Normal Woman Moment
Hey look at this
4cahn vs. Tumblr
Everyone on Tumblr:
How I think 4chan users are acting:
And i’m just over here like:
Because really… why can’t we just ship 4chumblr?
I’ve been saying for a long time that Jordan Peterson is controlled opposition.
Shilling for a China-tier ban on anonymous accounts only serves our enemies, anyone with half a brain can see that anonymity is the most basic prerequisite for publishing actual dissident content online without having your life ruined.
Good faith actors do not punch rightwards
Yep, and railing against anonymity online is one of the biggest indicators that someone either fundamentally doesn’t get it or is a bad actor. Considering he’s also been roped into first the “intellectual dark web”-op and now Ben Shapiro’s fake right media ecosystem I’m assuming the latter
He’s so far gone, man.
He should fuck off out of politics.
It’s been slow going recently, but at least it’s something.
I couldn’t help but throw in an artist version. Creativity struggles man.
“Fiction affects reality”
Yes. But fiction is not reality and it doesn’t make us do anything. Fiction affects our feelings. Regarding our emotions, our brains activate the same regions that respond to real events when we read fiction. That’s why we feel for the characters in stories. That does not mean that fiction makes us do anything, and also, it doesn’t mean that the creators of fiction are somehow responsible for the mental health or morals of the audience. It’s always an individual’s responsibility to choose what fiction to consume, how to react to it (as in, what actions to take), and to make sure they have a healthy concept of reality.
Fiction and its creators have in no way a responsibility to be some edifying moral influence in the audience’s life. Audiences have 100% of the responsibility to curate their fictional consumption wisely.
I agree, but that doesn’t mean you can do anything in fiction either. I’m sorry, but you can’t write a story that romanticizes rape or ultra-toxic or pedophile relationships, for example, on the pretext that it’s fiction. “it’s fiction” does not excuse everything.
We absolutely can write that, or anything else we want. Just like the writers of Hannibal or the Saw movies could, for example. It’s not real, and readers are supposed to have their own moral compass and decide upon watching/reading: “Oh wow, this is super fucked-up.” Fiction doesn’t exist to instil morals, and fiction doesn’t exist to only be harmless and pleasant. There is absolutely no “excuse” needed for writing whatever horrible shit the author wants. Thought-crimes do not exist. Tell me, why “can’t” people write those things? “Because they’re immoral if they happen in real life,” is not an argument.
I grew up in a time (1980’s-1990’s) and in a community (Fundamentalist Protestant) in which fiction was supposed to teach morals and was, in fact, the only function of fiction as seen by many in said time and said community. It goes without saying that many children’s and religious programs, with a few handful of exceptions, were preachy and objectively terrible with zero complexity or actual entertainment value because the villains were obviously villainous just for the sake of it and the good guys were good because they said so.
I really don’t want to be forced to watch that sort of media again, because unattainable “purity” in fiction usually leads to crappy writing and zero entertainment value. Plus the more likely reaction to pedophilia, murder, abuse, etc. in fiction for adults is “wow, this is fucked up” and not “it’s a good idea to imitate this”.
if you consume a Problematic Media and are genuinely concerned that you might emulate the problematic elements, you’re either still 5 and shouldn’t be on the internet without a trusted adult to monitor you, or you should get checked into a psych ward because you’re clearly too fragile of mind to be making your own decisions
Every time I see one of these things I’m left baffled at how apparently kids these days are incapable of ever showing the will or restraint that was common of every human being in history.
I’m convinced social media, tiktok and all that basically nuked “impulse control”.- Hell, the entire New Internet landscape is entirely build around totally hijacking impulse control for financial gain.
I’m not surprised these people absolutely lack any form of “restraint”. No better than beasts, tbh.
I miss the days when fandoms like Yu-Gi-Oh would come up with 5 billion ships, name them all, and then proceed to ship the hell out of them without caring that only the vanilla-nerd-wish-fulfillment one would even qualify as canon.
Today you can't post about a ship without 5 people claiming it was canon all along just on a different astral plane, 10 people arguing it was never canon like they're the only ones with a galaxy brain that can understand cartoons for ages 6-and-up, and the 3 people screaming "bring me the smelling salts!!" because the idea of an imaginary relationship is just too much for their fragile sensibilities to bear.
I’m know I’m not the first person to say this, but any newbies on tumblr really need to understand how different this is from a lot of other social media. Particularly tiktok.
I just saw a creator on tiktok reminding followers that it’s actually a problem when someone goes back to the earliest post and watches all the posts chronologically, liking and commenting along the way. The stupid app recognizes it as spam or something and then kinda puts a halt on their account? Literally punishing people for positive engagement?? 🥴🤦♀️
I’ve already heard people saying years back how they don’t want to be “creepy” and go through a persons blog, liking and reblogging tons of stuff. But think how many more people are going to be worried about it now, thinking they might do actual damage! Most people, especially younger people, are so used to the way tiktok works now. So please, do not ever worry about this on here. Just remember-
You will never do any harm if you go on a like and reblog fest through someone’s tumblr blog! The only risk you’re taking is to make the blog owner weep for joy!! 😭🤣
If Ted Cruz wasn’t a total paid shill, I think he would be pretty cool to hang out with.
Alas!
What animal is Snorlax supposed to be?
Oh.
Yeah, I see it.
while kim kitsuragi is an amazing character and i do not mean to diminish that, i think a big reason people are so obsessed with him is wish fulfillment.
the idea of being at your lowest point, absolute rock bottom, and still be treated kindly and patiently and respectfully, without being swaddled. that someone would look at you, pathetic and miserable and confused and still take a bullet for you. the idea that no matter how much of a fuck up you are you can still do things this put together, competent man cannot. and that you can make him smile, enjoy himself, that your relationship is not just taking, but also giving.
kim kitsuragi is not happy about the situation and he has every right to that, but still he tells you: okay, you have clearly lost the plot, let's put one foot in front of the other and see where that leads the two of us. and that's all you need to step away from the abyss
I feel like Kim thinks in first person. That is: I don't think he actually separates his skills in his brain. He still has them, but they don't talk to him like Harry's do, and they wouldn't have distinct appearances. So rather than skill portraits, I think if we were to ever get Kim's POV, his portrait would just change to show which base attribute is being used. Which part of his brain/body he's thinking with. So erm. Yeah. I impulsively did some edits/paint-overs lol.
reddit, how do I make my firstborn stop playing with the fans, the ornaments, and the makeup when he is supposed to be a warlord. I fear I shall raise a poet.
Absolutely based quote my dude
after eight years, I finally updated my huge Historical Fashion Reference & Resources Doc! Now in the form of a MUCH more easily updated Google Doc with better organization, refreshed links, and five more pages of books and online resources.
I know tumblr hates links, but it’s worth it for a doc that I can now update with far more regularity going forward! RIP to the original, you did your duty for far longer than you should have. 😔🙏🏼
