forsythia knows him - not by name, but having seen him around. wasn’t he involved in a sport of some kind…? she could have sworn, sometime last year, that she had seen him swimming during one of her few times in attendance at wyatt’s meets. of course, she’s seen him around the dorms as well - that’s a given. but she can’t recall his name, not in the slightest.
not wanting to be impolite, she avoids calling attention to her inability to recall who he is - she settles on neutral terms to refer to him instead, although she’s sure it sounds just as awkward.
“hey… you,” she says. her eyebrows furrow slightly as she assesses him. “evil genius… evil but not a genius… i swear, i’m smarter than this - ugh, i’ve spent too long on these fools, it’s got me all tangled up.”
she flicks the page loudly for added dramatics. “we did, and i guess i didn’t get the grip on it back then either…” she grumbles.
not wanting to bother him with her bout of confusion, she adds in a fluster, “i really ought to ask one of the experts around here for more clarification.” it definitely comes across more rude than she intends - and she knows it, too. she’s immediately cringing at the way it sounds.
minjun does quite a bit of random stuff around since he’s one of the graduate prefects for toseong and is often the one that people get sent to for answers to various questions. of course, he’s also in swimming and then there’s the two clubs he’s taken on as well as his extensive work in his major and minor, respectively. he comes off as a bit of an airhead especially after swimming but slowly the clarity often returns to the genius after he’s eaten. he makes a point of remembering his classmates’ names and while the girl seemed to not actually know him all that well, he simply grinned at her.
Neutral terms sound so awkward but he’s not going to judge her on that. He reaches for the coffee and takes a long sip as he glances at her notes briefly.
“if you’ve spent too long on these fools, there’s more coming up. But I’d recommend taking a break, and actually eating something and coming back to this duo with fresh eyes and a full stomach,” he states. He genuinely wants to help but when she flicks the page loudly for dramatics, mj simply turns his attention to his food.
His chlorine haze is finally clearing up and he remembers when they did that chapter. “Well, you can always ask people for help if you didn’t get a grasp on it when we did it,” he adds.
As she states in a fluster that she really ought to ask one of the experts for more clarification, mj nods. “sounds like a good idea. They will probably direct you to the prefect then,” he states. He doesn’t mind the rudeness, after all, he gets it. Frustration stemming from classes and not properly explained subject matter. He’s pretty sure that if she goes to ask other people for help, they will direct her back to him but why not? He’s bored and it’s the morning, so he wants to see what she will do.
