Relationship: Family, Friends , and Professors
Family: When it comes to my family my parents held all the power when I was growing up but now we hold equal power but its respectfully distributed.
Friends: In my friend circle ,power is equally distributed no one has any more or less power than the next person.
Professors: When it comes to the classroom, my professors hold all of the power. They determine how the class functions and how if the student pass or fails the class.
Power is based off of multiple factors which does include race,income, sexuality, and gender.In terms of race , white people in America contains all of the power , they will always have the better opportunity when it comes to all situations.In terms of income, the one percent of America that made what is considered to be the American Dream runs America, they have most of the control when it comes to who makes it in America. Sexuality also plays a part in power , in America males hold more power than women. Meaning when it comes to status.
There is no political negotiations that I came across in the course of a day.Normal negotiations were made between friends.
The power dynamics may change in my family because of all the outspoken people in my family.My family members are very opinionated which could cause a shift in power.

Chapter 13 fieldwork assignment
I interview my close friends’ sister , her name is Tennih Vincent. She’s originally from Liberia and moved to the United States at the age of eleven. Growing up , she was not allowed to go to school she expected to stay home and help out around the house.Her mother died at a very young age , so had to grow up very quickly causing her to not have much of a childhood. While in Africa she did not attend causing her not to be able to read or even do basic math. Living in Africa she only gained motherly habits and did not receive any educational background.
Knowing this her immediate family decided to move to the United States, expecting a better life better known as chain immigration. Including receiving excellent education and get to live as close to the American dream as possible. The expectations were set very high when they came to America.Meaning that if the expectations were not met, they could be possibly be sent to Africa.
For future generation, the Vincent last name was set very high.Each child was seen to be top at everything that they did. Including schools, sports, or even the careers they chose. Living in America she now knows how to read and do above average arithmetic.She has a very stable job and her immediate family is very well off.

Larry Page is the 12th richest man in the world, he is the co-founder and CEO of the world’s largest search engine better known as Google. The net worth of this CEO is 38.9 billion dollars.The CEO has given close to 200 million dollars to charity but he does say that he prefers to donate to entrepreneurs and businesses that just started out.

Chapter 10 Fieldwork
When defining family, it has numerous definitions some may say who is biologically related to an individual or some may say individuals who act as a family.While creating my family tree, I noticed that a lot my family does not come from my immediate family but from my extended family. When it comes to my father side , he has a larger family. My family last name is Gibbs , in which I get my last name from. His side comes from a urban city in Pennsylvania , called Chester. My father's’ parents had five children, two girls and three boys. Each of my father's siblings had at least one child. My father's siblings children also extended the Gibbs name by having numerous children which could keep the Gibbs name alive.
Meanwhile on my mother's’ side she was the only child when it came to the children they conceived together. My grandparents were divorced and my mother's’ father had three other children after. He had two more girls and one more boy to add to carry the Ross last name. Both of my aunts had at least one child but their children have yet to reproduce , which has stopped the growth of the Ross last name .My mother’s side of the family was also based in Chester,PA.
I grew up in a household where I was the only child my parents conceived together, they both had children before meeting. We all grew up together and always acted a true biological family.I was the youngest child in the household whereas my brother was the oldest child. None of my siblings have any children but my brother is married.
Looking at my family tree, my father side of the family will be alive for more generations than my mother’s side because someone is constantly being born on his side. Age plays a huge in the extension of my family, family members on my dad’s side are younger and more likely to reproduce while the opposite on my mother’s side.

When looking at commercials targeted towards girls, they use bright colors such as pink or purple.They also use other young girls to sell a product.Such as young girls playing with baby dolls or doing different arts and crafts.
When looking at commercials targeted towards boys,they used a more aggressive and violent approach.During these commercials you see boys fighting , running, and doing other athletic things.Most of the commercials are shot outside because that’s where boys spend most of there time.
The media does promotes different constructions of gender.The young girls and boys are presented with things at a young age which shapes the role in which society perceives each gender role. The toys presented for girls which includes cooking and taking care of baby dolls which gives the idea that woman are the nurturers. The toys presented for boys includes more masculinity such as driving fast cars and things to fight with which portrays men as the protector.

These do not work together because race determines who you truly are in this society and not the nation in which you come from.This society has determined phenotype as the most important in identifying an individual. Based off this preception discrimination occurs in this society.
In the year of 2016 the police department had managed to kill at LEAST 309 BLACK people in the U.S. Police are killing BLACK people at persistently high rates! It’s not about crime! There is no excuse for police violence! There is no accountability. And get this 30% of BLACK victims were unarmed in 2015! 13 of the 100 largest U.S. city police department kill BLACK men at higher rates than the U.S. murder rate! Do you see the pattern??? ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO LET YOUR SONS PLAY OUTSIDE TODAY BECAUSE THE OFFICERS BULLET MAY JUST HAVE HIS NAME ON IT!!!!!! So much for the land of the free!!

Race is simply the term used to describe a group of people who share the same culture, history, language, etc. but at the end of the day, every race shares one thing in common and that’s the fact that we are all human.

EVERYONE NEEDS TO WATCH THIS!!!!
This movie is the epitome of Black girl magic! It was amazing to see successful, intelligent, beautiful, and poise black women dominate a predominately white male field (Back in the day) . this movie is a history lesson and ironically black people are still suffering the same issues from 1950′s. Like being undermined for their work, taking the extra mile and not being allowed to take credit. sexism is a real thing. this movie helped me realize the importance of using your voice especially as a woman, Rosa Parks among other women spoke up to injustice and that has paved the way for change in our present day society.
I recently had the chance to rewatch Hidden Figures. While watching in my own home, I was able to notice parts I wasn’t able to see in the theater. The intricate and small details of the lives of the women who worked at NASA as “Computers”. Janelle Monae, Taraji P. Henson, and Octavia Spencer brought life to the stories of the unknown Black woman who set the tone for America’s role in the space race.
A positive movie, embracing Black girl magic. The movies is about a team of female African-American mathematicians who served a vital role in NASA during the early years of the U.S. space program.
