when you know i can't love: Astarion x Dark Urge, background Kardammon, M a Durge-takes-the-deal-with-Raphael-so-Astarion-doesn't-have-to AU featuring lots of sad horny bed sharing, Raphael being a cunt, Astarion also being a cunt but in a different flavor, and durge being a feral rat who bullies children. 10k, complete.

warmth in the attic: Karlach x Dammon, background Durgestarion and Shadowzel, T a Kardammon shadowlands getting-together fic told mostly from the perspective of Karlach's well meaning but meddlesome friends, featuring Astarion being a nosy wine aunt, the Dark Urge breaking and entering, Wyll being a romance novel enthusiast, and Dammon being perfect. 4k, complete.

two hundred years is a lot of time to fill, but Astarion finds things to do. Like sewing and murder, and gambling and made-up legal depositions. A 'how-did-Astarion-get-his-rogue-skills fic feat. a blend of absolute crack and hurt/no comfort 5k, completed.

from the light sent down: Link x Zelda, game rewrite, T my labor of love. this is a reworking of the plot of tears, with Link and Zelda sharing narration, getting full arcs as characters, and culminating in Link breaking Demise's curse once and for all. There are ancient Zonai cities, sages from the past, lore, poems, the return of Kass, lots of mutual pining, swordfights, betrayal, romance, and other things I won't spoil here. 176k. complete.

My woke take, as someone who has worked in both a public library and a school library, is that we desperately need both more books that are at a higher reading level but a less mature subject matter, and more books that are at a lower reading level but a more mature subject matter, because 8 year olds who are advanced readers are still 8 year olds and don't want to read about graphic violence and torture, and teens and adults who have learning difficulties or who are just later readers for whatever reason are still teens and adults and don't want to read about Billy the Bunny going to school or whatever the hell.

Pausing the episode for a second. As a defender of Daemon’s one Alyssa vision as part of a wider look into his fucked up subconscious view on relationships: what does this do for Aemond’s character at this point? Every other scene has been him turning to the camera and going I HAVE MOTHER ISSUES AND I FEEL INADEQUATE DUE TO MY STATUS AS A SECOND SON like we get it does he have any other thoughts? Opinions? Something to do? Anything besides shock value? Is there a reason we have to spend the entirety of this one character’s screentime on it instead of making it an underlying issue for the whole family (which it is) so it’s not just the same thing with him over and over again? We have the tableau we have the gothic setting we have everything lined up to address the subject now do we have anything to say or do here besides putting one character on stage and going “ooooh yucky” it’s cartoonish
