Have you heard? || BPoS || Swynlake Port || Marieweather

Merryweather had been Marie’s maid for half a decade now, and Marie was quite convinced that they knew each other well. Or, at least, Merryweather knew her. And it was proven by the suggestion she made now, as Marie pressed one hand to her stomacher and used the other to keep fanning herself, watching the crowds of people go past. Going down to the water was just what she needed, in fact. Shopping, in all these crowds, had been rather a terrible idea.
“Let’s head towards the cove.” She agreed, taking a deep breath and setting her shoulders back, holding her chin up a little higher. Correcting her posture was her go-to when she was upset, when she felt out of control. It helped to ground her, and it helped her now to push through the crowds and break away from the business of the Port, walking through the dunes and down to the shoreline.
Marie took a long, deep breath of the salty sea air, and felt herself relax a little. Looking at the ships off in the horizon didn’t help, particularly, but the sound of the waves against the sand and the steady line of the horizon made her feel at least somewhat at peace. “It’s so much more peaceful down here,” She admitted to Merryweather with a small, grateful smile. “And so much cooler, too. I thought I was about to collapse back there.”
.
This was Merryweather’s favorite place on the island. Because it was proof, at least, that this tiny island she had been stuck on was not the only place in the world. The ships came and went and Merryweather thought about running away and boarding one. But she knew she couldn’t do that. It was impulsive and silly, and Merryweather could put herself in serious danger. And she couldn’t leave Marie behind. What would Marie do without me?, Merryweather thought.
“I could tell,” Merryweather replied knowingly, looking out at the horizon. She prided herself on being good at her job, even if she found it tedious at times. “You don’t want to overexert yourself, you know? You’re already under enough stress. I’m sure if there’s anything you need I can send some of the other staff to go get it for you. Have you heard anything from John?”
