Kind of shook that Ku Xing peak lord Shen Yuan isn’t bigger— ESPECIALLY if you want PIDW native Shen Yuan who still has a weird mental gymnastics complex about acting on his gay thoughts. Just make him a sexy monk who everyone wants to break his vows soooooooo bad. Give him a disciple Binghe that he can do accidental chastity play with, in order to teach him “discipline”. Give Liu Qingge a guilt complex for thirsting over an ascetic cultivator. Give Zhuzhi Lang a corruption fetish for thirsting after an ascetic cultivator. There’s such limitless potential here.

I kind of want to see how badly YQY and SQQ could fuck up their own reconciliation but still ultimately reconcile.

Currently my idea is that they have a drunken and/or hormones assisted tryst and SQQ gets pregnant.

YQY atticwifes him and forces him to keep the baby without actually explaining that you know, he actually loves SQQ and would never willingly abandon him so SQQ thinks the whole time that YQY only wants the baby not him.

The actual reconciliation comes after the traumatic birth because YQY was also not taking SQQ to prenatal appointments, so both SQQ and newly arrived SY try to die dramatically as is the Shen way.

But once they stop doing that and YQY actually explains his whole fucking deal SQQ is feeling much better - except that he hates the baby and can't look at or touch him without wanting to off himself.

YQY: Cool cool cool, there is definitely nothing anyone could have done to prevent this!

So SY gets a nanny and only really sees SQQ on special occasions and never for long, which is how he's like nine when he finally figures out his distant mom is The Scum Villain!!!

And YQY is doting but also distant because if he spends too much time with SY SQQ gets jealous.

So SY has all the material possession he could possibly want but is desperately lonely and thinks neither of his parents love him. He's worked out Something Happened around the time he was born and has determined all the lingering hurt feelings and trauma must all be his fault somehow.

And SQQ gets to feel like a failure and a bad mom and YQY gets to know he's a failure and that he could have spared his husband and son a lot of pain if he'd just opened his mouth earlier...

And yet when little baby SY asks him if SQQ hates him he's just like, "of course not honey" and pats his head.

YQY tells himself it's just because SY is too little but SY asks again and again as he gets older and YQY can't bring himself to explain...

"Will you at least tell me why you both hate me?" Shen Yuan asks him in their tent at the Immortal Alliance Conference. "I've asked him. He just glares at me."

"We don't hate you Yuan'er, we love you."

His son just sighs, "You don't have to keep lying to me, I'm not six anymore." And leaves.

The confrontation at the edge of the Abyss is extra messy and both YQY and SQQ are there. Really Luo Binghe turning out to be part demon is the least emotionally devastating thing that happens.

Both SQQ and YQY qi deviate when Luo Binghe wraps his arms around their son and pulls him into the Abyss with him.

Shen yuan who transmigrates and ends up as one of bingge's court musicians who make background music while he's having discussions with other demonic leaders. He ends up becoming their unofficial group leader and lectures them on following the mood of the "scene"— they think his approach is fun and interesting, so he gets to lead them with the melody. One day during another negotiation/hearing/review, something goes wrong, or an enemy ends up being unveiled, or one of the demon leaders goes against bingge's rules, and luo binghe is now standing in cold anger, his eyes and mark glowing, and the musicians are too scared to go on, but sy is so into watching luo binghe in his element that he just adds more tension to the music, perfectly accompanying bingge's sharp killing intent. This snaps lbh out of his immediate anger and draws his attention to the nearby musicians instead, kickstarting yet another binggeyuan fic

the real challenge abt watching naruto actually are not the fillers or the sexism or the weird fascist propaganda, it is having to sit thru 5454532 flashbacks of scenes that youve already seen before u can get to even any plotpoint

the sexism in naruto is actually so crazy and all encompassing. every female character is defined by her relationship to men. the majority are boy-crazy. and it’s constantly remarked upon how weak they are when compared to their male teammates.

not only that but the main male characters actively dislike the women they’ve been paired off with. shikamaru is into temari but his infinite dream is not having to marry her. sai ends up with ino despite finding her ugly. naruto thinks hinata is weird and boring. sasuke’s dislike of sakura is infamous.

adult men’s interest in women is seen as comical and alien. (reactions to the sexy jutsu, jiraiya harassing women). almost all of the adult men are perpetual bachelors or sex perverts (and those who aren’t are stand ins for “mom and dad”).

when boys actually do like girls, it’s to show goofy immaturity and innocence (naruto’s crush on sakura that he grows out of as he reaches maturity, lee’s crush which is dropped entirely, obitos crush on rin which lasts into adulthood just to show he isn’t entirely separate from the boy he once was)

the whole ninja society likes to imagine it is a mostly gender blind world where women can thrive but this is SO obviously untrue. women are almost always healers and support. women make up less than 1/3 of the ninjas even at genin level. girls are almost all desperate to become wives and earn the attention of boys who don’t even like them!

mikoto uchiha was a jonin and presumably directly descended from the uchiha line (based on characters commenting that she/sasuke look just like izuna uchiha), but we only ever see her retired and raising her sons while her husband gets to be clan leader. (why?? if he married into the main family and she is an extremely capable ninja??)

similarly kushina uzumaki is borderline royalty and a jinchuriki, but her husband is hokage. once again the mother carries on the burden of power (for her sons to inherit) but the father has the title and status.

even the backstory of ninja enforces this. kaguya literally ate the forbidden fruit, giving the gift of chakra to all of humanity but also dooming them to fight for eternity. literally womens original sin …

anyway it’s not that all this sexist shit is in the story. it’s that kishimoto seemingly has no idea it’s there and believes the women he writes have epic girl power. how do you even do this by accident. why does every boy hate their wife. why did kaguya commit the original sin ! the girl characters want so badly to be with a boy but they don’t even care that the boy doesn’t like them back!! sakura and hinata are in loveless marriages of obligation and THEY DONT EVEN CARE??? they’re into it??? does kishimoto think men are universally forced to marry women they don’t like? does he blame women for this?WHY IS THE ORIGINAL SIN DRIVING THE BUS ALL THE SUDDEN?

I find it fascinating (derogatory) how the general fandom conversation has shifted from "this woman is getting in the way of our gay ship and she's USELESS and ANNOYING and WE DON'T LIKE HER!" to this weird "no actually she's just not involved in her own relationships because she's too cool and special and awesome and a girlboss". But the problem is that there's not actually a veritable difference there. People still aren't engaging with her as a fully-fledged character. Like sure man calling her a girlboss is fine it's whatever but let that lead somewhere else. Engage with her. Can you actually name any of her character traits or are you just blindly praising her so that you can focus on shipping the guys in the background without feeling bad about it

Do they know about the Christmas truce? Because if they didn’t I could see some thinking that the ghosts leave phantom and amity alone because it’s when he died.
