IM SORRY WHY DID NO ONE TELL ME THAT ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE NOVELS AND THE MOST REALISTIC DEPICTION OF THE SERVICE INDUSTRY I HAVE EVER SEEN (SWEETBITTER) WAS MADE INTO A TELEVISION SHOW AND NOT ONE BUT TWO OF MY SPECIAL INTEREST BEAUTIES ARE IN IT (ELLA PURNELL AND TOM STURRIDGE) ?!?!?!?!?!??! y'all don't really love me i see how it is.
what's the point of initiating conversations with people when 99.9% of them turn out to be normies
okay. how do I put this. if you approach interactions with strangers as if the vast majority of them are unbearable losers who aren't worth your time, you will find yourself not liking most of the people you meet because you'll be looking for any excuse to write them off as unbearable losers. I know this is hard to hear but sometimes the problem is you.
also, if you approach interactions with strangers as if the vast majority of them are unbearable losers who aren't worth your time, most of them will notice and react accordingly by treating you like youre a pretentious prick instead of opening up
if you instead approach everyone like you are genuinely interested in getting to know them well enough to see if you want to keep them in your little collection of amazing weirdos and treasured nerds, you'll find a lot more to love about humanity and connection. you'll unlock parts of your brain you didn't even realize were there bc they were forgotten or buried so long ago. you'll find new hobbies and interests and cool shit to add to your watch or listen lists. people are incredible, but you have to treat them like they can be before you get to see that.
"i also don't know if langdon is going to relapse. i don't know if whitaker's gonna be able to take care of my shit. i don't know if javadi's gonna give up on what she's good at or if samira's gonna flame out because of some bullshit with her mother. i don't know about you running around with a full syringe of versed in your pocket."
this shit messed me up good. like really? you're gonna name them all one by one and feel responsible for their failures or successes but you're not gonna turn around and realize that they all also feel responsible for yours? they care about you back? bruh. BRUH.
How to show emotions
Part X
How to show pleasure
dilated pupils
mouth half opened
increased heart rate
increased breath rate
increased blood flow
heightened sensitivity
body parts turning warm and flushed
body parts becoming engorged or wet
tension in the entire body
trembling
involuntary contractions
hard to speak, but incapable to be quiet
How to show tenderness
sincere, warm, and open smile
slow and soft movements
leaning in towards what they feel tender about
listening carefully, head held towards them
gentle tone of voice
softening of facial expressions
relaxed eyebrows
soft and relaxed eyes
a hint of a tear appearing
relaxed mouth with a little smile
gently touching or stroking who or what they feel tender about
calm breathing, not too shallow, not too deep
How to show guilt
avoiding eye contact or looking down
tightness in the shoulders, neck, and jaw
being hunched over, slumped shoulders, making themself small
turning their body away from who they feel guilty towards
sweaty palms
trembling hands
heart racing
fidgeting with their entire body
crossing and uncrossing one’s legs
shifting from one foot to the other
pacing around
knot in the stomache, not being able to eat or eating too much to compensate
a feeling of heaviness in their body
How to show curiosity
open, dilated eyes
holding eye contact
raised eyebrows
tilting of the head
leaning towards what they find curious
mouth slightly open
uncrossed arms
actively listening
holding still, so they don't miss anything

NED BROWER as JESSE VAN HORN THE PITT — 2.11, “5:00 PM”
i would go to war for this man
*inhales shakily*
guys i just think the point is that they are making his ideation obvious to us, the viewers, and that almost guarantees they are not going to kill him. that would not be a satisfying story arc and while i have seen shows pull the absolute shittiest version of "here's a depressed character with suicidal ideation, obviously the only possible ending is that they kill themselves" (looking at you The Magicians......), that is not the stuff this show is made of. we see duke recognize it in robby's promise to stay until his CT is done and read, we see the crack in his façade when the camera lingers on him after al-hashimi explains brenda's attempt. we see it in the desperation with which he tells mohan to keep it all out. in the way he avoids langdon like the plague.
with each hour that passes, it becomes more obvious, and that leads me to believe they have a much more interesting story to tell. plus, no one is in any rush to get the genius, craft-dedicated wyle off screen.

THE PITT (2025—) S02 | E10
The thing about this moment that gets me is not just that it’s a rare glimpse this season into his empathy and the depth of care that he does have that we saw last season but how quickly it disappears!!! He’s shutting himself off from everyone and everything and it’s getting more and more obvious
