thoughts i’ve had in my mind for a while
it’s so weird watching this whole kim k & lewis hamilton thing happen, especially when so many people immediately just say “well its PR so it doesn’t actually even matter” which i feel like heavily undermines the whole issue with lewis & kim k
kim k is a problematic person, she’s exploited her children since birth, she’s a zionist who’s gifted skims to IOF soldiers, her entire family have profited off of culture that isn’t their own, her family have a long history of ableism, racism, and many other issues. there’s absolutely countless other things you can mention that i’ve missed, not only that but she’s a billionaire & lewis has had a history of calling out the mega, mega wealthy.
and not only that, but the image/persona lewis crafted in recent years makes him the complete opposite of who he is dating and who had joined his circle in recent years and i think that’s partly why so many people feel so betrayed by it all. that this isn’t who lewis’ helmets, shirts and instagram posts have said he is.
so when people say “it’s just pr” or “its just for money” it doesn’t even matter because lewis is still allowing himself to be seen dating her, he’s allowing articles to be posted saying they’ll get married by the end of the year and live happily ever after. people are allowed to be hurt, angry and upset at lewis because this isn’t who they thought he was
it’s not parasocial to say lewis hamilton isn’t who people thought he was and it sucks to see, it hurts and it stings in a weird way to see a man many of us have admired/idolised or even just liked doing this.
people are allowed to be upset, people are allowed to leave this fandom or stop supporting lewis. it doesn’t mean they never supported him.
