y'know, I'm a 100% sure that the 'SA' scene was just the writers way to finally show the audience that no, Vox isn't a rapist. Yes, he has a rapist boyfriend, but HE himself is not one and would never rape Alastor. No MATTER HOW MANY PEOPLE WERE BANGING POTS AND PANS, AND YELLING FROM THE ROOF TOPS THAT VOX WOULD RAPE ALASTOR IN SEASON 2, I think this was the writers best way they could agree and deliver at the time to reveal that Vox would not in fact, do rape Alastor.
He wouldn't use his powers, a deal, or his hypnosis (depending if he can actually use it on Alastor or not), but I don't think he would hypnotise Al for sex anyways.
When I watched that scene, knowing how everyone in the fandom viewed Vox as an evil sex crazed rapist before season 2, I hummed and nodded that yes, this would be the most sensible way to prove that even though Vox is insane and obsessed with Alastor, he would not rape him. Even when Al made himself into Vox's prisoner and made no stipulations on keeping his hands to himself or anything, Vox made no such moves.
Of course there was a crazy sexual tension throughout Don't You Forget Reprise that the two shared where even Valentino and in turn, the writers wrote in and pointed out, but Vox wasn't gonna go further even if Val wasn't there. I know lots of people think Vox would jump Alastor if Val wasn't around, which makes no sense since Val is the porn rapist overlord and would actively encourage such a scene even if Vox was slightly embarrassed when he forgot Val was there, but I fully stand by the belief that he would not assault Alastor after the song or ever. And he proved me right.
Because y'know, he didn't. Could have- easily. But didn't.
And yes, Vox violated Alastor's eyeballs, which was perhaps the only thing anti-radio static fans could latch onto and what probably wasn't exactly what the Vivziepop crew wanted you to take away from that scene, but go off I guess. Vox did put Al in the cuck chair (which I love dark humour and I do think that's funny), but to be the devil (Vox's) advocate, I believe everyone in Hell has seen people have sex out in public multiple times a day and it is very common place there. For example, Charlie seeing people going at it in the first song and being flashed by that ugly guy near the end of Happy Day in Hell. But nobody ever talks about that.
Lastly, to be the most devil advocate ever, I have been a yaoi connoisseur for like- 18 years and I can say, the 'SA' scene is probably the tamest toxic yaoi I've ever seen in my life. Like that is baby food when it comes to yaoi cuisine. Most yaoi or gay ships start with questionably consensual sex and hell, some of the even most 'fluffiest' canonical yaoi ships actually just start with straight up rape. Or they push one of them in a corner and forcefully make out with them. Half of the bottoms get groped past day one or steal their used underwear and masturbate into them. Or get blackmailed or tricked or lied to, etc, etc.
Like, old school yaoi in a modern setting either office or Highschool was all pretty problematic and if you are not into this and Hazbin is your first experience with anything lqbtq than I suggest maybe read any yaoi doujinshi ever that's more than five years old or so and see how some of us aren't really bothered by this fictional cartoon 'SA' scene which has far more layers than what I'm going into here. Like of course sexual assault is bad, but to constantly nitpick radiostatic over and over when most yaoi doujinshi or gay stories have pretty rough and forceful scenes just makes me scoff cause I love voxal's complexities, but that scene is as impactful as dust bunnies to me. Especially for a show- based in HELL.
And saying such a scene would stop Viv from making Radiostatic a canonical couple in whack considering every gay piece of media that comes before it.
Also I'm not saying gay media is always rapey and full of sexual assault, just questionable consensual stuff happened in especially doujinshis all the time back in the day. And y'know- still happening today to, but I think the authors are more aware of it with how society has evolved with their views of sexual assault and rape.
You can of course find, non-force full and dark yaoi, but I'm saying Radiostatic is baby in comparison to how far yaoi authors and artists go with their stuff. In fact- forget just gay things. Like comparatively to most romance stories, even hetero, considering the setting and the characters- this is BEYOND tame. Respectfully.
