“Oh. Uh– No… I suppose not.”
Hibiya had merely been, for a lack of better words, staring off into space. Perhaps he’d been thinking about something? (Thinking of lots of things, troubling things, most likely, with the directions his mind had been travelling in as of late.) Nonetheless, if asked, he probably would not have been able to answer if asked what had been occupying his mind. Seated on the old sofa of the Mekakushi Dan’s hideout, he’d managed to reach a nirvana-like state known as ‘that thing when your mind goes blank and you stare at nothing until someone points out how stupid you look’.
In fact, he hadn’t even anticipated someone to interrupt his thoughts. He was still getting used to the fact that he was not temporarily occupying just any household, but the lair of a wannabe gang. It had caught him by surprise that he was even still mingling with such downright odd people, in the first place. And, even more shockingly, it was a miracle that said odd people were still keeping him around. He’d expected his gang membership to expire by now, with certain snakes taken care of, and all. Did gangs have memberships? Did they expire? They didn’t have things like this, back where he came from. As such, he was quite unversed in the workings of red-eyed-child-cults.
Most baffling, though, was the fact that the fabled ‘Danchou’ had approached him. He was still trying to deduce what kind of person she was. On one hand, she seemed like the kind of person who could snap his spine in a single swift motion if he said the wrong thing. (She’d certainly snapped Kano’s, more than once.) But, on the other hand, she seemed to exude some kind of strange friendliness. Perhaps she was like a disgruntled single mother, merely exhausted by the fact that she was commanding a gang of small children. (And, additionally, the big child that was Shintaro)
“I guess I was just thinking about…” Nothing? He couldn’t just say nothing! That was absurd. His eyes darted around the room. “…How nice of a place you got here. It’s…” Surprisingly homely? Nicely decorated? Not as scary as you’d expect it to be? “…Comfy. I like the couches.”
Well, it really hadn’t hurt for her to ask. Just from the way that Hibiya had been, seemingly, staring off into space... She could only assume that there was something that was on the kid’s mind. Something that was, most definitely bothering him--
Though she was relieved to hear that her assumption wasn’t the case. Of course, she was comletely aware of the fact that Hibiya was probably still getting used to everyone in the Dan--
... If she were to be completely honest, she was still getting used to all the new members herself. Not that it was that big a deal. As different as it was... It was still nice to have so many new faces around the base-- Speaking of faces, Kido’s almost instantly lit up as Hibiya announced what he had been thinking about.
“You really think so?” she asked, curious as to whether Hibiya actually meant it or not. “... I, uh... Worked hard decorating and picking out everything, after me, Seto, and Kano moved here and stuff.”
