So, I was listening to this song the other day, and I couldnt get this scene of old man Spock meeting AOS Jim for the first time out of my head, the lyrics really made me think of it 😩😩😩

me and my friends came up with this ridiculously chaotic AOS AU, and it got me thinking of Stonn in the AOS universe. I wanted to draw him, so I asked them for an actor that had good jock himbo vibes to base myself off, and I got recommended Manny Jacinto and lemme tell ya............ my mind expanded......... truly galaxy brain

Okay, but like... WHY is this man such an excellent Vulcan though?

I've only recently gotten back into Star Trek (haven't touched Discovery or brave new worlds yet, no one @ me I KNOW I'm a failure of a Trekkie, my last few years have been nothing but D&D in my soul ✊😂) but I swear we NEVER see enough content on, like... Vulcans other than Spock, his father, and T'Pol (my bby girl, mwah).

But, more genuinely, I think there is so many fascinating things that could be explored with Vulcan culture. Like, on a trope level, I adore how they're aligned pretty closely with elves as far as clothing styles and some mannerisms are concerned. Which makes selecting Jacinto as Stonn even more lovely - in my opinion - because it gives a good nod to the Asian influences I've seen in a lot of more modern interpretations of elves (and, from Star Trek itself, Vulcan culture - but if I got too far into that right now that be a whole doctoral thesis at this point).

I utterly adore the translation of the actor as a reference into this piece - it really is just SUPER great

The whole "Jim is Amanda's favorite and Bones is Sarek's favorite" thing is so funny to me because its real but also Bones is the one asking Amanda for cute and embarrassing stories from Spock's childhood and Jim is the one prompting Sarek to vulcan-appropriate brag about his son's academic and carrier achievements
