Hiccup Haddock x female reader
Warnings: mentions of injury, a little bit of anxiety (I think), confessions of love, fluff ending.
Summary: You get injuried on a mission and when you come back you try to hide it from Hiccup but that doesn't work. When you wake up, He is right there by your side with something on his mind.
You limp over to your dragon, wincing and gritting your teeth as pain floods through your whole body. "Ah fuck" You cursed out as you slowly hop onto your dragon and give them a pat indicating to take flight. Your dragon takes flight and you try to take steady breaths while trying to stay conscious. Once you make it back home, you spot Hiccup standing there which made your heart skip a beat.

You hop off your dragon and look at Hiccup but your vision kept going in and out. Hiccup notices you swaying on the spot and he immediately wraps his arms around your waist to try and steady you. "Hey are you ok?" He asks you but before you could answer, your vision blurs and goes dark as you pass out in his arms. Your head lolls on his shoulder and Hiccup wastes no time, lifting you up in his arms and running towards the med bay.
Hiccup bursts through the med bay doors and all of the nurses turned their heads as they all see you in his arms limp and unconscious. "Help Please!" Hiccup shouts with concern in his voice and a couple of nurses rush over to him as one of them quickly takes you before bringing you to a bed. "What happen Hiccup?" The head nurse asks him as they start assessing you, checking for broken bones or wounds.
"I-I don't know I was waiting for her and when she came back from the mission s-she seemed off and before she could say anything she passed out in my arms" Hiccup explains as he runs his hands through his hair as he feels his heart race. "Okay Okay we'll figure it out Hiccup" One of the other nurses tell him as they place their hand on his shoulder. He watches as they lift up your shirt to reveal a good size wound which makes his head run with a hundred thoughts.
Are you going to be okay?
How bad is it? Is it life threatening?
Hiccup runs his hands through his hair as he makes his way towards the entrance of the med bay, needing some fresh air urgently. Once he walked through the doors he leaned his back up against the wall and closed his eyes, trying to focus on his breathing as he could feel his heart beating through his chest. You didn't know this but Hiccup had strong feelings for you and just seeing you injuried like that and you passing out in his arms made him realized something...
After what seemed like hours, the doctor comes outside looking for Hiccup and he practically leaps off the wall and walks towards the doctor. "Hiccup there you are" The doctor says as he gives Hiccup a gentle smile. "Hey doctor, what's the news?" Hiccup asks as he watches the doctor's face for a reaction or change in his demeanor. The doctor smiles as he places his hand on Hiccup's shoulder, patting it a couple of times. "Y/n is gonna be just fine. The wound has been cleaned and bandaged up. You came here in time Hiccup, good job" The doctor explains, giving one last pat on Hiccup's shoulder before heading inside.
"Wait! Can I see her?" Hiccup asks as he sees the doctor turn around and nod his head, giving Hiccup the go ahead to see you. Without hesitation, Hiccup speed walks back inside and starts looking for you and once he spots you he heads over to your bedside and gently grabs your hand. He presses your hand to his cheek and closes his eyes, taking a deep breath of relief before opening his eyes back up as he just looks at you. His eyes wander from your hair, to your closed eyes, to your soft lips and then down to your chest, watching it slowly rise up and down.
A few hours passed by but Hiccup stayed right there, waiting for you to wake up and just admiring how peaceful you look and how beautiful you are. Slowly, your eyes flutter open and you turn your head to see Hiccup sitting there, your hand in his hands with his eyes closed. You let out a soft grunt sound as you try to adjust yourself which wakes him up and you watch his eyes widen in surprise before leaning up and giving you a kiss on your forehead.
"Hey there" He says sitting back down and you smile before feeling the butterflies in your stomach take flight. "H-Hey there yourself" You say as you let out a small chuckle but wince from the pain. "Easy there y/n, don't want to hurt yourself more" Hiccup said and you rolled your eyes playfully before looking at him. "You stayed" You whispered and he nods his head, keeping his eyes on you. "Of course I stayed" He says as he gives you a gentle smile which made your heart skip a beat.
"Why?" You ask him and he tilts his head before looking down at the ground, almost as if he was trying to find the right words. "I stayed because...I realized something today" He starts off, looking back at you with a whole new look in his eyes. "I realized that I love you Y/n. I've loved you for some time now and I didn't know how to say it. Seeing you today, injuried and hurt made me realize just how much I love you Y/n" Hiccup confesses and you couldn't help but feel your heart explode from excitement and love that you been keeping bottled up.
You feel the smile creep onto your lips as your cheeks flush a slight tint of pink. "I love you too Hiccup. I have loved you for some time now too but didn't want to say anything in case you didn't feel the same way" You confess which makes him smile widely as he leans up and places his hand on your face, stroking your cheek softly as he leans down slightly. "Can I kiss you?" He asks you softly and you bite your lip before nodding your head.
Hiccup crashes his lips into yours and the moment you two kiss, Fireworks explode and for a moment the whole world disappears. For the few moments, its just you two and no one else.
He pulls away from the kiss first, smiling so much that it made you giggle. "What? What's so funny hm?" He questions and you place your hands on his cheeks as you too start to smile so much. "You're smiling like an idiot" You say teasingly and he rolls his eyes as he sits down on the side of the bed, grabbing your hands from his face and placing them in his. "Will you be my girlfriend Y/n?" He asks and you nod your head instantly as you try to sit up, wincing in the process.
"Just as long as you'll be my boyfriend" You said and Hiccup nods his head without hesitation.
