"Why wouldn’t he want his father there?" She muttered, her eyes blinking up at him. "Koga is a good boy, i’m sure he would love to spend any sort of holidays with you Masaru."

"Little awkward. Bein' around the father that was never around during a family holiday. Plus ....his mother rather enjoyed the holidays." He had gone through many holidays on his own. It had a heavy effect over him and he assumed his son would end up barraged with feelings he might not want.

"On occasion. There are times it bothers me. But I recognize it all the same an’ I do what I can."

"I don't have any qualms about it. Not a fan of shopping and emptyin' my pockets. Not ta mention all the squabbles."

"What was Ma like?"

Masaru froze at the question before turning away from his son, a noticeable slump in his stance. The question was a painful one even now. Thinking back to her, it was so easy. It felt like yesterday when he lost her. Her image was still very fresh in his mind, her voice still real. What was worse was that Koga had never been able to know her. He hadn't the chance to know either of his parents for that matter and Masaru still let the guilt weigh him down. 

He turned back to face his son, his bright cerulean hues tinged with sadness, the emotion only showing more when he offered a weak smile. 

"She was a hell of a she wolf. She seemed quiet when ya first met her. But she was strong. Protective as hell. Especially where you were concerned. She always put you n' the tribe first. Helped me when things got chaotic. Everyone loved yer mother. They knew when ta fear her too." He smiled thinking back to the times when she snapped at the men for mouthing off or talking down about their son. 

"She died to protect ya and the tribe. She was a real warrior. Never knew how much I needed her till....." 

His words dropped and he sighed heavily hating himself for everything that had happened. For taking her away from Koga. His son should hate him. Hell he hated himself some days. 

"I'm sorry son. But I know she'd be proud of ya. She'd be worryin' over ya but....she'd be damn proud."

The female had an interesting scent about her. He could smell the wolf clearly enough. But the pointed ears atop her head told him enough about her mixed background. Unusual for wolves but she was most likely no worry for him or the other’s who lived on this land, his former tribe. He saw no reason to run the girl off. Not for something like that. Sure it was unheard of and Masaru himself found it silly, but she still had wolf in her. 

"It”s fine. There’s no one else to be bothered by ya." He replied amiably. "Plenty of space here for two. But I’d like ta know who is wanderin’ through this territory to do something as simple as stare at the sky."

She smiled to see that he was alright with her being there and she found a spot in the grass, nestling herself down to look up at the stars. Her tail was swaying happily behind her at the sight, mismatched eyes widening at the view. When he wondered why she was here though, she looked over at him, swallowing a tad out of nervousness,” …this place has the best hills to look at ‘em. I always love lookin’ at the stars..”

Possibly she gave him too simple of an answer, but it was one none the less, looking quite content with staring up at the sky. “Is..this your territory or somethin’? The names Kyouto. Whats your name?”

Masaru shook his head and couldn't help but return the smile. She reminded him of many of the tribe's pups back when he lead it. It was nice to see such innocence in one so young. But he didn't know her and he hardly believed her life was anything but innocent or happy. Not when she was a hanyou. "Yeah it has one of the best views of the territory here. I often like ta come out here. Quiet. Peaceful. Enough ta hear yerself think." Which he often did. 

His cobalt gaze returned to the skies above them but he nodded his response. "In a way. I used ta lead the tribe here. Now I'm simply just a part of it I guess. My son leads it now." He wondered if the girl already knew Koga, that would explain her ease at wandering into the territory like this. "I'm called Masaru."

The sky was a blanket of black covering the lands while the moon was only half an orb to be seen between thin wisps of cloud. In the patches of clear sky multitudes of tiny stars shone brightly. 

Masar stared upward and sighed, wondering if she was up there among those stars, twinkling down on him. He might have been in a partial daze but he could still make out the footfalls that came tentatively nearer. 

"I see I’m not the only one awake. You are intruding. Mostly on my private thinkin’." He spoke but his tone wasn’t angry or threatening.

Kyouto always knew that the best spots to look at the sky at night were on hills, big ones that made you feel like you could touch the stars. She had found one of said hills but, she wasn’t intending to find another on it. Slowly, she crept till the being soon spoke up, the scent on him definitely that of a wolf.

"….I..I didn’t know anyone else would be here tonight, honest." She said, ears pinning back against her head. How long had he been there? She didn’t recall seeing him during the day. Still, he didn’t seem to be threatening her or anything, never hurt to ask," Um..i..if ya don’t mind me, c..can I sit up here too? Its..kinda the best spot to see the stars."
