Anni Albers (born Annelise Elsa Frieda Fleischmann, June 12, 1899 – May 9, 1994) was born in Berlin. She enrolled at the Bauhaus in 1922 where she ended up studying weaving after finding out that other disciplines were not an option due to gender biases at the institution.
Fleischmann found her passion in weaving, however, under the guidance of Gunta Stölzl, one of a small number of female teachers on the Bauhaus' staff and the first to hold the title of "Master." Fleischmann married fellow Bauhaus artist Josef Albers in 1926, taking on her husband’s last name. They were eventually forced to emigrate from Nazi Germany and relocate to the United States in 1933. Albers received her U.S. citizenship in 1937.
Anni and Joseph Albers both taught at Black Mountain College in North Carolina until 1949. In 1949, Anni Albers became the first textile designer to have a solo exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. She worked in weaving, textile, and printmaking, and was a pioneer in the midcentury textile design movement in the United States.
Anni Albers filled a graph-paper notebook regularly from 1970 until 1980. This facsimile publication of the notebook illustrates her working process and contains intricate drawings for her large body of graphic work, as well as studies for her late knot drawings.

HUNDREDS OF BEAVERS (2022) dir. Mike Cheslik
i will repeat, for no reason in particular
taboo kinks are inexorably queer. as it stands, it is queer to grow up physically or sexually abused, to have your sexuality disorganized instead of understood and reinforced. it is queer to suppress your attraction to kids your age and instead develop a complex around your abusive parent that you feel weird about. it is queer to have notions of consent be corrupted by ritual shame and humiliation. we cannot all be perfect victims of cisheteronormative society, saying otherwise is placing your own feelings of disgust over reality.
Y'all will bend over backwards and reach so fucking hard to label everything as queer
this is so fucking homophobic. when will y'all learn that equating homosexuality with sexual deviance is the same shit conservatives do. liking being tortured and beaten during sex has nothing to fucking do with homosexuality. if we start letting people who practice kink claim they're apart of the lgb community, where do we draw the line? is being a pedophile lgb? a necrophiliac? because that's the fastest way to get being homosexual associated with being a sexual deviant. which is exactly why the lgb community was established to begin with. to make same sex attracted people feel welcomed and accepted. for them to know being gay is not weird or "queer." libfem bullshit like this is regressing our community so much. what the fuck do you mean being into kink is "queer"???!!!!!
I'm fucking sorry but did this person say its queer to be sexually abused? So by that logic I'm also a part of the lgb because I was sexually abused as a child? Get out of here right fucking now. Like, you are going to make it easy for homophobes to call SSA people and Bi people sexual deviants and reinforce that they're gay because they were abused.
I really don't want go lay into OP too hard, not having been a victim of CSA and all, but let me just say that is NOT what queer means.
The word literally means 'odd' or 'not normal' - my 90-something grandfather still uses the word in this context without it referring to sexuality at all.
It's used as a slur specifically against people who are same-sex attracted and/or trans. Kinks (whether they stem from trauma or otherwise) are not 'queer' when performed by heterosexual, non-trans people.
you're reblogging 3 terf blogs, one even has it in her URL, and all just to mansplain to me about slurs for the group i belong to
ok but refute what they said- why do think homosexuality should be associated with deviance and trauma
that's not what I said
"taboo kinks are inexorably queer. as it stands, it is queer to grow up physically or sexually abused"
why did u say that then lol
are you familiar with the distinction between rectangles and squares
Endlessly diabolical how you can't say words like rape and suicide uncensored without either being criticised by idiots or punished by conglomerates.
It's not r*pe, it's rape. It's not su*cide, it's suicide. Not unalive, dead. The backbone needs to be reintroduced en masse because softening the blow of these concepts with advertising language does absolutely nothing but allow people unaffected by them to feel not even a sting of what they can do, prompting inaction.
And it's been proven that on certain websites, you don't even face a repercussion for using the words as they are. People just started censoring themselves because they feared the potential lack of views and likes and followers which is so nasty itself.
weird anti ideology finally leaking out into the mainstream
I'm so exhausted by all of this.
I think we're seeing the consequences of surveillance, honestly. Like they're policing themselves this heavily because they've never had privacy before, not from their parents, not from their peers, not from advertisers, not online, nothing. And with all that constant and conflicting criticism, there are no consistent rules for when they're going to be attacked so they're responding by making elaborate, false rule-sets as a coping strategy. LIke "maybe, if I act this way, I'll finally be safe" but it doesn't work so they get more desperate.
Add on all the school shootings in the US, inaction on climate change, and a pandemic that was allowed to rip through schools unchecked, kids and young adults have a deep sense that their lives are disposable. And they're right! Our society is systematically hostile and abusive to children in so many ways! However, the only child abuse society gets riled up about is pedophilia. Adults act like pedophilia is the only kind of child abuse that counts as abuse.
And that's why I think we are seeing kids stretching the meaning of pedophilia. They are looking for language that encompasses all of the kinds of abuse that they're experiencing. All of the emotional abuse of children is normalized, quite a bit of physical abuse is normalized, and the lack of privacy, agency, and bodily autonomy is all socially enforced. The truth is that all of these other forms of abuse can and do lead to sexual abuse, too. These kids are on to something, but it's getting deflected and warped by the fact that they still live in the dangerous environments they've been abused in. I think more specific language will be empowering here and will also bridge the gap between the current generation of young people and other anti-violence movements.
So if you are a child or young adult who resonates with any of the above, I want you to know that as a child abuse survivor, I believe you when you say that you've been abused. I think the anxiety about fandom websites and queer people and kink is misplaced because strangers don't usually have the structural power and access to you to hurt you but I know that there are people in you life who do have that power and I'm worried about you. I think ao3/queer/kink are just the issues that you feel safest speaking up about. I see you speaking up and I think there's more going on.
So what I can do for you, as a random stranger on the internet, is give you some resources and language so you can start to articulate your experiences and find solidarity with others.
Some terms you might find helpful:
Here's a copy of the UN's Convention on the Rights of the Child. The US has refused to sign this but it's still a good idea of what the rest of the world believes you deserve and what we know will help you thrive.
Read and download the child-friendly version of the Convention on the Rights of the Child
Here's a copy of the power and control wheel for child abuse. Power and control wheels are commonly used in many forms of victim advocacy to help map abuse. To be clear, we count these things as abuse because we know from research that they are traumatic. Many laws have not been updated to include all these forms, so you'll notice that many of the things on this wheel are completely legal even though we know they are harmful.
The Power and Control Wheel for abuse of children is an effective tool that can help you identify child abuse tactics and help you start the
Additionally, I'm including a zine I found on peer support for suicide ideation. I know that growing up, my friends and I were always told to tell a trusted adult but we didn't have one and ended up trying to help each other through some really awful shit. This is a guide written by someone with a similar experience and it details ways to informally support someone who is feeling suicidal.
I'm so so glad to see a response to this other than:
"lmao antis, amiright? 🙄🤪"
"Gen Z is sooo stupid because they're too privileged to know what ~real~ pain & abuse is!"
"Gen Z is sooo stupid because TikTok brainrot mental illness otherkin China mindcontrol cummunism virus 10,00,0000,000 dead!" or
"hey king. I saw your tumblr post about how Gen Z are trash and I just wanted to let you know that I agree. although I myself am a zoomer (i know ugh) i am on your side. 'one of the good ones' as some may say. btw I never even noticed how big your brain is till now but its awesome"
This is a real problem with real causes. Things don't just happen for no reason because a group you don't like is inherently worse than you or incapable of making good decisions.
We are like this because of the unprecedented cultural conditions surrounding our development & socialization!!!
All of this is great resources.
But please don't neglect that these folks are actually causing real harm.
I was harassed into suicidal ideation by these antis last summer. I know of others who made suicide attempts from these accusations and others who've had their livelihoods and reputations ruined.
I sympathize with what the surveillance state is doing to them. But at the same time, much of Gen Z are legal adults and much of Gen Z are directly contributing to something that causes real harm and I don't want to dismiss that in any way.
The damage and harm they are doing is very real. And it falls right into the above when looking at abusive cycles: Gen Z is continuing and perpetuating the cycle of abuse they have endured and we are seeing real world consequences from it.
Give them all the resources they need to empower themselves. But do not ever deny or dismiss the active harm and abuse they are perpetuating as we speak.
Villisca Axe Murder House
Past midnight on June 10, 1912 a horrific crime was committed that remains unsolved today. Villisca, Iowa at the turn of the century was the typical peaceful American small town.
June 9th was a Sunday and Josiah “Joe” Moore a Villisca businessman accompanied his wife, Sarah, and their 4 children, Herman 10, Katherine 10, Boyd 7, and Paul 5 to the local Presbyterian churches’ Children’s Day service. The Moore children among other Sunday school attendees performed speeches and recitations.
It was a special night made more exciting by the fact that two neighbor children, Lena 12 and Ina Stillinger 8 attended with the family and were given permission to go home with the Moore children for a sleep over.
The church service ended around 9:30 p.m. and the Moore’s and their 2 guests walked home. The children were treated to milk and cookies and then put to bed for the night.
The church service was the last time these 8 people were seen alive. Even today not all the facts are known including who committed the murders. Tragically, sometime between midnight and the early morning hours each person sleeping in the Moore house was brutally murdered.
Two cigarette buttes where found in the home’s attic so it is speculated that the murderer or murderers waited in this room until the family returned and settled in for the night.
The following morning an elderly neighbor, Mary Peckham became concerned when at 7:30 a.m. the Moore house was unusually quiet and deserted. Joe’s brother Ross arrived and spotted two figures in the back bedroom covered with a sheet–he also saw blood.
The town’s Marshall, Hank Horton was sent for and he announced that there was “somebody murdered in every bed.” The murder weapon an axe that had been partially wiped clean was found leaning against the wall in the back downstairs bedroom.
Horton had found the two Moore adults and the six children all in bed, they were covered with bedclothes. Each of their skulls had been bludgeoned 20 to 30 times with the blunt end of the axe.
The Reverend Lyn George Jackline Kelly was tried and acquitted twice for the murders of the Moore family and the Stillinger girls.
In the early morning following the murders he boarded a train in Villisca headed westbound. He allegedly told his fellow travelers that there were 8 dead souls back in Villisca–butchered in their beds as they slept. At the time he made this statement the bodies had not yet been found.
Kelly had arrived in Villisca for the first time on the Sunday morning of the murders. He had attended the Sunday school performance given by the children. Two weeks later he arrived in Villisca again. He posed as a detective and joined a tour of the murder house with a group of investigators.
The authorities initially became interested in him several weeks later after being alerted by several people who had received “rambling letters” from him.
Kelly was the son and grandson of English ministers. He suffered a mental breakdown while still in adolescence. After immigrating to America he had preached at several Methodist churches across the Midwest.
At the time of the Villisca murders he was preaching in several small Iowa towns just north of Villisca. He had developed a reputation for “odd behavior.” He had been convicted of sending obscene material through the mail and had been committed to a mental hospital for a time.
In August, two months after the murders Kelly signed a confession to the murders. He stated God had whispered to him “suffer the children to come until me.”
During his trail Kelly recanted his confession–eleven of the twelve jurors acquitted him. A second jury was convened and Kelly was acquitted again in November.
Several bizarre items where left at the murder scene. The first was a 4-pound piece of bacon that was found propped against the wall next to the axe.
The murderer had taken items from the bedroom dressers and covered all the mirrors in the home. He also covered the entry doors. He left a plate of uneaten food on the kitchen table along with a bowl of water stained with blood.
Some speculate that the murders were actually done by a serial killer. At the time of the Villisca murders over the course of two years from 1911 to 1912 at least 20 other people had been bludgeoned to death with an axe across the Midwest–none of these crimes were ever solved.
yes i posted this on my other blog but you know what it goes here too
