Extreme Knitting with @jacquifink
For more extreme knitting, follow @jacquifink on Instagram.
Using custom-built, industrial-sized knitting needles, Jacqui Fink (@jacquifink) uses her whole body to knit extreme-scale textiles and art installations at her home in Sydney. “It’s one part bonkers, two parts beautiful and three parts the best therapy there is,” she says. Jacqui, whose mother taught her to knit as a child, returned to the craft after a career in law and being bolstered by a moment of inspiration. “I had a vision, which transformed my life and opened the door to extreme knitting. While I was asleep, a big, loud booming voice said to me, ‘You have to knit, and it needs to be big.’ The command was as terrifying as it was profound,” she says. “There was no way I wasn’t going to listen to it.”
Jacqui uses high-grade merino roving, yarn and wools sourced from Australia and New Zealand. Effectively handling delicate merino wool on a large scale took her over two years of research and experimentation. She sits on an armless chair to support the needles — over three and a half feet (110 centimeters) long, made of PVC plumber’s pipe with hand-turned timber ends — and the weight of the wool, which can be 11 pounds (5 kilograms) for an average throw. “The terrific thing about extreme knitting is that you get rewarded very quickly for all your hard work. You can knit yourself a scarf in an hour, a throw in four and king-size blanket in six,” she says.
Launching her own business, Little Dandelion, Jacqui aims to create pieces that will last a lifetime, not one season, and is constantly driven by her passion for merino wool over and above the technical skills. “You need to let go of all of your preconceived notions about what it is to knit in order to be able to really enjoy it,” she advises.
Jacqui adds that she is also driven by knitting’s therapeutic qualities: “It is a very ritualistic process involving a beautiful rhythm between the heart, hand and eye. Once you become adept at the various techniques, you really don’t have to think about what you are doing and so your mind is set free to wander.”

So many fall shades to fall in love with.
I can always count on the quality and great colors of Essie.
My name is Jacqueline Capriotti and I have wealthy background in the field of cosmetics, skincare, and fashion. I have been encouraged by many to start publishing what I have learned over the years and continue to do so. I will admit I am a ultimate cosmetic junkie, that is what got me in the business and frankly lifestyle. My mother was a huge influence on me. She is an absolutely brilliant and talented woman. My mom is one of the most creative people I know, and has influenced me greatly. She has a Masters in Chemical Engineering but also can design a beautiful gown, feng shui your home, traveled the world, speak multiple languages and stage a great photo session for fun. She has such exquisite style, that she puts you in the mind of Iris Apfel. My mother is Romanian who married a Brit, produced me, then we all emigrated to US in '79. NJ to be precise. So, I was that kid at the sleepovers who was "Season" typing you and doing everyone's makeover. One of my favorite life memories and experiences was when I had my first professional makeover. I will never forget it. I was 12 and my mom took me to Lord & Taylor in the Rockaway Mall in NJ. I remember the purple eye shadow from Lancôme that the beauty consultant applied on me. I was amazed how shockingly green my eyes looked. Oh, how totally 80's is that eye. Going to Macy's or Lord & Taylor for Gift with Purchase (GWP- get used to that term now because I promise that it will be used a lot from here on) with Clinique (especially), Estee Lauder, Lancôme, etc. My first job in the cosmetic field was at 16. I was a vendor for several different fragrance companies. Yes I was a perfume girl in the 80's. that meant I promoted Christian Dior (my favorite, at the time), Carolina Herrera, Guerlain, and Calvin Klein. I was that annoying person that tried to squirt perfume on you. After high school, I attended Jean Madeline Aveda Institute in Philadelphia. There I learned about skincare, makeup artistry, waxing, reflexology, and aromatherapy. I finally felt truly at home. this led me to work with dermatologists, plastic surgeons, and cosmetic injectables. I gained experience in cosmetics in just about every aspect you can imagine; wedding/special occasion, photography, film, and special F/X. I have worked with burn victims, and people with challenging skin conditions, such as; chemotherapy burns, port wine stain and vitiligo. Earlier in my career, I enjoyed working with Ellen Le Fleur Ehrlich and her company RX Formula. There I learned about Glycolic Peels, extractions, skin cancer and the artistry of facials at The Warwick Hotel in Philly. I moved onto to the retail industry, working for Nordstrom, starting out by launching a Philosophy counter in Freehold, NJ and moving up to assistant cosmetic department manager. I have also enjoyed some time with theatrical makeup, including Hairspray at Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank , NJ and many productions at Actors Playground School of Theatre. Most recently I have worked in Dermatology again with All-County Dermatology in NJ. So as you can see, I have a little obsession with skin and cosmetics. I can't say I know everything, KNOW DOES! However, I am really good at figuring it out based off my experience and my connections. So please follow my blog and help participate in it. I really would like to see it become a collaborative endeavor.
NYX
Ok let’s talk about NYX Cosmetics This line really has a great taste of many and I mean Many different products. It is a great line to experiment with, especially for someone starting out and trying to find their look without breaking the bank. A great line for teens to play with and wonderful stocking stuffer products. ULTA Beauty carries I believe the entire line, Target has a smaller version of the line. So what’s your favorite NYX product? https://www.facebook.com/NyxCosmetics
No. 7 was always my lucky #
Just picked this up and love it. Boot's No. 7 Shine & Tint. It's a buildable tint and lip gloss. Very light feel to it, wear it on its own, with a lip liner, or on top of lipstick. No. 7 line is a Cosmetic line from a famous British Pharmacy, Boots UK. Target has a decent but limited selection of the line. This includes Shine & Tint yeah!! My fave color Posey but love them all. Goes really well over Laura Mercier Rouge Nouveau Weightless Lip Colour
When it's worth it
Foundation is your brick and mortar
This is a question I get a lot. I would say if you can, spend the big bucks in some of your skincare and foundation. Although there are a few “drugstore” foundations that are ok and maybe better than ok, there are definitely some superior foundations and concealer, as well.
Many Laura Mercier’s Foundations are heavenly, here I go again with Mercier. You were warned but I do have a more than slight obsession with the line and I do not work for the line, although I have worked with it when I work at Nordstrom. These products are fantastic. The Smooth Finish Flawless Fluid has amazing coverage but it truly invisible once worked into skin. Mercier has some nice cool tones also which I find many lines lack. The tinted moisturizer comes in oil-free and hydrating and has reasonable coverage for a tinted moisturizer. It is great for teens and summer skin. My only issue with it is that the SPF is only 20, which means you should apply a moisturizer underneath with spf 30 or higher, the recommended minimum by the Skin Cancer Foundation.
Rouge Nouveau Weightless Lip Colour
Cloud 9 lips
Laura Mercier’s Rouge Nouveau Weightless Lip Colour is unlike any lip product I have ever used. It is 100% wax free long-wearing lightweight lip color. It feels like you barely have anything on and does not bleed, smudge, or crumble. I recommend using Mercier’s (yes I am a fan and I warn you will see a lot of her products in my blogs) Lip liner, try red chocolate liner it goes with so many colors from nude to deepest colors depending on how much pressure you use when applying it. The product comes in several finishes Matte, Sheer, Pearl, and Creme. My favorite tint is Sin. Top with a lip balm, lip gloss, or even use it as a base for your regular lipstick.
