I finished my Monster Sona Fearbook
just one page + some character descriptions
Yes, I made these monsters on google slides using the shape tool. Hey, no flash photography now... heh...
Anyways, now it's time for me to go into the excited rambling stage of this post.
All the fan-made monsters in this photo are juniors at Monsters University. The first girl is Princess's best friend. She's the exact opposite of her. Very chatty, social butterfly, and jumpy.
Sadly, I haven't decided on a name for her yet. If you have any ideas, please let me know!
While making these characters, I made my own species that I have named the Swab species or just Swabs.
They are closely related to the insect-like monsters, but their most notable qualities are their two far-apart eyes (hence, swab, like the shape of a cotton swab), segmented bodies, and pointed antennas.
I haven't decided much on any of the characters, these being no exception, but I did decide that- if there ever was a story/comic made for my sona, these two would be the antagonists. Their color schemes are similar, which was truly coincidental, but are nice together.
The blue Swab is affiliated with The Campus Roar club. She's super enthusiastic and hip so she tends to use that to get the scoop on unsuspecting students (she's very extroverted). The red Swab is attached to no clubs, but is rumored to be the niece of Dean Hardscrabble. The two are always creeping around the quad, both making the overheard stories a catalyst for future drama.
Just a short note on this lil guy. He has one glass eye, like Rodger Rodgers. He's apart of the Yearbook club. He's also got a creative streak for fashion and makes sewn garments between classes.
Now that I'm thinking about it, none of the characters, except for Princess, have names. Well, Princess AND Gloopy Slodge (image under this), which is a name picked out by one of my wonderful friends, walletz.
Actually, I'd really love it if you guys came up with some names for me or for fun. I suck absolute ass when it comes to naming my characters. Also, I don't mind if you guys ever draw or make lore for any of these characters (except for the ones I have mentioned on this post). I love being able to share art with you all, and I love getting community feedback even more. <3
Anyways, I'd just like to say this was really fun, and if you haven't ever tried making art out of shapes, you should try it. It's definitely challenging, but the final product speaks for itself. I'd also like to say, thank you so much for all the support you guys have been giving me. When I first made a Tumblr account, it was a non-serious decision and I didn't think I'd actually use it, but here I am, posting at almost every chance I get. I hope whoever is reading this has a wonderful week and good fortunes come your way.
Never stop being creative, peace!
