After two weeks I found comfort in you
As your hazel-green eyes found themselves meeting mine when they had nowhere better to go
As your head rested in my lap while I did your eyeliner
And as I tried to convince you not to stay with the girl who cheated because there’s gonna be someone better for you
After two weeks you became one of my people
I’d give you the world even though you don’t quite understand mine
We check off all the boxes for me to be the Moon you said you needed
All my secrets are yours except for the one
The one that could ruin that comfort,
The one that could ruin you being one of my people
That is, if it’s not a secret you keep from me as well
After two weeks I gained something new to piss off my best friend with
Something I need help with
Something that I cant figure out myself
Something I could never dream of asking you about
My stomach curls and aches at the thought of you learning
At the thought of your reaction
At the thought of the result
At the thought of your eyes looking into mine
At the thought of your hand making contact with my cheek
At the thought of your nose meeting mine
At the thought of your teeth grazing my lip
At the thought of my tongue in your mouth
At the thought of our friends being torn two ways
But after two weeks your green hair has faded just a little bit from when we first met
It matches my favorite color in places now
So I hope when you see it you think of the seams on my backpack and my favorite shirts
And after two weeks your laugh is engraved into my eardrums
And it echos a little when I need it most
The way you say my name like it fits perfectly through your teeth
Makes me want to lure it out with my strawberry lip gloss as bait
But after two weeks I’d be scared of the end
What about the other two?
What about the record shop by the school?
What about the Walgreens on the corner?
What about Romeo and Juliet?
What about our friendship?
So maybe after two more weeks pass this secret won’t haunt me
