Hi everyone!! I just started a new semester and my second year of undergrad, so I thought I’d post an update and little reintroduction.

Current Research:

I’m currently (still) working on a research project studying stress response genes in the nematode C. elegans. Last semester, I did the molecular cloning for my transgenic “glow worm” and am in the process of actually making my “glow worm” right now.

Goals for the Semester:

Not getting overwhelmed by my classes

Finish my research project (or find a way to continue in the spring)

Enjoy things being semi- back to normal on campus

unrepentant tiktokers who haven't thought critically since 2019 will hear a criticism of tiktok and be like "how are you gonna hate a whole app 😂😂💯🤡" I do hate tiktok. yes all of it. I don't care about whether the content is good or bad, I hate the fundamental function of that app which is to get you addicted to the zero-effort dopamine hit you get from consuming shortform content algorithmically tailored to you, erode your attention span, and promote consumerism. this is true regardless of whether or not you "found your community" on tiktok or use it as an escape or a coping mechanism. this does not add nuance to the discussion the way you think it does. i do not care and i am not obligated to care and I hope that app one day gets class action lawsuited into oblivion

10 things to do before back to school

Fix your sleep schedule

clean your room

organise your bag

get your books ready

make sure you have all your stationary

finish your summer bucket list

Create a study plan

wash your uniform if you have one. If not just wash the clothes you will need

make some resolutions

Make sure you have all summer projects or homework finished

Romanticise going back to school. Gaslight yourself into thinking you will have a good time
