I also love art history, historical facts in general, collecting antiques and vintage electronics. Basically anything that peeks my interest that's "old" I'll usually look into it in some capacity.

I used to collect vintage video games and consoles as well but unfortunately due to The Economy™ I had to sell most of it but I held onto two main things: my SNES and my copy of Earthbound. If I ever consider selling those, it's not me LMAO

I'm also a musician, I've been singing for years and played trumpet in high school and play bass and ukulele in my spare time. I have a band project I've been trying to get off the ground for YEARS but have had no such luck.

Blue Velvet (1986)

wanted to use clips in somewhat order but also not spoil it because I HIGHLY encourage you to watch this masterpiece on your own. if you're unfamiliar with Lynch's' work though, just be prepared to feel uncomfortable for a lot of it. this is not an easy watch, but it is a worthwhile one. I can't believe I took so long to actually watch this as I've been a fan of his work since I discovered Twin Peaks in 2016

This Movie Doesn't Get Enough Love

Jack and The Cuckoo Clock Heart (Jack et la mécanique du cœur) [2013]

This French animated musical fantasy is one of the most surreal fantasy movies I have seen in years and it just so happens to fit a lot of my Victorian era gothic aesthetics and style that I already had a soft spot for. I will not spoil the movie for you but will provide a very fun fact that I've never seen with the background of other film productions:

The creator, Mathias Malzieu, created this movie 6 years after he wrote a book AND a concept album made of the same story that he created simultaneously and released within a month apart (October for the book and November for the album), and is a deep dive into a man with great insecurities and a deep yearning for love.

The musical aspect of the movie comes from the fact he uses bits and pieces of his album of the same name (The Boy With The Cuckoo Clock Heart) as the soundtrack and the character Jack sings out a lot of the tracks in universe.

To note as well if you're like me and want to ingest all the source material, be prepared for the material and endings of the book and movie to be VERY different, the movie in particular making me cry my eyes out and the book leaving my heart ripped out and stomped on. But I cannot recommend both, and the album as casual listening material, as well as anything else out of Mathias' bands discography, Dionysos, to be a must listen. His stylizing of hard rock, hip hop, and with what's specifically unique to the concept album for this story, some soft art rock and unique blend of acoustic and electronic instruments from the ukulele, "guitar scratches", to the mellotron and electric keys.

Please give this movie the love and praise it so greatly deserves.
