Mali sighed looking around the busy stores, she loved christmas shopping, she loved any shopping but she didn’t enjoy the big crowds that always ended up in the stores. Sure she could have done it earlier but that would mean she was an organized person who had her life together, which she wasn’t. She shrugged to herself and decided that the only thing she could do was window shopping, she pouted to herself until she spotted a familiar hair of dark hair and very quietly walked towards him, sneaky enough that he didn’t realize that she was right behind him until she whispered in his ear “boo!”

     ❝ but when will i ever use it ? the down payment’s cheap, but the car itself is worth what ? almost seventy-thousand for the really good specs ? that’s a lot of money for something that i’m probably going to use once or twice a year… whatever, fuck it. ❞ he types in his payment details as fast as he can, darting his cursor towards the ‘ buy it now ’ button before releasing a loud sigh and pressing down, the screen now showing a BIG confirmation page. ❝       why do i feel so guilty about spending money ? maybe i need some exposure therapy ! what else should we buy ? ❞

“I don’t know much about sound financial decisions but I can assure you that was one.” She said smiling at him and patting his shoulder. “Are you really giving me full power to tell you what else you should buy?” She asked him excitedly. “What are the chances I can get you to buy me something?”

Frankie was picking up their pizza order. They arrived too early and were standing, back against the wall, staring down at their phone as they mindlessly scrolled Instagram. They were trying to look busy. But when their name was called, they stepped forward and bumped into a waitress. “Oh my gosh, sorry! Are you good?”

Mali startled as she bumped into someone making her tray full of empty glasses a little more unbalanced than she would have liked, she took a second to straighten that up and looked up to see who she had bumped into. “Yeah, yeah, thanks no worries.” She smiled at them. “Are you okay, though? thank the universe i didn’t have anything to spill, I’m so sosry.”

Noah walked up to the pizza place and saw the waitress standing outside. “Not ready to face the crowd?” He joked, sticking his tongue out at her. “It’s getting too cold to stand out here.” He was all bundled up already, only thing he didn’t put on yet was a hat, just an ear warmer to protect his ears but keep his hair free. He liked to have his hair out for as long as possible in the winter.

“Not all of us have your charm and ability to deal with people.” Mali joked back smiling at Noah. She shrugged, she was cold but she was on her break and she was gonna make the best of it “Are you willing to brave the weather with me until my break ends?” She asked raising an eyebrow. “Or will I see you inside when I go back to work? I warn you that you are getting to use my worker discount with just one of those options.”

      DECEMBER’S ALWAYS A GOOD time for dakota. usually the twenty-six year old’s quite frugal and won’t spend much money, but december means that christmas is near and that’s definitely a valid excuse to start spending a whole lot of cash ! ❝ mali, help me. i need your opinion on something very important. ❞ he turns his laptop around so the other’s able to view the car that’s currently on his screen. ❝ do i preorder the tesla cybertruck ? it’s ugly as fuck but it also looks kinda cool… help. ❞ 

Mali looked at him with a debelieving face. “Are you for real?” She said as she moved to sit next to him and look at his laptop. “I can’t believe you are even asking?” She said shaking her head. “Of course you should preorder it, when else are you gonna have the chance to have a truck that looks like it belongs in the graphics of a 90′s game, you have the money, use it as you should and get weird cool stuff”

Mali looked around calmly sipping her drink, everyone was dancing and having a good time but she needed a second or two to calm down and rest, besides she enjoyed observing people, seeing how they moved, how they acted, their little quirks,it was all just extremely interesting to her and she could spend the whole night doing just that. She should have known Valentina wouldn’t let her, though. The other girl appeared quickly in front of her, laughing and exclaiming loudly that this was her favorite song and she just needed to dance with her. Mali laughed too, letting herself be dragged to the dancefloor holding tight to the other girl’s hand.

“I’m just accepting cause it’s you.” She let her know over the music. “But it’s just one song and then I’m back to chilling, okay?”

lydia was out purchasing some new art supplies,  she’d allowed her collection to shrink far more than she’d been comfortable with,  and she felt the need to replenish her supply before she actually ran out of something in the middle of a project.  her arms were full,  she’d foolishly neglected to grab a cart when she first began her shopping trip,  knowing full well she’d be getting more than she could carry,  and she was mentally scolding herself as some of her items continued to fall out of her arms and onto the floor of the store.  ❝  um,  excuse me,  ❞  she says,  addressing the person nearest to her.  ❝  i really hate to bother you,  but do you think you could give me a hand ?  i grabbed way more than i could carry,  and i still need to get some more things.  i really should’ve grabbed a cart.  ❞

Mali turned around searching for the person who has adressed her and smiled when she saw who it was “Hi!” She exclaimed delighted to run into the other girl  “Of course no problem!” She offered lydia her empty arms, she wasn’t in the store to buy anything anyways,she didn’t have enough money for it right now. She was just browsing, seeing what she could buy when her next paycheck got to her and well she just enjoyed being surrounded by art supplies, in her opinion there was nothing better to be surrounded by. “Do you maybe want me to go grab you a cart maybe, though?”

Mali was calmly exiting the kitchen, a bag of chips on her hands when it happened. She really wasn’t ready, not expected this in any way, it was rare that lia pulled such pranks on her, which is why they worked so perfectly when she did, mali guessed. As soon as she saw her jump in front of her Mali took her hand to her heart and let a little squeal as she jumped a step back. She looked at lia who was way too pleased with herself and said the one thing she could in this situtaion “stop, i could've dropped my croissant”

LYDIA

growing up,  her mother had never really been supportive of her career as an artist,  and while it stuck with her,  lydia refused to back down from her passions,  she was only determined to prove to her mother just what she could do with art,  and she had.  she knew how important it was to extend that support she never received to other artists,  in order to ensure that they’d never give up.  ❝  no need to thank me,  mali.  i’m only telling you the truth,  really,  ❞  lydia answered her honestly,  though she said it with a smile,  she was happy to see how much mali appreciated the compliment.  ❝  it’s going to happen for you,  but i’m glad you feel that way.  ❞

Mali looked down at her feet a small blush taking over her cheeks. She wasn’t used to people supporting her career and even though she never let it get to her there were moments were her parents words would echo inside her mind, making her doubt herself and what she could accomplish. She was use dto ignoring it but outside support especially from someone like lydia meant a lot to her. “It does mean a lot to me that you take the time to come and see things and give me your opinion.” She told her honestly. “Thank you so much for all of this.”

she loved knowing other artists,  it was easier for lydia to connect with them,  as they often understood the way her mind worked,  and how she used art to deal with her emotions.  she’d always been supportive of every artist she’d ever met,  the one’s who were even more successful than her,  the artists who had about the same amount of success as she had,  and the people just starting out.  in her mind,  artists should have always been supportive of each other.  ❝  hey,  this piece is really amazing,  ❞  she stated,  gesturing to the particular art she was referring to.  ❝  your big break is coming,  i know it.  ❞

Mali blushed and grinned happy at the other. Lydia’s opinion was very important to her. She was a successful and extremely talented artist and whenever she complimented any of her pieces Mali felt like she could achieve anything with her art. “Thank you so much!” She exclaimed before turning back to her work. “I hope so, that would be lovely but for now knowing you think it’s good is more than enough for me.”

“I don’t know why you insist on doing this.” Mali said trying to keep stable as she lifted her friend and roommate from the waist in an attempt to make her taller. “I could put the star myself without an issue, or you could I don’t know get a chair instead of using me as a ladder.”

“Hm?” she hummed looking up from her book, letting out a chuckle as she saw the other, “Oh no, the pout.” Sam got up from where she had been draped, “Where is it?” talking about the itch on her back as she started to run her nails down Mali’s back, “Am I getting it?”

“Have I ever told you you are the best?” Mali sighed happily. “Because you are, you are basically a professional at this.” she said turning around to Sam. “What would I do without you? “ She stretched lazily and went back to her position on the couch. “If you want some new logo for your shop or something I’m very willing to help you out with it as payment.”
