One of the most unrealistic aspects of ACOTAR is probably how these 500+ year old Fae don't have an historical of past lovers. You're telling me Rhysand, Tamlin, Azriel etc apparently never fell in love across five centuries? Cassian has a mention of a girl I think, and apparently Morrigan too?, but nothing remotely explored. The only character with a past relationship that is relevant to their development is Lucien, and even so we don't know much. There is also LoA and Helion if the affair counts. (I'm not taking in Elain because she's very young and the time factor is the point here).
Other than that, SJM is writing 500 year old beings as if they're falling in love for the first time
Rainbows are probably more common in the Autumn Court than everyone thinks... and I think that's adorable
If I ever need to read a scene where Prythian bows down to the all mighty, dreamers and saviors ✊🏻🤪High King and Queen Feysand... I might for real lose it
If Gwyn truly is the granddaughter of a Vanserra, it goes to show that Jesminda wasn't murdered because she was a lesser fae, or not ONLY that, but because of the sheer amount of hatred towards Lucien.
Because Gwyn's grandmother was a water nymph, aka a lesser fae, who had a child with a High Fae male from the Autumn Court. And it's even said that Gwyn's mother was taken into THE FOREST HOUSE, but was too wild to live there and therefore given/taken to the temple...
I don't doubt that the Autumn Court is racist... But what happened to Jesminda was DEEPLY PERSONAL too
I hope Lucien doesn't take it lightly and that he doesn't easily forgive everyone who hid his parentage from him.
His entire life could be different/could've been different. It is those closest to him who see how unhappy he is, and actively take/took away from him the opportunity of having a true home, a father, a life purpose, stability.
I want him to have an happy ending and a good relationship with all the characters who know, or might know: Feyre, Rhys, his mom, Eris, Helion, Tamlin. At the end of the day, besides Feyre and Rhysand who might not have pure intentions, the others would've hidden it out of fear and protection.
Nonetheless, I still want Lucien to put himself first this time and prioritize his own feelings: to crash out, to let it all out, to feel everything he has the right to feel. Even if deception happens out of fear or dare I say love, it is still a stab in the back and he has the right to be upset. I mean, just look at the life he had and the life he could've had (and still can).
I feel like the author will just brush over this and rush a HEA, as she tends to do in the last 50-100 pages. That Lucien might be so emotionally fulfilled with a mate (or whenever even happens to him), the ideia of a father, a home, and a possible reunion with his mother, that she will not allow his character to feel the full spectrum of feelings that come with a lie such as this one. He should be able to mourn what he didn't have, what was taken away from him at birth. Even if he understands people's motives, he is still allowed to honor his feelings... all of them.
(on this same logic and context. I think SJM will overall simplify Lucien's entire relationship with his mother. Trust me... When a child grows up being abused and mistreated, even if the other parent is a victim as well, the relationship will still NOT BE SUNSHINE AND RAINBOWS)
If Rhysand could mentally show Feyre that music when she was UTM, then he could've shown her ANYTHING else to help her, like in a dream.
He didn't need to take her out of the cell to live real experiences where she was drugged, displayed and touched by strange men (and Rhysand ofc...), "to help her stay alive, make the time UTM easier to endure" or whatever. He could've projected any soothing realistic dreams into her mind instead, (like lucid dreaming). And it would've even been better for her mentally and physically. But of course, just genuinely helping her was never his intention
How the Neris dance was like from Eris‘ POV
I don't usually love reusing plot points in the same series, BUT, I would be totally down for another exiled Vanserra who after all is morally grey instead of plain evil
I have just realized my sister sounds like Richard Lovell in any casual conversation about politics (not only politics actually) 😐🧍🏻♀️
Watch Elucien being "The Cure" vibe because their heads are full of poison and their hearts are full of doubt
AND ANOTHER THING ! there’s a difference bw calling elain unexplored or straight up not liking her vs calling her boring or even worse useless like she can see the fucking future how is that boring ??? Even if she wishes she was human and rebels against her powers and herself, is that not interesting? please in her limited appearances she’s faced her fears and fought and been sneaky and selfish and stood up for herself and admitted wrongdoing and apologized AND made friends and been sweet and kind and loving and happy and sad and horny and then after a life of loss and neglect and trauma she dared to dream about having a garden and a home and someone to love how is that boring ???????
I swear "Mother Knows Best" is literally Lovell and Robin's dynamic, but apparently I am the only crazy person around here to see it
Omg now I realize people must be confused. I don't mean the original, I mean THE REPRISE 😭
Cabin 6, Athena, BUT it's:
★ Overthinking each and every decision: You wanna buy a new phone? Let me learn about the specs and do a review of the entire market, plus 50 reviews on YouTube. You wanna buy a perfume? Let me learn about notes and perfume chemistry to make the best possible purchase.
★ Craving the practicality of people who don't overthink: "Omg they wanted a perfume, went to the store, smelled one they liked and just bought it without comparing it to other perfumes or searching about it??..."
★ Being scared of vulnerability, of not knowing things or looking inadequate: Something as simple as needing to know how a specific coffee shop works before going in. Being afraid of people noticing you are indeed a bit lost and need help. Being scared of not knowing how to proceed in general, therefore always wanting to know at least the basics of how anything operates
★ Having an open mind but lacking that free spirit: There is a universe in your mind and you are so open to learn, question, imagine... but you are stuck in there. You wish you could laugh freely, that you were more expressive, more lively, even that you felt more intensely, or acted more impulsively just for the sake of truly feeling alive. Sometimes people want to shake you.
★ Thinking there is nothing special about your capacities, until you see other people: Not wanting to feel superior to anyone, but having an internal monologue of "no way people like this exist"
★ Caring about accuracy: "... actually... that's not what happened in canon because bla bla bla", "so... that's not the best word because if you say that...", "no, that's not true", "how can people truly be selling cameras on Vinted that don't work for 50€+ ??? That's like 10€", "how can you upload a camera and not even specify what model it is??"
★ Being annoyed by what seems to be lack of common sense: "omg can't this person realize that if they lean against the bar, they're blocking dozens of people from being able to hold themselves?? (on the subway, train etc)"
★ Not being able to stay shut when people give you criticism: you always become defensive, especially if you think the other person's comment isn't taking in the full picture or fully seeing your reasoning
Elain betrayal this, Gwyn betrayal that
Amren is sitting right there having a very inconsistent backstory, conveniently remembering (and misremembering!!) ancient history at very opportune times, pushing for Rhys to be a tyrannical oppressor of the other courts when she apparently lived through not only the rule of Amarantha but also the rise and fall of Fionn and Theia. Not to mention her trying to make Nesta feel like a waste of life only to encourage Rhys to use her as a weapon. She’s already betrayed the trust of Nesta and Feyre in my eyes.
Her ass was in that prison for a reason
When Lucien’s eyes reflect both his heritages
Russett eye: Autumn Court Heritage, inherited from his mother, described as having flames within them during intense emotions, also described as a bottomless forge
Golden eyes: Day Court, can see through spells and glamours. Gold is a common color worn in the Day Court. Reflects his father’s abilities and court
And then people will still claim he’s not a cool character.
Imagine you're backstabbed during your first kiss and freaking bombed when you're about to lose your virginity... If you think you're unlucky in love... At least you're not Fang Runin
