🌍 does their personality differ in your portrayal of them in nationverse vs. human aus? if yes, how?

tbh i don’t write many AUs so it’s hard to say but i think broadly with hetalia characters, the answer is “it depends.” gilbert especially i headcanon as having pretty different characteristics in different time periods—i guess his overall personality is mostly the same, he certainly imo has some core traits (which i imagine would also generally carry over into different AUs), ie his love of being Annoying On Purpose, his need for orderliness, etc. for example i personally headcanon that after 1918 he became extremely jaded about things (war) that he’d previously been very enthusiastic about, and i know some people have a similar hc about post-1945 (or ‘48), and that’s a really huge transition for him to make. in an AU, would i be basing his personality on bring solely before or after that transition? would i be trying to mirror the transition somehow? so yeah, It Depends lol

📚 choose one hc about this character to make canon: what would it be?

that he’s vegan present day! id love in general if he had some more Stereotypical Berliner moments (and some Ossi moments besides the brief trabi cameo lol) and it’s already canon that he apparently can’t bring himself to eat food that looks like animals lol (such as marzipan pigs)

🔍 is there something about them you think isn't as recognised as it should be in the fandom? (a personality trait, relationship with another character, historical time period that isn't explored much with them, etc.)

because all the prussia fans i see are also massive history nerds and his canon personality is actually pretty easy to nail down i don’t really think so—except in both canon and fanon i’d love to see more duchy era gil, i think it’s a great time period to explore his personality after some really really massive shifts (becoming fully a State and not being connected to the knights anymore, the protestant reformation, etc) as well as his relationships with others (PLEASE give me more moments of tolys being a bitch to him lmao)
