“Things change. Summer ends.”
Dipper and Mabel vs. The Future (12.10.2015 - 12.10.2016)
don’t get me wrong; I love the musical wicked. but like…. why are they so upset she is green…you have an entire city that’s green….shouldn’t she be like your queen or something?? i mean… the emerald city..a green chick…it doesn’t sound like something you should get angry about…tbh I’d be more freaked out about someone floating down from the sky in a bubble but that’s just me
Well this is horrifying.
Dreams.
“Shooting Star…I’m coming for ya” Mabel woke with a cry, kicking her blankets off as she whimpered and curled up tightly, her heart thumping loudly in her ears. “Just a dream, just a dream” she chanted as hair clung to her forehead. Trying to forget the familiar laugh echoing in her ears. It couldn’t happen..They defeated him, he couldn’t come back..right? With a sigh, the girl slipped out from her covers and padded across the attic, deciding to get a drink to calm her nerves. Snatching her brothers beaten up torch, she flicked it on and descended downstairs. Trying to be quiet as possible.
The unicorns seemed displeased with the notion of sharing their glorious hair. Although beautiful and majestic, they were selfish creatures, and did not take kindly to her not willingly giving it up. At that, they stomped their hooves and made clear they were going to charge, their horns low to get the children and claim what was rightfully theirs. But Dipper had other plans. No time to explain his plan, he grabbed Mabel and yanked her towards the tree. She always had that grappling hook handy, and now was the perfect time to put it to good use. He pointed to a relatively low branch, “aim there! We’ll scale the wall and make a break for it!”
Mabel tensed when the unicorns whinnied loudly, digging up dirt in preparation for their charge. “Wha-” Her brothers hand came into view and tugged her towards the wall. Listening to Dipper, Mabel nodded and focused, aiming at the branch he pointed too and tucked an arm around his waist. The gadgets hook wrapped around the branch with a hiss of air, pulling the children up just as the horses charged the wall. Mabel grunted as she fell to her side, her knee was stinging and upon closer inspection started to swell blood from the fall. Glancing to the side, she nodded to her brother and smiled tiredly. “Ha..Ha ah Dipper we did it!” Mabel beamed and hugged him tightly, a mix of adrenaline and excitement wracking her body from the encounter.

“Good! Now let’s get out of here before-” her sudden rush to leave was concerning and he immediately held out an arm protectively. His eyes fell upon the shadows staring menacingly from the darkness and found Mabel’s hand, gripping it tightly. “Run, Mabel, go!” Before they could reach the door, it seemed to magically slam shut in front of them as a voice pierced through the darkness- “what do you think you’re doing with that?? Unicorn hair is sacred and not to be taken without our permission, oh unpure of heart!”
The girl took her brothers hand quickly, running up and pocketing the lock of hair in her sweater pocket. Just as they got to the entrance, the door slammed shut in front of them. Trembling, Mabel turned back and chewed her lip. Focusing on the shadows coming closer. “Were sorry for waking you! Unicorns, but..we have to go” She shouted quickly, tensing and grabbing her brothers vest tightly when they didn’t stop. “Dipper…what do we do?” Mabel whispered, glancing to him.
“I-I don’t know-” Dipper responded frantically, flipping through the journals until he came upon the page detailing the unicorns. Their uncle’s entry was unhelpful as it only seemed to hold resentment against them and didn’t provide anything to give them a weakness. He held his arm out in front of Mabel, shielding her from the advancing and quite irate unicorns- peering left and right he noticed a tree standing pretty close to the edge of the wall- if they could climb up it and hop over they’d just have to outrun the unicorns or lose them- “Give me back my hair you- you heathens!” cried one of the unicorns, stopping a few feet away and pounding her hooves into the soil. “You can’t just waltz in here and take what isn’t yours! That’s such a human thing to do!”
Mabel tensed as they stormed closer, holding onto her brothers arm tightly, she trembled a little from Unicorns anger rolling off in waves. “S-Sorry but we really need it” She stammered, worrying her lip as she tried to explain. “I-It’ll grow back, it’s hair! hey, you should learn to share!” Mabel snapped, furrowing her brows as one stood right in front of them. Glancing to her brother anxiously, she noticed him looking towards the entrance with furrowed brows. “What are you thinking?” Mabel whispered, knowing a plan was forming in his head.

He had, for a moment, considered turning back to get their great uncle, but realized the trek back could easily get them lost. And, of course, he wouldn’t exactly welcome them after they had gone against his word to even go after the unicorns in the first place. Besides, they had spent half the night getting here, he didn’t want to leave! Following his sister, although remaining much more cautious, he peered around. The placed looked ideal- bright green grass, a flowing stream, healthy looking trees- nothing too out of the ordinary. Except, of course, the unicorn which lay there beside the stream, obviously asleep. It’s hair was nearly every color of the rainbow and possibly more, Dipper found himself squinting at how shiny it was. Regardless, he smiled and lightly punched Mabel’s arm, they had found an honest to god unicorn and were standing a mere ten feet away!
Mabel glanced over to her brother and nodded, smiling excitedly. She knew they could do it! Chewing her lip for a moment, she walked over and took a breath, looking up at her brother. “Okay..d’you have any scissors? or that pen knife Grunkle Stan gave you?” she whispered, focusing on the hair glittering in the moonlight. Mabel wasn’t quite sure what to do, do they disturb the creature to ask to cut a lock of hair or do they get it over and done with, Grunkle Ford did say that they were frustrating and they had been out for half the night.”Plan B” Mabel offered, kneeling down and lifted a lock of hair gently up.
Dipper watched his sister with baited breath, wary now that the unicorn would spring awake; although he was unsure what a unicorn would do- if they were anything like the fairy tales his sister read they could probably give their hair out freely. According to story they were kind, gentle creatures- but the way Ford had spoken it was almost the opposite. Unsure of what to believe he gave Mabel a firm nod, glancing over his shoulder to make sure the coast was clear and they had an escape route. The whispering caused the unicorn to stir. It mumbled in its sleep and turned its head slightly out of reach, the rainbow hair falling from Mabel’s grasp, before curling up again, seemingly unchanged.
The movement made the girl squeak, tensing up as the hair slipped from her hand. 'Breathe breathe' Mabel thought, leaning down to gather another piece and slowly snipped off a hand full.
"Dipper we did it" she hissed, a bright smile appearing on her face. "We did it we-" the girl froze, focusing on the two shadows staring at them from the corner. She slowly stood and clutched the hair tightly in her fist, wanting to get out as quickly as possible.
Prompt translation: “Ford and Mabel hugging” :D
A comic with Ford and Mabel hugging is much better :D I loved drawing this. THOSE GUYS ARE SO FLOOFY!!!
Can we just talk about how many times Mabel was right in the show
She was right about how to defeat the gnomes
She was right about Dipper calming down and talking to Wendy like a normal person
She was right about how to solve the case of the 8 ½ President
She was right about needing to have a Summerween spirit
She was right about her Grappling Hook saving the day in Gideon Rises
She was right that Dipper shouldn’t have been obsessed with the journal during Scaryoke
She was right about giving Pacifica a chance
She was right about Blendin not actually being a bad guy
She was right about trusting Stan in NWHS
She was right about being able to get the Unicorn hair
She was right about the way to get Stan’s memory back

Belle nodded in agreement. “Yeah..they prefer to be left on their own n junk huh?” she offered with a knowing smile, pushing away from the table and stood still. Hearing her offer the girl squealed happily and nodded. “Makeovers would be awesome! that’d be weird starting a braid train with the same person” Belle chuckled, tucking some hair behind her ear and followed the girl eagerly upstairs. “D’you reckon we would freak people out? cause we look exactly alike” Belle asked, jumping onto her bed and shifted to the edge of the wall.
“Yep. Those nerds are always staying down there.” Mae shook her head, hopping to her feet too.
“Oh my gosh, we’d totally freak people out. Think of all the cool pranks we could do! We could pretend we learned to teleport! Or make people wonder how we managed to change clothes so fast! Speaking of, I think we should prooobably change,” Mae pointed to their identical sweaters. “I think Dipper would probably get stressed if we walked around wearing the same clothes.”
She glanced down at her sweater and let out a hum of approval. “You’ve got a point there Mae, lets have a look” Belle replied, jumping down and running over to her closet, humming as sweaters went flying behind her. “Aha! perfect” she said brightly, bringing out an mint coloured ice cream sweater. “Tadah!” Belle grinned, spinning on the spot in her fresh sweater and went over to her clone. “Okay..what adventure time?” she asked, smiling brightly.

Mabel was at least 50% sure it wasn’t her fault.
Really, she’d only come down to the basement on Stan’s orders to pry Dipper and Ford up for food. She knew Ford didn’t want her down there (and part of her was secretly jealous that Dipper was allowed and she wasn’t), but it was for a good cause. Dipper was bad at eating regularly anyway, and as his older sister by five minutes, Mabel felt at least somewhat responsible for his wellbeing. Siblings were good at nagging.
It wasn’t her fault that Ford had been testing a wildly unstable cloning machine at that moment. It definitely wasn’t her fault that he’d decided not to shield the door area.
So, really, it wasn’t her fault that she was now sitting at the dining room table across from herself. The initial surprise had faded, and Ford had just taken a plate of food and gone downstairs to try to figure out some sort of solution, but really Mabel didn’t mind having another her around. It’d make hair braiding parties way easier.
“We need different names,” she decided. “How about I be Mae, and you be Belle?”
The girl hummed softly, patting her thumb against her chin for a moment. “Sounds good to me, so what’s the plan Mae, we need to figure out how this happened right?” Belle asked, tilting her head to the side curiously and twitched her nose in thought. “And also have fun” she offered, smiling brightly.
“Fun is definitely on the agenda,” Mae agreed, matching Belle’s smile with an identical one. “Plans, hmmmmmmmm.” She drew out the M extra long, mimicking Belle’s tapping gesture against her chin. “Well Grunkle Ford’s trying to figure it out, but he seemed extra confused. What did he say? Something like, it wasn’t supposed to make an exact copy? I think he’ll get mad if we try to go downstairs again though.”
She thought for another moment, and then shrugged. “I vote we leave it up to the nerds and focus entirely on fun. How often do I get to have a double of me around? Not often enough!” She giggled. “We could do makeovers!”
Belle nodded in agreement. “Yeah..they prefer to be left on their own n junk huh?” she offered with a knowing smile, pushing away from the table and stood still.
