warnings : mentions of depression, toxic relationship, mentions of break-up
a/nβs note: I just wanna hurt myself a lil bit lol, sorry guys!
Atsumu woke up in a daze, his eyes still as puffy and red as they had for one year.
In fact, he had his heart broken one year ago, on the same day I'm telling you this story. Atsumu didn't mean to hurt you.
He had treated you like shit and often left you alone in your shared apartment. You had done everything in your power to make him happy, yet he wasn't.
You sobbed often, on the wooden floors while screaming faintly. Atsumu brushed it off like it was nothing.
βWhy are ya here?β He asked one day, seeing you cheering for him at the gymnasium that his team, MSBY often occupied.
You shuddered shyly, fiddling with bento box you held in your shaky hands. βI wanted to give you this..! In-incase you got hungry!β You squeaked, pushing the box towards him.
You looked up at his face, he cringed. βNot hungry, just go home and wait f'me okay? I'll be here all day.β You blinked back tears and nodded, he walked back to his teammates without saying a thing.
It was like this everyday, you had hope at first since he promised you he'll take care of you when you first started dating. But slowly, you got tired.
He came home one August day, to see the apartment empty, where were you he thought. It took him a minute to realize that something was horribly wrong.
You always made him dinner, even if he said he wasn't hungry or that he already ate. But today, his dinner was in the trash.
He heard the faint sounds of zipping inside the bedroom so he trudged slowly and peeked in between the slight gap of the door.
And there you were, shoving clothes and whatnot into luggages. He opened the door slowly and asked in a low voice. βWhe-where are ya going?β
You turned your head, fat teardrops falling down your cheeks. βAnywhere is better than here Atsumu.β You croaked, standing up and biting your shaking lip.
βHuh? I don'tββ He said quickly but getting interrupted by your voice, which was emptily dull. βWe're done, Atsumu. I-I don't even see you around anymore so what's even the point?β
He gasped quietly, but he let you talk. βI spend days and days waiting for you here but you don't come home anymore. When you do come home, all you talk about is volleyball. I support you I do but it's all you ever talk about.β You finally ended talking, fists curled into balls.
Atsumu stood there, βI'm sorry I couldn't be here all the time okay? I don't have enough time to baby you because unlike you, I have a lifeβ He retorted, making your eyes widen slowly.
And that was the last time he ever saw or even heard from you.
Now he sat in the same bedroom your relationship ended, he still has guilt washing over him till now.
He looked over the side like he was expecting you to be there, memories making his eyes water.
He leaned in and looked a bit closer where you used to sleep he saw marks on the sheets, brown marks.
Even when wearing makeup, you cried. You used the sheets as a sort of tissue, rubbing your eyes on them, and now leaving marks.
He now directed his gaze to the window where the sun shone, flowers were blooming but he frowned, it shouldn't look beautiful as it is.
It was his heartbreak anniversary, and he wanted to spend the day crying his heart out for the one he let go.
