i understand (on paper) why companies are anti-piracy but its funny when random individuals are also strongly anti-piracy. like how does it negatively affect your life if someone you know downloads a cracked torrent of sims 4. you dont work for EA. EA isnt gonna pay you for this. you lose nothing. its fine. chill out.
me, incorrect: everyone is probably sick of me writing about this character by now...
my inner voice, wise: ah, but this cannot be... because I am part of "everyone"... and until I am sick of reading about them... it will not be everyone
me, opening a new blank word doc: ur so right

"focaccia, serves 4" yes all 4 me
"tiramisu, serves 2" yes all 2 myself
Pizza, serves 8, yes I 8 it all.
@funnier-as-a-system wordplay aside we think this counts
funny seeing the google ai go on full defense for white people over the word honky while the wiki article it's sourcing is just like "yeah its some insult". they're injecting their own #alllivesmatter weights into the bot

I'm gonna say it, I do think that even the laziest person imaginable should have a roof over their head, food in their stomach, and access to healthcare
a lot of people are reblogging this saying that most "lazy" people are actually just disabled or that the concept of laziness itself is a product of our society's obsession with productivity. this is all true, but it is not my point.
even if someone WAS just lazy and simply didn't want to do anything but lie on the couch and watch tv, they should still have these things. it's irrelevant whether some people aren't actually lazy because everyone, including hypothetical lazy people, should have their basic needs met.
if we have the resources to do it, there is no defense of letting people die because they don't want to work, and much less because they can't.
I don't want lazy people to have basic necessities because they "actually" deserve them because they ARE working or CAN'T work. I want lazy people to have basic necessities because they are people, and we shouldn't leave them to die when we have the resources not to.
insane shit happening over on uquiz right now

Okay, I was just going to reblog this without commentary, but I can't keep this to myself. I'm a PhD student in environmental science and this is my fucking highway.
The first published study about climate change (that I am aware of-- feel free to point out if there's an older one) is an 1896 paper by Svante Arrhenius. He pointed out the link between the greenhouse effect and changes in atmospheric CO2.
Plate tectonics, which the geoscience community now recognizes as near indisputable, was a fringe theory until about the 1960s.
Just in case anyone thought that climate change was a "recent fad" in research.
The practice of fossil fuel companies knowing about and actively covering up scientific data about climate change and running disinformation campaigns to protect their bottom line is older than any existing fossil fuel company.

Our owners want us dead, that's really the only logical conclusion
