If AKOTSK and HOTD s3 hadn't come out in the same year I'd suspect Ormund's villain trait being "anti-Valyrian blood supremacist" was a response(?) to fandom views on Raymun Fossoway's anti-Targaryen "incestuous aliens" rant
no real reason to think that, Raymun was bold enough to blurt that out to a complete stranger bc they’re dragonless by the time of akotsk but many many people have long and established beef with the Targs specifically and valyrian customs in general, for reasons ranging from being disgusted with the incest, being resentful about losing power, having been victims of the valyrian freehold, ect ect.
In many cases they had so much beef that they were absolutely willing to square up to Targs even when they did have dragons. The faith has always been one of the main sources of conflict too. There’s the whole debacle(s) with Maegor, the storming of the dragonpit, various riots, and even during the golden age a group of actual nuns rushed Alysanne with knives for insisting on entering a religious site supposedly blessed by The Maiden whilst “carrying an abomination”. A lot of people just shrugged it off or bought into the pr campaign about Targs just being special but there’s always been a third faction who consider them either interloping freaks or abominations in the religious sense. Show Ormund flat out telling Daeron he’s tainted for being part valyrian is a change from the book but they didn’t pull it out of nowhere and manipulation tactics aside it’s plausible that he genuinely believes that
