Oh my god. I get that Adler is cool and all, and a lot of us like manipulative/toxic men, but the fact that he has almost twice as much /reader content on ao3 as Woods, Alex Mason, and David Mason combined is ridiculous.

There are so many things wrong with people hating on the next God of War game just because it’s not only about Laufey(like 2018 GoW is even if they refuse to admit it) but you will play as her too.

Something funny to me about it though is the “call it Goddess of War” sentiment.

As someone who hasn’t played any of the games yet, why should they? She isn’t a god. She’s a frost giant. Powerful for sure, but not a god.

She fought Thor, fought Kratos when they met and married him, fights Begtse (another god of war) in the first couple minutes of gameplay, and has been known as Laufey the Just which sounds badass. Her given name alone makes me envious.

I think adding her name at the end of the usual God of War title is enough.

“But Kratos is the god of war it should be about him!”

The same Kratos that becomes the god of hope? The same Kratos that was given the title by Athena GODDESS OF WAR STRATEGY after killing Ares GOD OF WAR?

There are over a hundred war gods, some of which are from the same pantheon.

Just sit back, relax, get over the sexism, and enjoy the new lore you’ll be getting. No sense in bitching about playing as a woman as long as the story is good and the gameplay is better.

I’m sure there are I’m just surprised I haven’t seen any yet. Of course I’m mostly on ao3 and doomscrolling TikTok so maybe I’ve just been missing it.

This new species shows up, kind of stunned that the taumoeba aren’t eating these two different aliens they have never seen before alive, and acts like they carry the plague and vice versa. They just have to chill out in a protective suit or something to make sure they don’t die trying to get these two to leave their planet/planet of origin alone.

If Dante ever has a kid, I don’t want it to be because he was in a relationship with someone like Vergil was.

I want that ‘Nero is a Vergil clone’ theory type of kid. I liked that theory. The deadly fortune novel practically made Nero a Vergil clone (because what do you mean Vergil was passing down his beef with Dante to Nero?), and I want that. But Nero isn’t. So the next best option is to give Dante a clone child. It’d be angsty as fuck, but it’d really fit the aroace Dante headcanons too so who gives a fuck?

Make him reproduce asexually for all I care.

So I’m half way through the Project Hail Mary Audiobook, and I’ve noticed there are quite a few differences. A few of those things being about Ryland Grace and how he acts. I’m sure I will definitely see more as I get closer to finishing the book.

I have not yet watched Iron Lung and plan to do it after I finish the PHM book, but I am curious about bloodymary.

Does anyone else ever think about one of V’s early concepts being a woman?

I will always be curious about what Devil May Cry 5 would have looked like if they had gone with this concept (which was really only done to explore all of the options and was never actually considered to be implemented If I’m not mistaken).

I guess in some ways it’d sort of make sense since Dante and Vergil’s demon side comes from their father, and to separate from it would change a little more than just their species and appearance.

The way her hair is drawn makes me think that one of her abilities would be related to it, and I’m not sure if that’s meant to be Shadow behind her or some other sort of demon/nightmare.

Even if they stuck with the same abilities, it certainly would have changed some of the reactions everyone had to V, and then Vergil’s reappearance.

I'm reading the DMC5 novel: Before the Nightmare right now, and not even half way through the book I was hit where it hurt.

I was aware that Lucia's feelings for Dante were addressed, but no one told me that it's implied one of the reasons he refuses to date her is because he's aging much faster than she is and that he'll likely meet his end long before she does. I was also not told that Lucia wants so badly to not depend on Dante that she didn't want him to come to Vie de Marli/Dumary at all, even when Matier insisted they call him, and went behind Lucia’s back to get him there. Apparently Lucia doesn't even leave the island anymore.

Why can't Capcom just let any of the DMC characters be happy for five minutes?

Tell me why I got into an argument about Lady’s character, and me explaining how the two versions were vastly different got a response of “you all hate to see complicated female characters”. I replied that it isn’t the fact that she’s a complex character, it’s that it wasn’t necessary to make her that way, except to further push the propaganda.

They straight up asked me what propaganda I was talking about.

THE ENTIRE NETFIX ANIME IS PROPAGANDA. IT’S IN YOUR FACE POLITICAL, TELLING YOU HOW TO FEEL ABOUT THE SITUATION. IF YOU CAN’T SEE THAT, HOW FUCKING BLIND ARE YOU?!

The entire show has been in our faces about how the American government is corrupt and everyone is working with only their own interests in mind. Season 2 solidifies that with the president’s betrayal, Baines only focusing on his “holy war” instead of the good of the people, and then there’s Arius (a rich dude) uplifting it for his own success.

The entire show has been an anti-government message in a way that it has taken away from the characters we know and love.

What makes it worse is that Adi Shankar doesn’t even actually believe any of it, because he supports trump.

The reason I ask is because I know some of us Netflix haters may be biased.

For as much as I hate the Devil May Cry Netflix anime, and how much I hate explaining why and am told to just enjoy the fact we’re getting new content at all and the other three lines I keep hearing over and over again-

There’s something that is so comical in seeing how one adaptation has some of us acting. Damn near ready to rip out each other’s throats over their opinions on the show. Some of us taking stances and dying on those hills even when they can be proven wrong.

Like yeah- I’m sure some of us did (stupidly) think that this shit would be a copy of the games, but the rest of us cannot be judged just for wanting an adaptation that does justice to the major and “minor” characters, and not being happy that that’s not what happened.

Am I gonna voice my hate of the show? Yes. But let’s not shame people for liking it. At the very least keep the arguments civil, and try to see from the other person’s perspective. For all we know, the person we are discussing with is a person new to the series starting with the show, or a longtime/hardcore fan who can’t imagine a character doing some of the things they do in the show.

Some of us love it, some of us hate it, can we leave the fighting over it to certain spaces, because I think some of us are tired of it, and the toxicity levels are slowly starting to remind me of the resident evil fandom.

Does anyone else feel like they’re trying to cater to the game fans by using lines and scenes that are straight from the games, and it’s falling flat?

Because tell me why we’ll have people in our ears saying that of course it’s not to be an exact copy of the games (like we didn’t already know that, it’s not what most of us asked for anyways), and then we see shit that is straight from the games. And it’s the most iconic lines and scenes too, like it’s going to make up for the mischaracterizations, waste of other canon characters, etc..

It’s giving fanfiction written by a fifth grader.

(What I’m about to say is as a danlady fan, but admittedly I’m a bigger trishlady fan)

In light of the 2 danlady kisses in season 2, and seeing some of the reactions to it, I fear the anime fandom does not know what yearning is.

They barely know each other, especially since Dante spent a longer time in cryosleep than he knew Lady. With the end of the season especially, it seems like a trauma bond fueled romance that’s doomed to fail/be mildly toxic.

This is compared to the at least 20 years of (potential/lightly hinted) yearning between Dante and lady, between games three and five.

If Adi continues to push Danlady after this, I doubt it will be good in any sense, unless there is some serious growth, but with this anime’s pacing, I doubt it. It makes it an even bigger hit to my enjoyment to the series, but maybe it’s for the best considering Lady doesn’t feel like the Lady most of us know and love in this series.

We can all agree that changing Dante’s relationship to Nell (and therefore the meaning behind Ebony and Ivory) in the anime was bullshit, right?

Because what do you mean the only mother figure other than Eva Dante has is reduced to an acquaintance he meets briefly to give him guns made from makaian metal? At the request of Mary, mind you.

This woman spent her last moments making sure the parts of the gun were ready for Dante to put together. This woman who, towards the end of her life, only fixed up guns rather than made them, made Ebony and Ivory for Dante anyways because of how much she loved him. This woman was reminded of her son when she looked at Dante, so much so that she thought he was him during her final moments.

TO NOT ONLY CHANGE THIS, BUT TO DOWNPLAY NELLS SKILLS IS INSULT TO INJURY. Because in the novel that woman made those guns from metals 100% found on earth and they still don’t break apart in Dante’s hands, because she’s just that skilled.

I was afraid during the anime they’d rush their bond then kill her off at the end of season, but they still reduced her to that brief intro to him and a “she’s the grandma i’d wish I had” from Dante.

I don’t think Adler cared about Bell, but I don’t think he wanted them dead.

What Bell knew and how useful they could be to him seems like a waste. Perseus was still out there, and Adler has wanted to catch him for years. So why kill Bell instead of trying to get more out of them?

I personally think that Adler was ordered to do it. If Adler wanted Bell dead he would have done it the moment the mission was complete. Instead, he helped them back to their feet, then took them to a secluded space later to do it.

I think Adler still would have killed Bell eventually, but it seemed so odd to me that Adler would waste the opportunity to learn more from someone in Perseus’s inner circle.

This might be a hot take

Even if the story of 7 didn’t break canon of 2 (by keeping both Harper and Chloe alive), the fact that they have David kill Mendez feels kind of disappointing and it’s not because it means Mason doesn’t come back.

One of the things I liked about David was how different he was to his dad and woods. His parts of the campaign felt more like uncovering the truth of what happened back when Mason and Woods were still active in the field. David didn’t do things like either of them, and it’s unlikely he wanted to or else he would have joined the C.I.A like they did.

Killing Menendez was well within his rights both personally and professionally, but the idea that David had the restraint not to do it cements the fact he is an entirely different type of character compared to his dad and Woods, knowing that neither one of them would have hesitated for even a second if it was one or the other in David’s shoes.
