I thought Bill was the Eye of Providence though
I’m very curious about this, because we’ve got evidence in the show that Bill, a being Ford says is “older than our galaxy”, has been “inspiring minds” with his Muse act since ancient Greece:
coupling this with canon fact that Bill can see through all images of himself, it follows that all images of the Eye of Providence we see in the show were, one way or another, inspired by Bill. after all, Bill convinced Ford to plant Eyes all over Ford’s own little shack—just like he did with so many other genius minds he influenced. As of the special edition Journal, the Egyptian pyramids and the Eye on the $1 bill are, canonically-in-this-universe, purposeful depictions of Bill. and there are plenty of local examples of this phenomenon as well. Doesn’t the line go “look throughout history / how could you miss me?”
Alex’s claim suggests that there are Eyes of Providence in the GF universe that aren’t depictions of Bill unless it’s got a hat—I suppose they’d just be symbolic of the concept of divine intervention, like in the real world. but not all the depictions of Bill in the show that we know are meant to be Bill (like most of the stuff leftover from Ford’s cult days) have the hat. that damn window is the best example:
no hat. no tie, no cane, no eyelashes, no Mr. Peanut noodle arms and legs, no brick pattern. but we know this is meant to be Bill from all the backstory of Ford, Bill, and all the Eyes around the Shack—just as, I think it’s safe to say from other information provided by the canon, that ever other image of a triangle with an eye, hat or not, is Bill.
perhaps he means that it’s just the paranoia of the characters that suggests that each Eye of Providence is actually Bill—but then, Bill can still see through each Eye, and so many of them are meant to be Bill. if he means this in regards to references in other shows, that seems…strange to say in this case, considering how many other GF references there have been in this season of Rick & Morty alone. so what’s up?

it’s got eyelashes!!! no regular depiction of the Eye has those signature lashes. Mr Hirsch what are you trying to hide
