i’ve lost the meme, Harold. ! not accepting.

ricken feels guilty on top of everything, leave it to him to only realize this once they were at the door, moments away from knocking. he shuffles in place, keeping his gaze on the ground. he feels like he’s going to cry - voice cracking.

“think . . think how they would feel if it were you, i mean - you know what i mean. if you had a child, and you thought everything was okay, and then two men . . who were probably the ones who killed them, comes up and tells you that they’re dead. even if we leave out what they’re last words were, it’s not . . not a good idea,” he’s imagining it too well. imagining it as his parents being told - he sniffles. 

“..smiles won’t help. i don’t expect you to understand, but i don’t think i can go in there and tell those folks that their baby is dead. even if they’re evil . . ish. ”
