"If it is any consolation," Katherine chirps with a genuine, overjoyed smile, which I doubt is her next thought, which she does not say out loud. The other would not benefit from it, and she would actually like to sound less like her beloved brother, Julien. Though she learns quite a bit from him. The other's anger does very nearly startle him enough to jump; it is a good thing he does not have his pistols at the present moment.
Still, with a disappointed sigh, he merely replies, still cordial, aside from the disappointment.
"Perhaps, but if you are right and as J.ean-J.acques R.ousseau theorized, the worst evil is in man, surely that means the human potential to do our best in the circumstances we are in also exists? Indeed, I would go as far as to assert you cannot have one without the other."
