talking to my dad is a freaking minefield. Today at dinner I asked him if he’d ever been to New York City in the 90′s and he was like, “nope. Only in the 70′s to donate blood for my mom in the hospital while she was dying from leukemia.” I swear I didn’t even know my grandmother had leukemia (may she rest in peace). This is worse than the time I asked him if he’d ever had riding lessons and he said, “not since my childhood lesson pony burned to death in a barn fire in Kentucky.”

Okay, so I’ve seen some of the tags on this, and a lot of it is making fun of this dude for thinking he was straight when it was so clear he wasn’t.

But ya’ll don’t get it. This is EXACTLY what it’s like to be bi. If you grew up in any sort of environment where LGBT was Not Accepted, and you had any inclination toward the opposite sex, you just ran with that, because that’s all you were ever taught to look towards. And because for the longest time even the media was all ‘you’re either gay or straight’, forgetting that the B in LGBT has been there for quite a fucking while, you had no outside stories or icons you could turn to for guidance. 

No one teaches you what being in a same sex relationship is supposed to be like or feel like, and what’s worse, most likely all you know is a caricature of what a homosexual relationship and/or person is, so your own experiences really won’t match up. So none of what’s happening to you makes sense with what you know.

So I can 100% fully believe my dude here thought he was straight. Until society teaches what it also means to be bi, this will neither be the last nor weirdest story you ever hear about a bisexual awakening.

Give the dude a chance.

Well, went to go see an old movie in an overcrowded theatre which made me a bit nervous, as much as I love going by myself. Just thoughts this evening in how I'm so done with a certain company. You can't have management constantly stalk, badmouth, and question personal aspects of a Cast Member's life without doubt. It's not work appropriate or even considerate. In time. It gets better.

Hey Tumblr, it's been a while. Just recently started a new corporate job that's hopeful and will give me free education/licenses. On the edge of putting notice into Disney and being done after nearly 6 years. I think the James Gunn treatment really speaks the companies colours as they went OVER Marvel making the sole decision. You don't just fire someone like that. Overall hoping life gets better. Stay positive.
