quick facts ( tw cancer, tw death )
born and raised in houston, texas. his father was an artist while his mother was a certified nursing assistant at a nursing home near their apartment complex. it wasn’t grand, but his father taught him to see the best parts of life.
he was a glass half-full kind of man and from an early age, he taught maximiliano to express himself through creative means. he wasn’t even walking when he first picked up a crayon and scribbled all over an unfinished piece of his father’s work. instead of getting angry, his father displayed the piece on the wall and years later, it was never moved.
at the age of seven, maximiliano’s family welcomed another child into the family. it was during this time that things grew tougher than ever. his father’s art wasn’t selling, his mother was barely getting enough hours to cover rent, and it seemed like everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. however, his father’s faith never broke. after living from check to check, the cortez family managed to catch a break when one of his father’s old pieces ended up in a collector’s lot. having loved the piece, they wanted another to match. so, after his father was located and a hefty check was written out, it all changed.
at the age of fifteen, maximiliano lost his father to a battle that no one could have beaten. it was surprising to say the least and truth be told, the family never quite recovered from the loss. in an attempt at helping out, he got job while trying his hand at art in the way his father did. no one wanted his work though and out of frustration, he stopped trying. he lost himself and by the age of eighteen, maximiliano didn’t even recognize the man he’d become.
rather than continue down the awful path he was taking, the eldest cortez child opted to leave rather than to put his family through another tragic ending. he packed up what little he had and left with no intention of ever returning. after all, leaving had been hard enough, but coming back? he couldn’t do it.
throughout the years, maximiliano has checked in on his mother and sister from afar. he has even been known to send checks their way without any signature of who it could be from.
he’s never called any place home for too long, but he’s held down various jobs as a tattoo artist while leaving a trail of murals in his wake. it’s not something he advertises because he doesn’t want the credit behind the art. he wants to make a difference in the world in ways he never thought he could.
after years of circling the world and looking for something more, he’s finally looking to plant his roots somewhere and with a certain travel companion’s insistence, he’s willing to give providence peak a go. will it stick? only time will tell, but in the meantime, be on the lookout for new murals around the city.
wanted connections
one night stand(s). he’s very open about not looking for anything serious. he tends to avoid complicated situations and is just looking to have a little fun.
someone he’s met in the past. they could have hit it off or made friends for a night or something, but they lost touch. this could legit go anywhere, so please, let’s get creative with it.
claret park neighbor. he’s going to be living with adriana and katerina in claret park. i imagine he goes jogging through the neighborhood a lot, so anyone living in claret park could potentially bump into him.
fellow art lovers. while he doesn’t claim his own artistic abilities, he does love art and would share that love openly.
jack’s tree farm. anyone he’s met at the tree farm. maybe he helped them cut down or pick out the perfect tree for their place. again, we can go anywhere with this.
