Michael Anastassiades describes the String Lights.
LAMP CRUSH - FLOS STRING LIGHTS by MICHAEL ANASTASSIADES
«When I sit on a train travelling, I always see these strings of electricity out of the window. It’s so beautiful and poetic the way they connect the pylons but at the same time they divide the landscape. I wanted to translate this into interior architecture.»
"I was interested in the way lighting cables mark space. When villages host parties they just put up four posts in the village square, connect them with a string of lights and then you have an area where everyone can tell the party is taking place. There's a little bit of that in the design. I love the way it divides the space architecturally, but it attempts to solve a practical problem at the same time: you move into a house and an electricity point is never where you want it to be for a ceiling light. So if you can't have the flexibility of putting a floor lamp in, how do you solve that problem? The String light is just about finding an interesting, poetic solution to that." - Michael Anastassiades
Some additional info I could find:
You can get the lamps with 12 or 22 meters cable. There is a wall and a floor power supply with a plug. The wall supply is for up to two lamps, the floor switch only for one. Using the wall supply, the cabling has to be cut in the right length, whilst the floor adapter can keep up to 10 meters of cable (you roll it up).
The best: The lamp can be switched and dimmed via an optical sensor on top of the respective pendant AND via smartphone app over bluetooth (and with the floor switch to name all options).
However, I was not able to find the app as yet. It is also unclear how many hooks are included. I will have to contact Flos in this regard.
The company is said to have issued a design booklet explaining the different hanging configurations (via http://www.wallpaper.com/design/michael-anastassiades-string-lights-hit-flos-stores-accompanied-by-a-booklet-and-app-to-untangle-their-installation/7384). This seems also not available for download but should come with each lamp purchase.
You can find an accompanying video here: Flos Michael Anastassiades String Lights on Vimeo
BTW, I would love to see the lamp with supply and cables in white. Do you listen Flos?

I think I always had a perfectly clear view of what was possible for the public. Give ‘em what they never knew they wanted.

You gotta have style. It helps you get down the stairs. It helps you get up in the morning. It’s a way of life. Without it, you’re nobody. I’m not talking about lots of clothes.
