Some of you have never been parents who had to pay for pre-school and it shows. This will be an incredible boon to parents with young children.

And if you want to know about Biden’s student loan forgiveness plans (as of April 21 2021) here you go. There’s a lot of wheels in motion and this stuff takes time.

Preschool education is a major factor in whether or not children can GET higher education

Delaying literacy can plague a person throughout their life and put them critically behind on learning necessary skills, which means they’re less likely to complete high school or even ATTEMPT college

This is why Head Start is such a massive fucking deal for poor families - getting their children into early education is a PRIMARY determining factor for that child’s success, especially when that child is already disadvantaged by something like poverty, racism, or disability.

Free preschool is needed so free college can become realistic and some of y'all need to get your heads out of your asses.

preschool is as expensive as state college in my town. I flat out didn’t send my kid because I was home and couldn’t justify the expense. He’s got enough scaffolding at home for it to have been a moot point by grade 1, but kindergarten was rough. Biden is working on fixing 40+ years of malignant neglect of fundamental educational and infrastructure development. It takes time.

It would be great if eventually all public universities were free. We need not only free community college, but free nursing programs, free education masters programs, free MD programs, because we are suffering a lot of shortfalls and can’t expand as many things as need expanding without more of those professionals. I suspect we’ll get there. The thing is that investments in education are just that… investments, that pay long-term dividends in expanded tax base, decreased social problems, etc. Money spent on college will, over the long term directly reduce the money needed for jails, and decrease medical expenditures, especially around maternity care and poverty-related issues.
