Is there a reason there are so many ocs people ship Lloyd with whose colour palettes are primarily purple? Like, don't get me wrong, green and purple are an amazing colour combo. But these ocs are starting to look the same ngl. Also lowkey they're kinda just repeating Garsako's colours hmmmmmm 👀👀👀👀👀coincidence?

It's either a shade of purple or a shade of pink

I think it's because they are complementary colors on the color wheel and even if you don't know color theory formally you kind of figure it out if you have drawn enough

But also a lot of us have seen other ocs and self inserts in fanfics and have taken the concept of them and evolved them into our ocs over time so I do think that is where the color palette comes from too

i don't really want to weight in on the "using big words in your writing is ableist" discourse happening on tiktok because i'm like 90% certain it's an anti-intellectual psyop to stir up drama in online circles to promote the use of ai to summarize literally everything and thus feeding the LLMs and lowering the populace's mistrust of such tools but i also have to say: dictionaries and thesauruses are the most accessible they've ever been. if you use an e-reader of any kind you can look up a word without leaving the page. there's a plethora of online dictionaries and if you just type a word + "meaning" into google it'll usually give you a definition. we used to have pocket dictionaries we used when reading in class. i have two on my shelf right now that i used in high school. stop letting the fascists purposefully misuse anti-ableism rhetoric to trick you into never thinking again.

These pescatarian birds are directly exposed to PFAS contamination due to the island's position near the St. Lawrence Seaway.

Over fifty years of data show a peak in PFAS (also known as "forever chemicals") content in seabird eggs in the 90s, followed by a decrease as regulations went into effect. The most recent findings show a 70% decrease of most common PFAS.

Yes!!!! I did a review of literature on PFASs in human drinking water about half a year ago, and there is a lot of really good progress! Please celebrate this, please don't let this solution be forgotten (at least so quickly) as the ozone layer or acid rain.

We are making genuine progress! Producers are dramatically altering how much they use PFAS and how much gets released in effluent, but also there's a lot better understanding of how to remove PFAS from the environment!

I think hugging enemy lloyd and accepting that they, together were enough and it's okay even if they aren't would've caused him to pass the trial

But Lloyd won't do that, he can never accept that he is enough because he always feels like he can be better

He would've seen it as accepting failure and accepting that he can't complete the trials of the whispering woods.

MRI machines and cooling units and AC and IT systems in hospitals are breaking due to the heat. Lab equipment is failing. Some cancer treatments cannot be done due to machine failures. A&E overcrowding is worse due to heat related health issues and sheer amount of people is making the heat in hospitals worse (and the AC! Is breaking!) Patients with appointments are being advised to bring in "a lot" of water with them to be able to safely attend. Fans cannot be used in hospitals. Norwich has no functuoning MRI scanners right now. And the staff have to keep working through all of this, they are getting ill and sleep deprived which is compounding issues further. This is not normal 👍

We can agree that “It should have been you” nonsense the writers had Misako on was misogynistic, right?

Because why was THAT what the writers decided to do? It was totally unnecessary to have her have feelings for Wu or hit on him. I get that her husband was evil, but for fucks sake, there was no reason to make her character revolve around her indecisiveness between who she wanted to be with, when she decided DECADES AGO. The writers kept dragging her character through the mud and made her so unapologetic over it, like she wasn’t emotionally cheating on her husband.

What was the fucking point? In a kids show nonetheless.

Don’t get me wrong, Misako is by no means perfect even ignoring this, but I refuse to acknowledge that mess between her and the brothers any more and want this plot wiped off of canon completely. It just feels gross to think about.

I could understand that her dropping off Lloyd thinking it’d help delay the battle by teaching him bad behaviors, and give him a place to stay while looking for a way to prevent destiny completely. It was a bad call, but she couldn’t have predicted him being kicked out and becoming essentially homeless, then everything after that. Still at fault for not keeping in contact with him, but again, she’s a flawed character.

Thinking about misako’s character, and how dirty the writers did her pisses me off so bad. If they wanted her to be a hatable character, they could have done it some other way that children would actually understand rather than expose them to that nonsense.

While I absolutely do agree that the writing for Misako is riddled with just… so many issues and the unconscious misogyny lacing a lot of the early seasons’ writing definitely didn’t help, there is an interesting (at least to me) angle that I’d like to point out about this line:

Misako was correct.

Now, this line happens in season 2, BEFORE the whole letter fiasco (and honestly that situation just makes the line even more true), but even then she’s pretty much entirely correct. You gotta remember that nobody thought Garmadon would survive The Final Battle, including Garmadon himself (in the event that Lloyd won), ergo he wasn’t gonna come back from anything he was currently doing. And what he was currently doing is terrorism with mass casualties. Like, she and Garmadon hadn’t seen each other for roughly a decade at that point (give or take some years depending how old Lloyd is since Garmadon was presumably banished just after the kid was born) and he was doing all of that… yeah I don’t blame Misako for having some reconsideration of her past decisions about a romantic partner.

Maybe I’m biased but I really don’t like the whole “but she was cheating” argument I see so often in this fandom because, as already mentioned they were separated for like a decade, plus the argument comes with the implication that Garmadon was owed Misako’s undying loyalty as a spouse just… because. Because she’s his wife and as we all know wives HAVE to be loyal and perfect no matter what their husband does. Like he gets to do all of these terrible things (again, not even MENTIONING the letter) but the minute Misako starts having complicated feelings about the guy she married that is currently trying to take over the world and kill anyone that stands in his way, that’s a step too far.

And of course when you start considering the letter in all this it just makes Misako more justified because, technically speaking she should’ve married Wu. And her life probably would’ve been better if she did. Maybe not perfect, and we obviously have no way to know for sure because this is a “what if”, but I don’t think it’s a stretch to say most likely things would’ve been significantly less emotionally disastrous at every turn had she received that letter as intended and married Wu.

It’s also just a shame because honestly this whole plotline could’ve been a VERY interesting examination of just how far your love for someone can go. Where is the line? At what point do you need to set love aside and agree they have to go down? And with the letter there’s the whole “don’t speak ill of the dead” thing. Well what if the dead did something remarkably shitty and they’re no longer around to answer to the people hurt by it?

Some Lloyd and Garmadon headcanons for father's day because I miss them.

A good chunk of the plants at the monastery now are actually Garmadon's gifts to Lloyd. There were more but Lloyd couldn't initially take care of a plant to save his life.

Just like Lloyd slowly picked up gardening from his father, Garmadon picked up reading from Lloyd.

There was a period of time when whenever Lloyd would get overwhelmed with all the ninja stuff he'd run away to where Garmadon lives and they would watch movies together or talk about the recent book/comic they've read. This has happened so many times that at one point Vinny wasn't even surprised to see Lloyd in his apartment after coming back from work.

Garmadon keeps a small pack of mint chocolates for Lloyd at home.

They do still fight. A lot. Usually about really stupid stuff that gets forgotten the next day.

Lloyd at one point gave Garmadon a phone so they could text. Garmadon is a very dry texter who uses short sentences and emojis to communicate and it drives Lloyd, the chronic overthinker he is, absolutely insane.

Yapper/listener dynamic but they switch roles depending on the situation and topic of a rant.

Even though Lloyd made Garmadon promise to not force Oni training on him, Lloyd still asked to teach him how to use it after he almost lost control during training one time. Some of those lessons ended up turning into these odd therapy sessions for both of them.

During those training sessions Garmadon learned quite a few mildly concerning Lloyd fun facts and, because he has no social awareness, he nonchalantly drops them on the team when visiting the monastery. It causes everyone to be a bit shocked and concerned while Lloyd is in the corner contemplating patricide.

They're both some kind of a flavour of autistic.

Lloyd is now actively trying to teach Garmadon compassion and just overall humanity and with him around Garmadon is learning at a much faster rate.

Garmadon has tried many ways to bond with Lloyd with varying levels of success.

They occasionally speak Oni to each other. The conversations vary from serious to silly to talking shit about something. It's so no one can figure them out.

Garmadon can't remember much from his past life but his paternal instincts are still on point. Whenever Lloyd is in any kind of danger that would leave him gravely injured or worse, Garmadon immediately jumps in to protect him.

Lloyd has just kind of gotten used to it and even allows himself to be more reckless and daring around his father since he knows he'll be fine. Garmadon will complain about it the entire time but he'll still save him.

They have a sixth sense for when one of them is hiding something or not telling the whole thing. Garmadon would just pick at Lloyd until he snaps, but Lloyd is more subtle with poignant glances and nudges until Garmadon caves in. He caves in much quicker because he can't bear having Lloyd be mad at him.

Lloyd almost never calls Garmadon "dad" anymore. It's usually just "father". The only time you'll hear Lloyd call him "dad" is if it's an emotional reaction of some kind like surprise or fear.

I’m sitting here rn thinking about we barely see him actually express any actual hobbies or interests outside of being a ninja?

Clearly this guy has shitty mental health (evident from the newest dragons rising season) and probably ties a lot of his self worth to being a ninja.

So- what is he going to do when he can’t be one anymore? Realistically- most elite gymnasts and such retire mid to late twenties depending on how intense their training is, and assuming all the ninja are late teens early twenties he only has like- what? 5, 8 years if he’s lucky? Maybe less depending on the injuries he’s gotten in battles?

And the last time he quit being a ninja he was a window cleaner, so clearly he doesn’t have proper education or other major job experience outside of being a ninja- DOES HE GET PAID?? Nope prolly not. He essentially has no backup plan or safety net financially speaking!

Bros a child soldier who’s gonna find he has nothing going for him except the one thing that essentially took away his childhood and gave him a waterparks worth of trauma-

This kinda goes for most of the ninja BUT I would argue they all have a little something they can fall back into once their bodies can’t keep up with the physical toll anymore. Not saying they wouldn’t help Lloyd out but still I think it’s interesting-

I mean Lloyd is a Sensi now but I would say thats ninja adjacent- not an actual external interest outside of what he currently does, I stg he’s gonna have a whole personality crisis when he’s forced to stop.

Although I will argue with myself that Sensi Wu is still able to do fighting throughout the series so maybe there’s hope for Lloyd yet

Not to mention fully realizing his powers at the Whispering Woods might've fixed up his body some since it gave him a new form it does effect him physically

I kind of like the idea of him going deeper into plant care. It's a bit cliche for an elemental master life but I think it would be good for him (gardening is actually proven to be amazing for mental health and helps with things like ptsd and anxiety) but I'm fully aware that I'm biased towards gardening because if I ever go back to college it would be for botany

Some things we know about Misako, from comics and the show

Her mom is apparently alive, at least during the time of Rise of the snakes

She's part of the explorer club

She loves garmadon but regrets her choice because of what it brought upon Lloyd

She is genuinely in love with both brothers and regret and opportunity makes those feelings bubble back up and some times she acts on them (also she thought Garmadon was going to die)

She regrets her choice of leaving Lloyd at darklys

Lloyd forgave her

Her choice to leave Lloyd at darklys was in hopes it could prevent the final battle so he and garmadon didn't have to fight to the death

(It's also likely this choice was the only reason Lloyd became the green ninja because otherwise he likely would've stayed in the whispering woods as its guardian once he came of age. Which might sound like a good thing but 1 no one would have been able to defeat the overlord 2 as far as we know Misako had no idea this could be a possible conclusion)

It's really not much. Everything else about her is just fandom headcanon

I think it's weird that people say Lloyd fumbled Harumi when she's the one who purposely fucked up a relationship with a walking literal green flag who cared about and validated her feelings. Yeah sure Lloyd fumbled his abuser cuz he *checks notes* wanted her to stop being a horrible person. Yeah. Ok.

I think I found my most valuable plant

Technically it's just seeds because I have to plant it

But it's soapwort and I can boil 3 tbsp of fresh plant parts (any part is useable and it grows like mint) in a cup of water and get soap

It's a very gentle soap so it may not get out most stains and require lot's of scrubbing but being able to be clean is such a big deal especially with the rise of antivaxxers. Disease spreads through mess and dirt

I consider it part of herbal medicine because of how useful it is
