i have never been able to distinguish between the marauders era characters outside of... the ones actually named on the marauders' map, snape, and lily.

the entirety of the 'slytherin skittles', rosier, crouch jr, those guys- hell, even the girls from that era, pandora, mary, marlene, etc. every single work ive seen, it feels like it's always the exact same alt white person in outfits that are barely even tweaked. and its always pinterest-worthy, completely non-magical outfits, too... if im not informed in the tags i have no clue im supposed to be looking at and why i should care 😭

The marauders fandom needs to pay more attention to wlw ships and not just focus on the gay ones, also I think there is a lot of forced diversity and people just headcanoning things for the sake of making them that way and not actually exploring it

jegulus really sucks, especially when they make regulus a feminine bottom and james some dominant saint (ot especially pmo when they head Canon him as trans and do this, i know transboys can be feminine and there nothing wrong with that, but from what I've seen most dont and I kinda find it disrespectful to do that)

Jegulus seems very 2d to me, no matter how much people love or head canon it, it reminds me very much about solangelo (not the fanon version, because most people write it very well in fanon)

I also hate jegulus because regulus canonically was a death eater, and based off what I know about death eaters believers and how 70s Britain was like there was no way they'd be gay, because of the amount of homophobia

Also in jegulus most people make regulus and james 2d, making regulus some grumpy soft being forced into being a death eaters boy, or james into some saint, I feel like jegulus would be so so so much better if people made them more than just sun and moon and actually gave james flaws and didnt just give regulus all the flaws

I hate how the forced diversity is so careless and performative in this fandom. no research at all. let's make everyone queer and gnc in a way that fits the present day, but wood look insane in the 70s. no, srius black would wear a fishnet blouse, crop top or a mini skirt, while being super liked and popular among all his peers. all the woman fancaster as non white would also face some racism (its the 70s but England even today is racist as fuck) that might have been intreasting in narrative but noone cares about that. only slaying colourful diversity badges to give a finger to jkr while practical doing same thing she did.

I feel like a lot of the marauders era fans are just too hesitant to make ocs because they're 'cringe' apparently and so they cut and paste the same baffling characterisations that make zero sense with what we know in canon, and then proclaim that these make sense and are definitely coherent

They may as well all be ocs! It's not that difficult at all to come up with a name!

I hate when in ff remus gets the wrecked home life and the abusive parents while the writer forgets this is actually what happened to syrius. remus didn't even grow up super poor like u all think after reading all the young dudes! maybe you only kin him cause you want to look good in sweters, but if you need to take away characteristics of other characters to make him intreasting, maybe he is not for you. remus stans always simplify sirius to death. heaven been thru all that, not remus.

I feel like you can’t say “I dislike *insert ship here*” in this fandom anymore. If it’s not a popular ship, everyone will be calling you a basic *insert popular ship* shipper, or that you just hate all rare pairs and then if you hate a popular ship everyone’s going to be after you like… can we just say we don’t like something??? obviously this doesn’t apply if you’re like shit talking the ship or sending death threats or anything, but getting mad over someone saying that don’t like a ship is crazy

the casting of a black man as severus snape in the new hbo show is literally mortifying. this is going to be such a setback for poc representation in media. he is literally one of the only characters in the series where a race swap not only doesn’t make sense but also damages the story and its characters. harry’s whole arc with snape in the first book is “hmm that guy looks suspicious and evil i think we should investigate” huh?? are they gonna change that storyline so harry doesn’t come across as fucking racist??

you’re meaning to tell me that we have to watch james potter bully a black student? even if they don’t make it racially motivated, the subtext at hand is still fucking nasty. snapes whole point is that he’s a “nice guy” who befriended Lily to get with her and then turned to facism after he got rejected. they’re gonna make a black man call her a slur? they’re gonna make a black man abuse his dead best friends son because he couldnt get with her? shame on everyone who was involved in this decision, you just know they know what they did.
