YAY ^__^ thank u!!!
i try not to spoil things from my Comic Thats Definitely Gonna Happen One Day so im just gonna say that leigh tends to be on good terms with rather unlikely people and it kind of cracks me up. it's not like she's terribly charismatic or helpful but it's just that in some ways she kind of has the capybara nature. like oh okay it's just leigh

what are your thoughts on the Fiends.
WASTED POTENTIAL... i keep thinking about how they were going to be a Proper Faction with reputation and a way to possibly improve their living conditions and i get so mad. i do not like that they're Nameless Raiders you get lots of good karma for killing. i understand that a big part of their deal is that severe dependence on hard drugs and the desperation that causes can make you do really terrible things, and that such environments attract horrible people who enjoy being able to easily manipulate and exploit others in such a vulnerable position--i think those are interesting matters to explore. but as they are in the game its just like, whoa, look how fucked up and depraved these guys are, all of them, lets wipe them out. i don't like that at all. feels like only corporal betsy ever expresses feeling bad for any of them, and only fleetingly. theyre people on the margins of society, with no access to basic necessities and with nothing to their names except drugs and weapons; they're exploited by their leaders who keep them in these conditions, impoverished and addicted and hostile and with nowhere else to go. ncr's solution is to just snipe them, because of course it is. i wish anything changed for the fiends after their leaders have been taken out. fuck motor-runner, cook-cook et al, but i hate the idea of waging war against a bunch of desperate aimless sick people who were abandoned by the rest of the world to instead serve as some guy's personal army. in an ideal version of fallout new vegas there wouldve been a way to solve this problem without indiscriminately killing a bunch of people. like, god, what a waste.
and to look at this from a more in-universe pragmatic angle, fiend territory encompasses facilities such as railways, an honest to god steel foundry in close to perfect working condition (and with robots to maintain and partially operate it no less), warehouses, farms, substations, production plants, an entire vault. how wonderful would it be to restore them and make use of them? i can guarantee you that the ncr doesnt have the numbers or resources in the mojave to do so, nor would i want them to claim those facilities for themselves. so many people around the mojave, not just rehabilitated fiends, would benefit greatly from being given jobs that bring them actual tangible value and resources, create food, shelter, transport, technology and so on--all of which actually goes to them and improves their lives tremendously. there is no doubt in my mind that in the hands of mr house and/or the ncr such places would become exploitation centers, and that this is in large part behind ncr's efforts to quickly eliminate the fiends and retake the territory. again, what a waste. so much progress and productivity is being stifled by inequality, dreadful living conditions, and territorial conflicts given no solution beyond "yeah just shoot them all"
idk what else to do but drop some random leigh lore. she enjoys looking slutty and being desired and possibly even groped and such but outside of very rare occasions she kinda hates sex. like Right thats enough goodbye im not doing any of that thanks. queen of remorseless blueballing
i believe one of her issues is that in her heart of hearts shes always been a pillow princess bottom who would like to be tended to, but she keeps experiencing comptop and shes just not having it. another is that she is terribly neurotic and has huge intimacy issues and a lot of trauma-induced shame. yet another is that after her 9mm partial lobotomy she kind of lost the ability to actively express desire so it feels performative on her part and that in turn makes her feel really awkward and terrible. and yet another is that she has a rather low sex drive. i dont think she's asexual but perhaps "getting shot in the head made me asexual" would be a funny and interesting way to conceptualize it. sometimes she wishes some hot stranger would just unceremoniously fuck her without saying a single word to her before during or after and then preferably die immediately

do you think you'd have liked Ulysses more if he had been one of the main companions from the start as he intended? with no messy Lonesome Road backstory involving the Courier and such?
i ask because i recently read a lot of his dialogue from the July 21st prototype, before he was cut. i enjoy him much more here. comes off much more approachable, less preachy. anyways, what do you think?
https://tcrf.net/Proto:Fallout:_New_Vegas/July_21,_2010/Unused_Companion_Dialogue#Ulysses
I MOST CERTAINLY WOULD. ulysses as a character AND a companion who leans more legion, but has very complicated reasons for that and a very complicated troubled backstory, has a lot of potential to me, very much so. it's the Chris Avellone Self Insert Syndrome and Chris Avellone Plot Contrivances--and those get really, really bad with ulysses--that truly sour the whole deal for me. one of the main reasons ulysses upsets me so much is that there is a great character in there somewhere, but the worst post hoc plot decision imaginable got stapled to him and things just went downhill from there.
let me dig into this dialogue real quick and i'll give you my thoughts...
WHAT THE HELL. I LOVE THESE. this fucking rules. companion ulysses you are peak and i love you. and it seems he'd have been the first companion you recruit, too. this is crazy. i love that he still has this peculiar, almost whimsical way of speaking, very world-weary and very legion in the most interesting ways. strangely charming. ohhh my god, SO awesome. and his life doesnt revolve around courier 6! he doesn't say the same thing over and over! he's part of the world of the game!
im like, SEETHING that this isnt the ulysses we got. good god. he's so awesome. i see him in my mind and he is so awesome. ohhhh companion ulysses, leigh wouldve loved to have a very complicated relationship with you

Dead wife montage but it's all slow motion shots of your dead wife throwing grenades and doing backflips and oneshotting the enemy with their long range weapons
