainly hadn't expected this.
"What are you t-talking about?" He whispered.
Claudia smiled brightly from ear to ear as she jumped off of his bed and ran to his closet to begin pulling clothes out for him to wear, a task that the young boy usually did himself but Claudia couldn't help it, a sudden freedom coming over herself. She might have grown up with terrible Mother's Days to remembered, but that didn't mean he had to, and as the son of her late absolute best friend in the world... her BFFWYLION, she wasn't going to let him waste the day away like she had planned to.
"Everywhere has deals going on for Mother's Day; restaurants, movies, amusement parks... So in honour of us both having no plans, we are going to make plans. You'll be my honorary son, and I'll be your honorary Mommy. How does that sound to you?" Within moments SJ was leaping out of bed, an excitement not unlike Claudia's coming to his young self as he realized just what that might mean for the day. No moping, no sadness, and he got to spend the day with his favourite agent.
So, I've gotten like... 30 new followers in the past week or two and that has absolutely made me feel like a million bucks guys.
So in spirit of you all, and the fandoms you might be into. Shoot me an ask and I'll write some more alphabet drabbles for whatever fandom/couple you request.
All of the fandoms/couples I will write for are tagged below. (Any shows not listed, just suggest and I might do them if I've seen them before.)
Author's Note: I just got internet back at my house, so I'll be around a lot more often! To celebrate, I decided a season's drabble four of my top fandoms would be fun... If this goes well, I might do a monthly one for my top twelve fandoms. Yes, there are twelve... :P
Springtime with the Paternosters.
Jenny Flint loved springtime, it was quite possibly her favourite season of the year. Not only did spring give her the chance to clean house almost entirely, getting rid of all the useless trinkets and things they hadn't used during the last year. That was good for her and her cleaning obsession which wouldn't be labelled as OCD for another hundred years.
Springtime was more than cleaning though when it came to new beginnings. Vastra didn't completely hibernate during the winter, she couldn't afford to do that with work, but at the same time she couldn't risk not seeing Jenny's face for close to three months. So she didn't sleep all through the winter, however she was a lot more exhausted during it and when spring finally rolled around Vastra "awakened" with a new energy that Jenny always had trouble keeping up with... both physical energy and sexual energy.
Though she never complained about either.
Summer days, drifting away...
"That's cold!" Myka shrieked as the icecube disappeared down the back of her shirt and slid down her spine, Claudia and Pete laughing hysterically as they watched her squirm. Myka wasn't laughing though, the past week had been full of nothing but childish pranks from all team members of the Warehouse. It was like she was in college again, taking heat from the popular sororities.
Claudia and Pete meant it all in good fun though, and while she wasn't a fan of cold water being dumped on her, or all of her clothes going missing one morning... The reaction she got from Helena was always more than welcome.
"We'll ignore them dear, perhaps if we don't leave our bed until Artie's home from vacation, the pranking will stop." Helena suggested with a purr, Myka not having to even think about accepting the offer before the two were behind locked doors and enjoying the rest of their vacation.
Claudia and Pete enjoyed their vacation too though, not only did the pranking target switch to someone else, but the $100 dollars a piece they received from H.G. as payment for annoying Myka into not leaving bed made a nice bankroll for the colored dye they bought for Leena's shower head.
The chill of Autumn.
Helena didn't quite grasp the concept of back to school, not when it came to her baby Kira. For Gemma and Oscar, the two didn't show up with their Mother until suppertime anyways so she was already used to not seeing them for periods of time. With Kira though it was different...
All summer long Helena had done everything with Kira, the two girls making a list of fun activities that they had meticulously crossed off the list over the course of those two months. Starting with a marathon of Harry Potter ("Why was that boy not raised by nuns? That would have stopped the devilcraft from entering him..." "Magic is the point of the movie, Auntie!") and ending with a bizarre day at an amusement park that saw them getting kicked out over Helena's freak out that Kira was going to fall from the ferris wheel, and the poor ferris wheel operators, maybe two or three stitch wound when he refused to stop the ride.
Sarah had tried to prepare Helena for weeks with the transition from spending every waking moment with Kira, to not seeing her for nearly eight hours a day... But nothing she could've done would've prevented the near catastrophic meltdown Helena had on Kira's first day upon realizing she couldn't go to third grade with Kira.
The teacher nearly had a heart attack at the sight of Helena squished into a tiny child's desk, the tiny child meant to sit at that desk, pushed onto the floor.
Winter is coming, for a few months.
Nothing quite prepared Dawn for the holidays like the smell of Tara's freshly baked christmas and hannukah sugarcookies. The mini snowmen and presents and dreidels made her feel like nothing else in the world mattered, certainly not the slaying that her sister did in graveyards at Midnight.
No, during holidays she could almost pretend that she was a normal girl... That is, if normal girls got their christmas presents wrapped by their sisters bestfriend, got tucked in on Christmas eve by said bestfriends girlfriend and spent Christmas morning with two vampires, a demon, an old British guy, two wiccan lesbians, two feuding slayers and a construction worker.
To Dawn it was normal though, and for the month surrounding the holidays, it was the best month that she ever had. Over the Christmases, their numbers would dwindle and the festivities that she got to enjoy would slowly decrease. One Christmas would see no tree at all, another had the presents destroyed by a particularly angry demon shadow creature. Every year she made sure to make Tara's famous holiday cookies though, even when the only person who would willingly eat them, was herself.
It reminded Dawn of the way things used to be, and she kinda felt normal for a while... Just a while.
"Why is a reptilian of your grace and stature, choosing to align herself with a... mammal and a... I'm not quite sure what that is." Jenny bit her tongue as she heard the Silurian warrior belittle Vastra's decisions as illogical and made in poor haste. She wanted to say something, but knew her wife'd handle it. The next comment only made her smile and want to rip her wife's clothes off in the middle of the party. "I align myself with lovely Jenny because her bark is much better than her bite and Strax is... A member of our team."
Valiant.
Vastra was a hero in every sense of the word. To the ladies she saved from brutish men, she was a hero of their maidenhood. To the men she put in jail rather than killed, she was a hero of saving their futures from becoming lunch. To Jenny, she was a hero every day and every moment they spent together. Vastra was not only the one who had saved her from the men, she had saved her from her future of nothingness, and she saved her from the dark thoughts that plagued her everyday. Vastra was Jenny's valiant white knight.
Wibbly-Wobbly.
The Doctor was a bit of a strange duck, everyone knew that, but nobody knew that as intensely as Jenny when she caught him standing over her son's crib whispering things about Wibbley-Wobbley, Timey-Wimey things that he would only understand when he got older. Jenny didn't question this, not at the time, but years down the road as she watched after her darling daughters beautiful twin babies and she found her own son above their crib whispering the same things, she gave it some serious thought. Later when they were revealed as special too, she told herself she always knew.
The Ex.
Vastra didn't have any previous encounters of a most romantic kind, at least none that were still alive, so when Jenny and her bumped into one of the brunettes previous encounters on the street, Vastra was just the tiniest bit bothered. This girl was beautiful, not as beautiful as her Jenny but certainly better than a lizard with a crest and scales. She knew Jenny had chosen her over the other, but still something didn't settle with her, it was only until she was in bed later did Jenny reassure her of her jealous thoughts. "You were my endless wonder."
Youth.
"I 'ave spots on my face." Jenny would complain one day, giving Vastra cause for concern. "Illness, my love?" She asked as simply as she could, despite the panic in her heart. Jenny would sigh and shake her head with a short, ill-tempered "No... Aging... I'm getting older love, you'll need replace me soon." and Vastra would laugh like she'd never before then cupping Jenny's aging face, she kissed it with as much love and passion as she had their first kiss. "Darling, if our relationship was based on age, you'd have left me long ago. I'm no spring lizard."
Zippers.
Madame Vastra had always loved the future and what it held, new inventions and ideas. Most of them were fantastic, except for one... Zippers. No matter how it was explained, she couldn't understand what use they were. They were useless metal used to keep clothing together when clothes normally stayed together in her era without needing assistance, it was superfluous. Not to mention they were difficult when paired with her scaled hands... Even the largest zippers slipped through her grasp. On her fourth attempt, Vastra decided that zippers were not necessary and ripped Jenny's pants off the good old way.
"I'd get your filthy ape hands off my wife if I were you." Vastra growled at the man who had come running over to hug Jenny once they had stepped off the TARDIS into the time era that 'needed them' as the Doctor had said. Jenny had blushed a bright red, but had too stepped away from the man, not knowing him as well as knowing how her wife could get even if she did know him. The man just chuckled before leaning in to hug Vastra too. "Always were the same kind of jealous, eh Mother?" They both gaped.
Quirks.
For the 100 things that Vastra loved about Jenny, there was one thing that drove her absolutely and entirely bonkers. The lip biting that the woman seemed to do without noticing whenever she was deep in thought. Vastra hated AND loved it. Jenny didn't seem to notice the affect it was having on her wife one day until she found herself pulled into Vastra's lap and kissed hard. "You have something on your lips..." Vastra had said with a husky whisper. "Oh really? What?" Jenny blushed a light pink before Vastra leaned in to kiss her again. "Yes really... Mine."
Returned.
One day the Doctor returned to Vastra's manor and was met with a horrifying sight, the respectable lizard he had saved a long time ago was gone and in place was the anger he'd saved her from. He'd barely walked inside before being pinned, her eyes red with hate. "Why?!" She cried in a voice too shrill to sound real. "Why let me keep her if I would have had to give her away forty years later!" The Doctor only bowed his head, sadness in his eyes. "Vastra... Forty years is long for a human." Vastra growled. "Not long enough."
Stolen.
"Who has acquired my favourite grenade under false ownership! I demand to know this persons name so I can destroy their family!" Jenny had to hold back a snicker as Strax went room to room in the manor looking for his 'stolen' grenade in a bit of a fit. Vastra shot her a look but that was quickly faltered by her wife's adorable smirk as she showed Vastra the grenade hidden in her knitting basket. "Careful dear, you know how Strax packs those things." Jenny immediately went pale and stood up rapidly, running after him. "Strax! I found your grenade!"
Timelord.
He was brave like a lion, charming like a gentleman and kind like a child. Jenny couldn't be more proud of him if she tried, their son was a timelord like the Doctor and a damn good one at that. Some days though she could see the pain in his eyes and she knew he had been to see them in the future. She never asked what he had seen, he never told her and frankly that's the way she liked it. But it was on those awful days that she wished just once, he'd be able to be normal.
The first life that Jenny Flint took was at the battle of Demon's Run. She didn't pay much attention to it at first, I mean... They were kind of busy. It was only after the battle was over and she was on her way home with Vastra did it really sink in. "I'm a killer." She would mumble later, snuggled up in bed with her Madame. Alarmed by the tone she had, Vastra's head shot up and her heart sank. She had wanted to keep Jenny from this, but that seemed impossible. "You're not a killer, darling, you're a protector."
Lost.
On her eleventh birthday, Adelaide got completely and irrevocably lost in downtown London. At first it wasn't a really big thing, I mean Adelaide used to be a street kid and knew how to take care of herself. She hadn't been a street kid in over three years though, and living with two loving parents who jumped when you got hurt, well that tended to make your street smarts rusty. She didn't even know how she had gotten lost, the only thing she remembered was running away and by the time she was done running, not knowing where she was.
Missing.
Jenny had just put down the baby for a nap and turned back to ask Adelaide what she wanted to do for her birthday when she noticed her little girl was gone. She had felt bad for ignoring her as long as she did, but the baby was just so fussy today that she had barely even had time to wish her daughter a happy birthday. Jenny's heart leapt into her throat, Adelaide rarely left her alone when she was minding to her infant brother. When she heard Strax confirm that Adelaide wasn't downstairs, Jenny knew that trouble was afoot.
Nobody.
When Strax found Adelaide, she didn't cry but she almost did. Not only was she cold and slightly afraid, but the appearance of the battle potato had only confirmed that her parents were too busy for her. It was only when Strax had taken her into his arms, that she broke down. "Mummy and Mehse don't have anymore time for me with the new baby around... It's my birthday, today, Strax, and nobody remembered about it!" Strax took one look at the teary child and barked out a laugh. "Child, nobody, loves you more than the boy and the madame."
Ownership.
Adelaide got home that night and knew she was in trouble from the moment she stepped foot into the parlour. Her Mehse didn't do anything but stare, Jenny on the other hand ran over and squeezed her tightly. Whispering a harsh but loving. "You belong to and with me! Don't you forget that, little mouse!" Vastra just glared for a second before her features softened and she raised to hold the child, pulling her into her strong lizard-like arms and gave her a talk. "We are yours just as much as we are his, he just needs us differently... Okay?"
Jenny had prepared to bring the iron fist down on the 'children' once she realized what they'd done to her kitchen, but the look on both the Doctor and Strax's face was too miserable. Not to mention anything she said wouldn't be taken seriously with Vastra laughing hysterically beside her. The kitchen was no laughing matter, covered in flour, eggs and some weird black substance on the walls... She was ready to cuff them both 'round the head, but when Strax pointed to the Doctor and complained that 'he started it' all Jenny could do was laugh and forgive them.
Gurgle.
It was the worst sound in the world, at least to Vastra's ears. To most it would sound disturbing enough, but with her superior hearing, she could hear every slosh and gurgle of water splashing around in her and Jenny's daughters lungs. The girl had been left unattended for just a minute, she wasn't even supposed to be on the dock... She had fallen in. They had gotten her out almost immediately, but still Vastra didn't breathe until their daughter did. Even then, as Jenny held the girl tightly in her arms later that night, Vastra could still hear gurgling.
Held.
The safest place in the world to Jenny was Vastra's arms... while most might not be a fan of the cool, smooth scales that Vastra was famous for, Jenny craved that feeling every moment that she didn't have it. Jenny had seen Vastra use the strength of her arms to crush an enemy where they stood, but with her, Vastra had never been anything but gentle (except for their rough play). She loved holding and being held by Vastra. Everything just felt right when it came to her beautiful Silurian lover, and those arms were the center of it all.
Instigate.
"You did that on purpose." Vastra hissed as she felt Jenny squeeze by her in that tight corridor, the maid's entire body pressed into hers for a fleeting second before she was off down the hall with a little giggle and a "'Scuse me, Ma'am!" Vastra had known better that it was no accident and she flicked her tongue out playfully at Jenny. "No, I di'nt!" Jenny argued but the look in her eyes said something entirely different. Vastra could only reply by grabbing her love and pushing her up against the wall with a grunt and a passionate kiss.
Jurassic.
Jenny threw herself at the Doctor in a panic, her hands beating on his chest repeatedly. "Take us back! Take us back!" The Doctor stared at her in confusion as she continued to freak out. "Jenny, why?" She grimaced. Then she paused. And a sigh. "I don't like dinosaurs..." The Doctor stared. "What?" Jenny whimpered as she stared out at the dark, prehistoric forest in front of her. "They scare me..." More staring. "Jenny, you're married to a lizard!" The Victorian maid's shoulders slumped before she mumbled. "Yeah, but I know how to tame her." And waited by the TARDIS.
