hey! I'm angelette from ao3, and I just wanted to drop by and ask how did you like the new SM2 trailer??? (spoilers below if you haven't checked it out, but I'm sure you already watched it!)
not gonna lie, I'm a bit disappointed we didn't get a release date, but omg! Symbiote!Peter and Miles's reaction to it were everything I wanted from the trailer! The part where Miles sees the tentacled form of Peter first is just ooooh.... giving me good vibes for the rest of their story. I hope it'll be an emotional rollercoaster! I know people theorize a Miles vs. Peter boss fight, and I am so here for it! (and the tagline??? I'm absolutely in love with the little symbiote tentacles going there on the word 'together' and Miles's venom strike clearing that away!)
Anyway, gameplay-wise I'm so glad we get to play both Spider-Men and with a shared skill tree! Though I don't know how I will ever choose between the two. 😭 Also the symbiote moves looked so brutal!

I totally get what you mean by the lack of release date but I'm betting its gonna drop in September considering lots of games are dropping in October, AND it would be perfect if its in Sep because it would be 5 years on the dot (Sep 2018 was when they released the first game so-won't be surprised if they do)
AND AHHHHH YESSS!! Symbiote Pete with his aggression and his meanness. I'm so obsessed over how Miles doesn't trigger that aggression??? Like Peter's dismissive and kinda rude sure, but he's not cruel or outright malicious, not with everyone else he meets. He still entertained Miles' request of their 'Alley-oop' which was just amazing btw (kinda makes me wonder if Miles ever taught Pete how to play basketball and ever talked strategies 💀💀💀) (which I just realised would be SUCH a cute fic idea)
AND AHHH the reveal of Symbiote Peter to Miles~ i totally get what you mean about those vibes😭😭😭. The tension. Miles not even sensing Peter. Miles being in awe of the suit but knowing there's something off about it. Just the possibility of the friction between these two, of Miles being the one who's there to support Peter instead of the other way round—😭😭
(and the parallels between Peter and Octavius, against Miles and Peter??? The mentor-mentee, hero worship dynamic. Peter didnt manage to bring Octavius from the other side, he was too far gone. But now I'm wondering what Miles will do to bring Peter from the edge, if Miles will have a big hand in doing what Peter didn't manage to do: Save the man he admires the most.)
There definitely has to be a Peter Vs Miles fight (which is freaking terrifying if we have to play as Miles, and so heartbreaking if we have to play as Peter). The drama, the ANGST that can arise from it tho-😭
And YES that tagline, I noticed it immediately. That is visual storytelling as its finest. They basically told us the plot and the dynamic that we're getting from the game. Miles fighting off Peter's (literal) demons, basically saying NO—get your own superhero partner, he's already mine.
And yess the gameplay. The fact the map is expanded to include Queens (and fingers crossed Brooklyn too) makes me super pumped for all the traversal possibilities and combos. And the SPIDER-GADGETS!!!! God they look like so much fun! I hope we can just randomly switch between the two, like in gta v, rather than being forced to switch for the scripted story parts. I also want more Peter and Miles missions together!! It doesn't even have to be the main storylines, it'd be so awesome to see BOTH of them just doing wacky friendly neighbourhood spidermen stuff. (idk if that'd be possible when Peter's too busy being Bully Maguire) plus just Miles and Peter being the best duo outside of their suits.
Peter with the Symbiote is a war criminal💀💀💀 most of his moves are literally lethal LMAOO. But we love that. We'd love to see a little unhinged Peter, cuz that's always great for drama and angst and fic potential 😩.
