TIMELINE | CONNECTIONS (to be added later)
In 1969, a boy was born, still with difficulty to open his eyes and only being able to cry into the chest of his own mother, who despite having just gone through the event of his birth, still found it easy to love and to calm him down until they both feel asleep, his father sitting down on the side of the bed watched them for a few minutes with tears in his eyes with an almost unbearable happiness filling his chest and threatening to express itself through the tears that would roll down his cheeks if he only allowed it. Carefully and with a little bit of fear, since he did not wish to wake his beautiful son, he took him into his arms before eventually putting him inside of the crib to rest. Riley’s life had barely started and his parents were now beginning a new chapter too, little did they know how much all of their lives would change.
In 1985, at only SIXTEEN YEARS OLD Riley makes a discovery that is about to shake his whole world. He had known about the existence of mutants, already old enough to understand even the most unpleasant of conversations between adults and fellow classmates, old enough to understand that the mutants were far from welcomed, even though he had never had any problems with any of them, in fact he knew that there had been mutants in his family, most of them already deceased, but his parents still made sure that once he was able to understand that he would know about everything, they would tell them all they knew without an ounce of prejudice on their speech. It also does not hurt to know that the father of his best friend, THE CROWE family that lived only a few houses away from his, is a mutant and a very kind one. He treats Riley as if he was part of the family, treats him to dinner and lets him stay at their home whenever he’s too sleepy to make his way down to his own house.
It hurts him, he feels all the oxygen leaving his lungs as LEVI tells him the news about his father’s death in between sobs, desperation comes in burst of rage and grief. Riley wishes he could take it all away from him, all that pain and as he hugs him he feels his own tears streaming down his face, the rage transfers to him just as quickly and he finally fully understands the fate that awaits every mutant in a world filled with evil humans. He also can’t help but realize his own feelings for his best friend, he knows that it is far from being the right time, but it is also impossible for him to hold back, he wants to let him know that he’s not alone and that he’ll always have someone that LOVES him.
However that LOVE could certainly have been their DOOM. It is as fast as it is painful, faster than a heated kiss and slower than a fleeting touch, DEATH wants to take him for herself, wants to cease all that he was and leave every living being that ever encountered him with a love that will have no way of reaching him ever again. DEATH wants to steal his FIRST KISS, but Riley has something inside him that prevents this tragedy from happening and for his own surprise and the surprise of others he turns out to be a MUTANT.
He graduates high school afterwards and even after the shock and pain of his near death experience his feelings did not change and so he decides to wait for Levi to finish his studies, always making sure that he is as happy as the situation allows him, always making sure that he goes to visit him at his home, even if they can’t do much more than just having a simple conversation now and ever after that brief period, Riley made sure to always go pick Levi up from high school in his problematic but well loved car that would always take them to the most wonderful of dates.
In 1990 he decides to move to New York, in order to pursue what he thinks will be most beneficial for him, MEDICAL SCHOOL, which also helped him with his research to finally be able to understand his own powers and how he could finally make it work for him and Levi. Finally, after much trial and error they were finally able to touch and have the life that they always dreamed of in their own little and pretty shitty apartment, following him into joining THE BROTHERHOOD and what he thinks is truly the best future for those like him. It has been SEVEN YEARS and the RESOLUTE kid is more alive than ever.
