VTM like all of WoD has huge racism problems but one thing they nail is the lack of perception of bias amongst white vampires towards vampires of color you read accounts from various white vampires in europe, amerika, etc. and they all say "yeah racism has pretty much stopped existing in kindred society" and then you read about shit like the European Ventrue claiming that the mostly-Muslim Ventrue of western Arabia don't have an actually separate bloodline, or European Toreador and Ventrue complaining that African vampires don't trust them anymore, or the millennia-long attempt to drive back the Ashirra, or literally ANY of the reactions of white vampires to the Hungry Dead (mandatory acknowledgement that KotE is insanely racist, although I will say that The Relentless Age, a fan rewrite of the original splat, does them "better")

it's just endless repetitions of white vampires "we're not racist :)" vampires of color "holy FUCK white vampires are SO fucking racist"

If you’re a fan of White Wolf’s and Onyx Path’s work on the World of Darkness and Chronicles of Darkness then you’ll like this new take on the concept.

If you haven’t heard of WoD or CofD but like horror TTRPGs then you’ll also really like this game.

Curseborne is an urban horror game set in modern day where curses haunt every corner of the world. Crossing a bridge without paying tribute to the spirit of the lake results in you nearly drowning that night. Not knocking on the wooden frame to the door to the library results in a nasty infestation of silverfish in your bag as you leave. These are minor curses one could avoid through proper ritual although plenty of people know best to avoid such situations. Going into the abandoned home of a serial killer obviously will bring bad mojo, so would handling the gun of a damned priest. Best way not to get cursed is to avoid it all entirely.

But keep in mind, not every curse is some minor inconvenience or annoyance. Not every tragedy is caused by the web of curses that enravel everything. Your wife dying in a car crash could just be sheer coincidence as much as it could’ve been a curse, but if her death was the result of a curse, consider her lucky. There are curses out there that do far worse than kill you, curses that fundamentally change your very existence. If you are a victim of one of these greater curses then you have been warped into a supernatural creature: an Accursed.

You could be a ghost, trapped to possess their corpse like a zombie. A hungry vampire, craving the emotions of the living along with their blood and flesh. An outcast from another realm, made to take the guise of a human to hide your angelic or demonic features. A shapeshifter, turning into a bestial creature guided by their primal instincts. A sorcerer who finds and manipulates the very magic found where curses dwell to an obsessive degree. Whatever it is you are, you are cursed and now belong to a family of similarly damned people, who in turn belong to lineage of the same curse.

While you may be damned, you can pull the curses around you and weave them into magic spells to use in this dark world. Monster hunters stalk you for answers, doorways to other dimensions litter wherever you step and monsters greater and crueler than you will find and destroy you. And this is conjunction with the insanity of the normal world as well. Corrupt cops, violent riots, gang warfare and the dangerous of being a human still pose threats to the accursed. Best to stick alongside your family or even other accursed as you navigate this curse infested world.

Developed by Onyx Path Publishing, the same studio that wrote most of the World of Darkness 20th Anniversary Editions and Chronicles of Darkness titles, utilizing their new StoryPath Ultra system that any fan of those other titles will quickly understand.

It seems like all of the resources I can easily find online for identifying wolves vs dogs are either massive and difficult to understand without prior knowledge of the subject, or extremely bare-bones and miss a lot of key information. I tried to hit a comfortable middle-ground. (sorry if it’s a little wordy) This tutorial is made as a reference for drawing, so everything but purely visual differences between dogs and wolves have been left out. I’ve been wanting to make this for a while now, so I’m glad I finally sat down and did it! **EDIT** When it comes to the section on wolfdogs, please take it with a grain of salt. With something as complicated as genetics, they are of course, not going to be as simple as I make it seem. What features different levels of content can display, and even which percentages designate which levels of content are often hotly debated within the wolfdog community. At this point I’ve elected not to change the image set itself because: a. it’s a huge pain in the ass b. this is a tutorial for beginning artists. It’s meant to be a hugely simplified version of the topic, and I’ve stated clearly that it is NOT to be used in real-world identification. After playing a lot of Demon the Fallen recently I think it's really interesting how much better this system is at the whole "personal horror" aspect than Vampire is. So many of the most controversial changes to Vampire have been made ostensibly in the name of preserving the "personal horror" aspect which, in case anyone isn't aware, is the aspect that's meant to make you go "oh no I really shouldn't have drained that person in my hunger frenzy, I'm such a monster fr." I actually think this has never really been done that well in Vampire the Masquerade because it always feels to me like the game does this by either taking control away from you to make you do bad things through stuff like Frenzy rolls and Messy Criticals, or giving you chores to do that cause you to lose Humanity if you don't do them, like with protecting your Touchstones. So losing Humanity is usually due to a mechanical loss of personal control rather than a temptation to give into the monster within and feel guilty about it later. Demon, on the other hand, is set up through it's mechanics to actually tempt you into being more monstrous. Because staying low-Torment has real gameplay benefits like being able to resist True Faith and holy symbols better, appearing as an angel instead of a demon to people who see you're apocalyptic form, and being able to walk into a church without bursting into flames. But the raw combat power and destructive potential you get from taking on Torment is so tempting sometimes. In just a few sessions of Demon, I have desperately wanted my character, Ishtar, to whip out her claws or grow some extra limbs to help out with a gameplay challenge pretty much every time I sat down to play, just like I've been tempted to emotionally manipulate someone useful into becoming a Thrall just because I could really use their help and it'd be so nice if they couldn't say no. I think it also helps that Demon has a satisfying power fantasy on both ends of the spectrum. If you do well and avoid Torment you get to be an angel, which is cool, but if you give into Torment you get to be a badass powerful Demon and at least get to tear shit up. Whereas your reward for being a good little vampire and never losing Humanity is that you get to be... just kind of a nice vampire, while missing out on some of the things you might conceivably want to do when you sit down to play a vampire game, like drain some loser dry, or turn someone into a vampire.
