working out your brain is a must!!
• hydrate it by drinking lots of water
• eat dark chocolate and blueberries and walnuts and salmon and other foods high in antioxidants!!
• play little brain games on your phone; I like wordconenct! anything that makes you think!
• read books. It’s simple but necessary. Even better - join a book club, or read with a friend, so you can have discussions after. This will improve your reading comprehension.
• do puzzles - it doesnt have to be sudoku, I love playing Beat Saber on the Oculus Rift because it makes my brain have to match colorful patterns to physical movements very quickly!
• learn a new dance - even a tik tok trendy dance. Learning new dance moves are proven to strengthen synapses!!
• go bird watching, or foraging, or anything outdoors that requires you to explore pattern recognition and visual searching
• watch a movie with the intent of analysis - this is best done with a cinephile friend!! talk about tropes and symbolism and character growth
• cross stitch, or sew, or do anything that requires matching nimble hand movements to patterns
• play or learn an instrument!
• develop a consistent sleep schedule (or as close to consistent as you can get!)
• when eating, try to identify the ingredients and flavors you’re perceiving!
I hope this helps :)

I like how this went from me feeling like “hm why is this attacking me 🤨” at first, but feeling grateful seeing an added guide on a genuine expansion on a “ how to” work out the brain. This genuinely helps a bunch. People find solace in doing activities that get them through life by doing said activities of phone/tv or if that’s all they’ve ever known in their life to get them through things + etc tho. However, this was very impt to point out. Slowly beginning incorporating things to work the brain in ones own time.
Working out your brain is also just super fun! Because despite what you may believe after experiencing school, learning can actually be fun when you enjoy what you’re learning about!
Some other recommendations for brain workouts:
If there’s an online game you like playing casually, consider trying to learn how to play it competitively! Learn the Meta, the strategies, the terminology, how to read opponents, etc. if that isn’t your thing try a puzzle game, strategy game, or analyse a narrative driven game.
Start learning a new language! Language learning is hard, but it’s worth it! And you’ll be surprised at how quickly you make progress.
Go to an art gallery, try to do a little analysis. How do the pieces make you feel? What do you think they’re trying to say?
You know that post about how angels and telephone towers are biologically compatible? That’s how I feel about overgrown plants and industrial machines.
These two things can and SHOULD make offspring.
Do you WANT kudzu cables?
Do you WANT invasive machinery to bury your city?
Do you WANT to be entombed in wires until you can't tell where "you" end and "we" begin?
yes. reblog
learning to stop hating yourself isn’t something that happens overnight.
it’s a series of negotiations you make with yourself over your whole life. it’s making one less self-deprecating joke. it’s looking at yourself in the mirror with a little more generosity. it’s forgiving yourself for that little mistake.
it’s not one thing and then you’re good. it’s many small choices you can make that slowly make your brain and body a little less uncomfortable to live with
"SURVIVING"
I love being alone <- girl who has known nothing but loneliness her entire life and so has no choice but to take comfort in it
The whole self love thing is good and all but some people can’t fathom being loved. They can’t imagine there being anything good about them. So they can’t simply just stop doing unhealthy things, there’s a process.
Before self love you have to invoke self tolerance and self neutrality.
If you can’t say “I love my body!” say “my body gets me from place to place.”
If you can’t say “I’m beautiful,” begin by shutting down the “I’m ugly” thoughts and saying “I’m a person.”
If you can’t say “I’m valuable” begun by shutting down the “I’m worthless” thoughts and say “all people deserve basic respect, and I’m a person.”
If you can’t say “I’m important,” or “I’m kind” say “I am the one who waters my plant every week” or “I am the one who tips the kind barista down the street” or “I am the one who makes sure my dog does not eat plastic” or “I am the one who leaves long comments on people’s fan fictions.”
I was on a huuuuge Subnautica kick a while back, this was a warmup sketch for one of my streams. The prompt was to design a Reaper in the style of Monster Hunter, so, scales ahoy lol. I’m very happy with this drawing though, maybe I’ll take it further someday. (yes that’s my bird in the Seamoth)
